I'd keep Rachelle in, he needs to learn from his mistakes. Hopefully he has a great game in Hobart.

I'd probably give Walker a rest.

Do we think we will get some coverage on Sheezel this game? Or let him rack up 45 touches off the HB line without an opponent?

If we insist on keeping Ned in the side (which I do not), maybe its time we actually gave him a role. If not him, than Keays, but i'd prefer to give the role to someone who isn't our leading goalkicker at the 1/4 mark of the season (yeah, let that sink in for a moment).

What I'd like to see happen asap:
Nicks given marching orders. Thanks for all the feel-good; on ya bike.

Caretaker Coach Hombsch drops Smith to the SANFL until he can kick to a teammate (which probably means he'll spend the rest of the year there). Not that I am cynical  .
Sloane told to come back via the SANFL as well, then delist.

Hombsch tells all assembled players that ALL AFL team positions will be earned from here on in, while looking directly at Murphy, Sholl and McHenry.
Underperforming players will be dropped and, to prove that, ROB, McHenry, Murphy and Sholl told they're out.

Curtin and Dowling reassured that they'll be playing AFL asap.

Imagine that: you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one (in here).

If we rest Walker we'll lose. Without TT he pretty much has to play every week.
Yeah, i'm not resting Walker this week. He needs a few lay-up games to kick his season/confidence into high gear IMO. I don't feel like he's come close to Peak Tex yet, (and he's still our best key forward, sheesh).

The Roos defense is about as much of a layup as it gets at AFL level. 18th for points against by a margin of 148 points to the next worst in West Coast. Averaging more than 4 goals more per game than other team in the AFL.

Coming off a 2 day rest advantage, if there was ever a cobweb blaster of a game for Tex, this is it! If anything I say feed him like we did in round 24 last year against WC.

It’s becoming infuriating that McHenry, Smith, Scholl, Murphy [before injury] continue to be selected an yet be performing so poorly. Along with ROB they seem too comfortable and seem to know hey once you’re in the 22 it’s all roses.

Pedlar was not playing his best football but even his poor games offered so much more than McHenry and he was far more damaging.

I was a Cook fanboy but I can’t see him being a good AFL player he doesn’t seem to have the passion.

Nicks has successfully rebuilt some form of the lovefest but perhaps now it’s time to move to an actual coach who has a better idea of selection, game day strategy and player development.

Dowling, Curtin, Taylor would all be good inclusions against North.

If we're a Saturday PM game this week, does anyone who understands the media cycle better than me wanna hazard a guess at which day we'd announce a debut (IF we were to announce one, which won't happen)
Teams would be announced 18:20 on Thursday, so any debutant would likely be on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. If it's past 3 PM on Thursday without an announcement, then it's a near certainty that it won't happen (although that didn't actually apply to our last debutant in Nankervis).

So many players to drop. Starting from the back lines……..

1) Borlase; Has been O.K. but is he part of our long term future? Our only available tall defender is Butts when fit (Himmelberg and Burgess are not Key Defenders) - Retain

2) Smith; Not fit, not playing well, not part of the future - Omit (O.K. We will call it managed).

3) Hamill; Playing O.K. but not part of our future. Only medium/small defenders left (with Milera and Parnell gone for the season) are Ryan and Bond (not AFL ready) - Retain

4) ROB; has been pretty a average but I can’t see Strachan as our only ruck - Retain

5) Nankervis; had a shocker against Essendon but could be part of our future - Retain

6) Jones; not playing his best footy but could be part of our future - Retain

7) McHenry; not playing well, not part of the future - Omit

8) Gollant; He is not a Ruck/Forward but neither is Burgess or Himmelberg. Sadly, The Berg is probably the best possible option but he is not part of our future. We could try 2 ruckman (Strachan) - Line ball call

9) Cook; 23 disposals and 1 goal across 3 matches, great potential as a future whipping boy - Line ball

10) Berry; Don’t select injured players - Out (injured)

11) Sholl; was O.K. as the sub, not part of the future - retain as the sub

In addition, some would like to omit Hinge, Laird, Rachele, Walker (managed), Fogarty and Keays but we are required to list 23 players.

Who comes in????

1) Crouch - Yes

2) Schoenberg; not match fit after returning from long term injury - No

3) Pedlar; Is definitely in our best 22 but had a poor pre-season, an awful start in the AFL and has not looked great in the SANFL - possibly

4) Himmelberg, Burgess, Strachan; Not part of our long term future, rearranging the deck chairs - Possibly

5) Gallagher, Bond, Edwards; No where near ready - No

6) Curtin, Ryan; will really struggle but possibly worth a shot

7) Dowling; has played on great game and two average games in the SANFL but better than some that played last week.

8) Taylor; Was the best of our midfielders last week, shows some zip - Yes

This is a bit depressing……

Out - Berry. In - Crouch

Out - McHenry. In - Dowling

Out - Smith. In - Ryan

Out - Cook. In - Taylor

Gollant and Sholl survive.

Great, now there's an article on afl.com.au about how s**t North has been.

Fired up North, down in Tassie, we look miles off. Watch us pick an injured Smith again.

We are gonna get pumped.
So?

I'd probably give Walker a rest.
Have you watched the Norf backline? Tex will kick a bag. No way you leave him home.

I'd give Smith a rest - permanently. Has lost dash, composure and kicking, oppo are upping the pressure and he's panicking.

Great week to debut a couple of players and bring back future best 22 types. There will never be an easier game than this. I watched some of Norf's game against the Hawks. Norf are bereft of system, confidence and players who can impact, back line is dreadful.

Get rid of the sub standard dross clogging our team, make a statement, Tex will kick a bag for a big win.

Lachie Murphy is back from injury so there is no doubting whatsoever he will be included this week

Injury List:

(As of Tuesday, April 23):

Sam Berry (foot) test

Jordon Butts (hamstring) test

Lachlan Murphy (knee) test

Brodie Smith (back) test

Rory Sloane (eye) TBC

Nick Murray (knee) 4-6 weeks

Riley Thilthorpe (knee) 2-3 months

Patrick Parnell (shoulder) season

Wayne Milera (knee) season

Matthew Nicks can start a career as a stand up comedian if they rush Murphy back.
