It’s too early to put Butters into our midfield

Outs Dolan and Hynes, both may need development at VFL for a few weeks and VDM

In Treloar if ready, McNeil if ready and Jacques to debut
First 2 are fine,

Personally would like to see Jacques dominate for a month before bringing him in. He has been great so far but given there’s no one to drop from the backline rotation as Bramble was fine last night I’d get him to full earn it

Tough to omit 3 players after such a strong win but with players back it’s what happens in strong sides.

Assuming all goes well in VFL for Jones, I’d go…

IN L Jones, Treloar, McNeil
OUT Khamis, Hynes, Dolan

Nothing wrong with Dolan in particular, but a bit quiet last night and some seasoned campaigners to come back in.

Vandermeer or McNeil to sub.

FB Cleary, Jones, O’Donnell
HB Dale, Busslinger, Johannisen
C Williams, Bontempelli, Davidson
HF M Kennedy, Lobb, Harmes
FF McNeil/Vandermeer, Naughton, West
FOL English, Liberatore, Richards
INT Bramble, Freijah, Sanders, Treloar
SUB McNeil/Vandermeer

Should also add L Kennedy and Coffield bsck through the VFL, and with Khamis, Dolan and Hynes dropping down, ahould see some very solid depth running around for Footscray. Good position to be in.

To me Dolan looks like he needs a rest, it’s a long season, he’s shown great signs but showed signs of fatigue. Whether he gets rested this week or for the Darwin trip not sure.

Hynes just doesn’t look quite ready to me and would be better off developing in the VFL atm.

Ins depends on the VFL game today and injury report next week

Dolan is the type that would be a good sub and therefore give him a break of sorts. Dogs have a bye in a month.

Not sure Jones will be straight back in. Particularly as the VFL game hasn't been played yet.

Happy for Dolan to just go back to sub for a break. He’s the sort of the guy that will only pick up 10-12 touches at VFL level anyway.

Hynes has had some gold exposure but now it’s time to let him build some solid form in the VFL.

If Lobb is forward, I’d prefer Jones to steady up our defence.

In: Jones, McNeil
Out: Khamis, Dolan (sub)

Not sure how you can have any ins prior to the VFL game and unsure of player availability.

No need at all to drop Dolan, in fact in the role he is being developed in and is developing well going to the lower level will be detrimental. Start as a sub.

Hynes does need more game time so a full game ar VFL level may help him. VDM maybe but his pressure was very good. Buku is playing a role with 2 KPP'S out and another out of form. Would keep him in at this stage.

So if any outs, either injuries, illness or possibly Hynes, ins wait for the VFL and player availability

I'd be tempted to give Dolan and Hynes a spell in the vfl. Dolan has impressed with his clean disposal but would like to see him find some more ball and confidence in the 2s. Buku is just hanging on but I wouldn't want to make too many changes after a nice win.

Vdm is back to being fumbly, I'd try upgrade his position if possible
He didn't do much last night but maybe put it down to rust. McNeil to come back in, VDM sub.

Would love to see Treloar back but he'd have to replace someone, perhaps Dolan might be unlucky.

Seems like he has just returned to normal VDM

He hasn’t played two poor games in a row since middle of last year IIRC. I’d back him in to play a much better game next week.

I know Bevo will and that’s probably all we need to know.

Watching Davidson and Freijah tear it up on the wing made me realise just how much I overrated VDM. Davidson's averaging more disposals(17.7) and score involvements(6.7) than VDM has had in any of his 6 seasons with us.

VDM was terrible last night with 6 disposals, 3 of which were turnovers. Dolan was even worse with just 3 disposals, 2 of them clangers.

Out: VDM, Dolan
In: Poulter, Arty

I'd give Arty a run on the wing, he can't be worse than 3 disposals/2 clangers..
