Changes vs North Melbourne

Agree we still don't have enough numbers running through the midfield due to one dimensional players.

Armo Steven Joey Dal Geary Dunnel should all rotate forward, Newnes should move back, and ledger and dunnel should come in this week.

Out Len jones saad Maister
In wright ledger Dunnel kos

Silly statement if Siposs is injured he doesn't play at all, not even VFL injured means you are injured you don't play how do you get a fitness base when one is injured.

Obviously I mean drop him til he's fit and then play him in VFL to get fitness base.

Don't worry if you are down by 50pts in the 3rd qtr, you'll still be able to come back a snatch the win.

Trouble is with us mounting a come back win against you is that we also run out of legs and try to hold on to a lead as well heading into the final quarter. It may be a race to see who fades quickest.

I think North will play the Scott brothers game style, which is Bully us like they did when they played for Brisbane both Scott's love bullying an inferior team, just watch Norths players come out and intimidate our younger players.

Newnes just looked like he may need a rest. Tank not as big as someone like Ross.

Maister is safe because there is no real replacement on the list. If used properly should be dangerous.

Reckon Newnes looks more comfortable in the backline and should take Gears role so he can shift back to the midfield

Maister, still not convinced. Plays well under no pressure, yet to see his composure when the game is hot.

sending players back to the VFL on smaller grounds to build a tank doesnt always work

newnes, ross, wright, siposs need to stay in the side to build their tank in the AFL on larger grounds against fitter and stronger opposition

theres no easy path in the AFL and we shouldnt be trying to give them one

if they need a rest then fair enough but i dont think this is the case

mcevoy is the one who needs a rest, he looks absolutely spent from holding the ruck on his own and gut running end to end

maister has lost a bit of touch. he needs to get on the angry pills to attract some opposition attention

keep him in the side whilst white and lee are developing. unless we want kozi to come back, which tbh shouldnt happen more than the amount of games he needs to reach his milestone

any word on markworth? will we see him in the VFL this year?

Get rid of Saad? o_O
9 Tackles (most) out of a team 72.
2 Score assists (equal 2nd) and 1 goal 1.
No clangers (big improvement from Adelaide game).

I thought he played his best game for the year, needs to work on the field kicking a bit.

Compared to Milne he looked great.

North backline players who will run away from Milne:
-Atley
-Grima
-Thompson
-Mullet
-Hansen
-Firrito
-McMahon

The way North play, you'd suggest going in and playing the first quarter really defensively while they get the red cordial out of their system ( get numbers back ) then attack for the rest of the game.
But StKilda would probably leak just as many goals playing defensively.

I don't really care what we do as long as we tag Harvey. ( because its easy and fun ).

I'm actually at the point where I wouldn't mind kids playing at the VFL over the AFL. Simply put, I want them to learn to win, rather than to learn to lose. All that Newnes and Ross are learning is the psychological processes of losing a match. Worse, they're learning how to be in with a sniff at 3/4 time, and THEN Lose when the game is in the balance - to assume defeat, to give up, to quit when the going gets tough. Either that, or from games like the Adelaide and Essendon games, they are learning to accept shelackings as what they deserve.

We are training our young stars to be Melbourne players.

Put them in the VFL, and lead them to a Premiership there. I'm almost at the mind that our priorities need to shift around the other way: AFL is now the second priority for a while.

Kangas will take us out the back and beat the crap out of us. We are going to lose. And lose huge.

I can understand Percy's worries about "learning to lose", but the reality is this:

Nick Reiwoldt's first 32 games included only 7 wins.

Why didn't get stuck in a rut of losing? Harvey, Burke, Thompson, Hamill, Loewe. In other words, leadership.

If the kids don't get dropped, I'd be fine with that. But I can see it happening at certain stages, and Newnes looked the most tired.

If McEvoy needs a rest, there's only one player who can come in for him: Justin Koschitzke. Hickey rucks, Kosi backs him up.

Siposs and Lee can swap.

De facto - I think you are being generous - I don't think Maister ever had great touch. I do agree that he attracts a good defender but if it ends up like the Adelaide game where his opponent starts to hurt us then we have to make the call to drop him. Kosi will play again soon. Perhaps sooner than we think if McEvoy needs a rest.

If Kosi plays again we know we really are tanking :o

Silly comment

For all the flack he cops, nobody else is particularly shining.

Different rules for different players from some.

What has he exactly done to warrant recall. His last game was atrocious, if he wasn't suspended he would have been dropped. He's too slow to play AFL. Game has well and truly gone past him. Don't see any upside in Kosi being given games.

Out: Jones, Maister, Milne, Ray, Hayes, Webster

In: Kosi, Lee, Curren, Armitage, Ledger, Saunders

and for gods sake, can our coach please mix it up

We mixed it up for the first few games and it looked like nobody had any idea what they were doing. Stanley was in the backline, then forward, then in the ruck. Siposs back, then forward, then on a wing. Gilbert likewise. I don't think that's the problem, I still think we're playing a mid or two short.

Seriously, if a defender against Maister is hurting us you think Kosi would be twice as bad.
I don't know if you've noticed but Kosi thinks defensive pressure is how hard his teammates try to block his hi-fives.

The Injurey list has Hickey injured but we can't always trust that and people seem to think Mac is getting tired so I think Kosi or Blake will come back in because they are our only other ruck options

What happend to Maisters marking??
In pre season he was "Clunking" them like he was Stewie Loewes love child.
Now he wouldnt get a 'Mark' if he was wearing white undies while having diarrhea.
Bring Wilkes back :p
