Changes vs Melbourne

I can see them bringing Roger straight in, but I wouldn't. I don't really see the point, and given his history he isn't exactly the type of player I would be taking risks with. Palmer and Roberton were both dropped for a reason too, might as well actually give them a proper run in the WAFL.

In: Barlow, Mellington
Out: Mundy, Ballantyne

I would have Mellington as the substitute. Hinkley's performance against Essendon was deserving of a full game, and his speed will be handy without Ballantyne.

From 91.3FM Wafl talk....Roger Hayden, Michael Walters & Joel Houghton all set to be in Des Headlands Indigenous All Stars team this weekend....

Melbourne look like they have some pretty decent ins, including height in defence/ruck.

Melbourne look like they have some pretty decent ins, including height in defence/ruck.

The dominated in HO's against the Pies, didn't do them any good.

I heard Jamar is only 50/50 to return. Stefan Martin is mobile but not great in the ruck, Max Gawn is a plodder and Griffin/Clarke/Bradley will kill him around the ground.

Melbourne don't apply pressure up the ground well, they like to rebound from the defensive 50 into attack so as long as we don't bomb it into outnumbered contests we should be good..

Several people were interviewed at Perth Airport on radio this morning regarding flights in and out of Perth. One of them was flying over to Melbourne to see his sons play in the AFL. One of his kids plays for Adelaide, the other plays for Fremantle i.e. it looks like JVB could be getting a game this week.

Wonder if he'll go up forward? I'd rather De Boer up forward in order to cause the same pressure that Ballantyne does.

R_Lewis_thewest Fremantle take Josh Mellington and Ben Bucovaz to Melbourne and leave out Rhys Palmer, whose future at Freo must be at risk. #AFL

Could be Barlow, Buco, Mellington in for Ballas, Munday and Mayne (under injury cloud according to Ross Lewis)...
Wouldn't be surprised with Mayne, he looked like he was proppy last week and getting work done on his groin when he came off in front of us...

So Rhys didn't fly with the team? We'll I haven't put too much stock in that sort of talk to this point, but gees it must be getting close:

1. He can't get a game in a team that needs at least somebody who could pinch-hit in the middle with their No. 1 mid out.
2. He can't get a game in a team that is missing it's first and second small fwds (Walters) while Palmer has been groomed as that high small fwd/mid position.
3. There's no WAFL game for him to play so you can't even use the 'match-fitness' thing.

Never saw this coming earlier in the season, and who would have guessed at the end of 08 we'd be sitting here.

Final Bench

Int; Clarke, Barlow, Bucovaz, Hinkley.
Em; Van Berlo, Mellington, Palmer.

Bucovaz and Barlow in for Mundy and Ballantyne.

Seriously doesn't look good, if true....:(

Bucovaz and Barlow in for Mundy and Ballantyne.

So Mellington in if it's wet maybe, as neither JvB or Palmer travelled (apparently).

Final team in its entirety:

Fremantle

B: Greg Broughton, Luke McPharlin, Antoni Grover
HB: Paul Duffield, Michael Johnson, Garrick Ibbotson
C: Nathan Fyfe, Matthew Pavlich, Jesse Crichton
HF: Ryan Crowley, Kepler Bradley, Tendai Mzungu
F: Clancee Pearce, Christopher Mayne, Stephen Hill
Foll: Jonathon Griffin, Nick Lower, Matthew de Boer

I/C: Clayton Hinkley, Zachary Clarke, Benjamin Bucovaz, Michael Barlow

Emg: Josh Mellington (traveled), Rhys Palmer, Jay Van Berlo

Will Bucovaz be the substitute? It's either him or Hinkley IMO.

Rhys' goose is cooked.

He's off somewhere...whether GWS or not, he's done with us

Maybe he can spend a contemplative weekend with his best-mate Masten and they can both consider their professional application to their careers.

JVB travelled with the team as well as Mellington so there's a good chance of atleast one late change you' think, maybe Mayne/Kepler?

Maybe there both off to gws.
Masten already has the ****y gay hairstyle thats popular over there right now.

But Palmer showed in his WAFL games this year he looks like he could be getting back to close to his best.
So its not a loss of ability thing theres def something going on behind the scenes.

As for Masten an Palmer being best mates, I know they used to be an i would see them out together in 08 an 09.
Since then when i have seen Palmer out i havent seen Masten.
