The Butters Cup: Changes vs Port in Ballarat

So apparently the Bont did have some calf tightness. Edmund said on Sportsday last night that he checked with the club, and they told him it was just precautionary in regard to the tightness in his calf, and that he’ll play this weekend 100%.

I grabbed him in fantasy too ;)

To be honest he will be a week to week proposition. If he were to have a stinker this week and Jones looks good he could find himself back out of the team again and in the VFL
With Lobb forced forward why wouldnt we be bringing Jones straight back in and keeping Bus there as well? Seems like a pretty clean switch for demonstrated need.

It's a fair shout to happen at some point.

For this week though, Port really only have Georgiades and Lord as tall targets, so JOD and Buss look sufficient tall backs.

Finlayson may push forward at times, but he is more a runner these days with 0 marks inside 50 all year. Cleary could take him.

At an open venue that is often windy, a more mobile backline may be the go.

Agreed - think JOD / Buss can handle the the Port talls. We do have Khamis / Lobb who can go back if need be. That’s enough coverage.

With Cleary / Williams able to play tall also.

Port midfield matches up well against us, Willem Drew is actually one of the ones to be mindful of as he's very good at shutting out his direct opponent and has done it vs Libba multiple times.

"He is chomping at the bit to pull the jumper on again, so if he gets through training like we expect, he will return to availability."

I doubt they would have included this in the injury report if he was coming back through the VFL.
He looks in ripping nick at the moment.... I guess now it is just about where you fit him in and how much game time he gets etc..

I prefer champing at the bit 🤪
Chomping is acceptable, but me no like.

My bad, I should have looked more closely regarding Mars capacity being reduced to 5,000 people. Normally decide 5 days before the game just got back from Canberra to find out it was all sold out. I think to only have capacity of 5,000 is wrong and we should not be playing there until the redevelopment is finished except for pre-season games. If need be bank some pay back games when the ground is upgraded.

It is probable that the round 18 game against win be a battle for the top 8 and possibly top 4. To have a capacity of 5,000 is is not on. The date, time and day is still to be determined and there only 3 other games in Melbourne games for the round so it could easily be at the G or Marvel.

Over to you Ahmet.

Hallelujah, this is supposed to be the elite level of AFL and to play it there whilst under construction and, let’s be honest, with a tiny crowd is just mind boggling to me.
It’s also going to be a terrible look visually on TV.

As usual they put dollars before members’ interests.

It's a good point. The good thing with our midfield this year is that we are less reliant on 1 or 2 individuals, with so many going through and contributing substantially.

That’s Toby Greene he is taking care of. He can’t be dropped now. Altho his elbow could have been a bit pointier.

with thanks CountryDog5
Is this what it’s come to? Toby Greene just lying there and taking it now from a first gamer? This rivalry is dead. Find us a new one AFL. All the ones you give us we keep breaking

Surely there is some flexibility in the arrangement because as it stands its a joke

If Treloar / Mcniel are back this week, it would make us close to full strength. Well as close to full strength we are getting anytime soon. With Darcy a few months off, Wightman & Marra unknowns.

Our midfield will be hard to handle. Lucky they are all capable of kicking multiple goals as we are still down considerable talent in the Forwardline.

No change.

No way Ads can come straight back into the seniors, surely?

We have done it with Bont (most important player) and JJ (history of injuries and over 30) in the last few weeks.

The club can replicate game scenarios in match simulation and the sub option can help us manage Treloar’s minutes, if necessary. The coming back through the twos philosophy is out of mode for senior quality players.

I don’t see the problem if he has been medically cleared to play and is capable to play minimum 70% game time.

There's no way VDM is getting dropped.

Hynes will be played in the VFL, Dolan will be sub, Treloar comes in.
Correct me if i'm wrong but i didn't Hynnes do much at all , although i dont know much about jaques but its time for him to get a crack at it
