Predicted forward line match ups?

Haven't been following NM that closely this year but obviously the danger is Petrie. Killed us last time. Fisher to go to him?

Stanley's a good match up for Daw, although he didn't have a great game last week and might be dropped/rested. If not, Stanley to follow him around, compete with him in the ruck etc. (drop Hickey)

Aaron Black's the other one. Would have been ideal for Gilbert. Roberton should be able to do the job.

Not sure who else they have in terms of tall forwards/flankers. Does Gwilt have a proper match-up? No point playing him otherwise.

Lindsay Thomas is the in-form small forward of the competition. Geary should watch him closely.

Thoughts?

Not convinced about throwing Wright straight back in. Sometimes need a week or 2 to get used to putting head over ball again after those things. Would prefer to see him have 1-2 in sandy then come up to play out the year. Can keep Geary back there and bring in a mid/hbf like Ledger, Curren, Dunnell, Murdoch.

Bringing in Kozchitzke to the side, as it is, would require a second change so as not to leave our forwardline completely unable to provide chase.

Hickey is no Usain Bolt, but he's more mobile than Kosi. As such, if we were to swap those two, we would have to also bring Maister out for White or Lee because, whilst Beau is quicker and more agile than Kosi, he's too slow/clunky to play as the 3rd tall.

If we only want a singular change to that forward line up, then it can't be bringing in Kozchitzke. We can't afford to.

Scott likes playing 3 tall forwards.

That might mean a return to the forward line of Hansen (hope not), Daw remains for the week (unlikely) or Mason Wood is brought in as a debutant.

Tarrant is still a few weeks away from returning from injury.

Petrie's off the boil atm.

Stanley seems the definate matchup for Black from my end, Black is way too quick for most key defenders, Black isn't going to rag doll Stanley.

Thomas is more a marking forward than a Garlett type, I see Gwilt definately going to Thomas, and Fisher going to Petrie.

Dempster will take the 3rd tall (Wood/Hansen/Daw) imo.

That is, unless he wants to give Boomer an extra special 350th.

Reckon Dempster could do this with eyes closed now when :D

I sincerely hope he does, it means either;

1. Gwilt doesn't play on Thomas

or

2. You don't play your AA back pocket in the backline, and you play someone else on the third tall.

I wouldn't discount Roberton going to Black. Is slightly taller (2cm) than Aaron, is also not likely to get rag-dolled and has good speed and is in super-form (WB moves Brett Goodes forward onto him on the weekend, after he started so well).

Dempster another option, being only 1cm shorter and also having terrific speed (he's done great jobs on the likes of Cyril Rioli, Eddie Betts and co. so ought to be able to keep up with Black and has also played on the likes of Buddy, Jack Riewoldt, etc).

Stanley will probably go to someone taller.

Yeah fair enough, Roberton has been playing really well, just about your best defender this year.

Probably a decent matchup, Black will definately do him on the lead, but that's only if he gets enough space.

You could say that about most forwards though, but since Black has gotten over his OP from the last 2 years, he's lightning for a 194.

Yea I suppose, but id much rather just have 2 guys (Hickey/Macca) and have our forward just concentrate on kicking goals. If Stanley plays on Petrie then he should just follow him around all day, even if thats into the ruck.

I like your thinking. If Goldstein goes forward then McEvoy goes with him.

Out of interest would appreciate your thoughts. This year we expected to be competitive, but are not surprised we have dropped off.

You were expected to be a contender this year, but have also dropped off Was this a surprise to most North fans, or did you see this coming?

Whoa Len, they've lost by 4, 3, 2 & 1 points...very unlucky. Although, I agree with you in that they've led by heaps and dropped the ball

True but when you are a contender, you win these close games. At this stage North need something like 10 wins out of last 13. I am amazed where they are now.

quick rush schneider back

in all seriousness though he is only going to break again so we might as well play him and get him 1 game closer to the magical 100 needed for the father son

No chance we'll bring Schneider back in.. Absolutely no chance IMO. Need to get him right through the VFL considering his last two years, Unless we take a punt as him as the sub but i still don't see us rushing him back.

I wouldn't be that confident with Gwilt on Thomas. I'd much prefer Geary.

Agree. Gwilt is too slow and doesn't have the agility to go with Thomas. Would give Lindsay lots of opportunities to showcase his acting skills as well since Gwilt is a very clumsy scragger.

Dempster and Geary should have Harvey and Thomas, doesn't matter which one goes to which.
