I think I've got the plan sorted (after some real head scratching)

Jenkins will go to Ryder and then follow him into ruck

It's the only possible way Hartigan gets dropped

Guessing danger spends more time forward and hendo plays forward

Hendo spent some time up forward last week.

If TM is correct, it seems likely either Lever or O'Brien gets a game.
Surely it's cheney in, I'm actually hoping im wrong! With ports big forwards I can't see how we can cover them all without Hartman.

I really hope crows win. I know a guy and he is putting a countdown on facebook saying how bad the crows etc... just holding back

That's only a one week sort of fix though, we won't bring Hartigan back after one game, it's not going to fix his deficiIences. So we go in for the rest of the year too short.

I think dropping Hartigan is a bad move, a knee jerk reaction to an overall shit team effort.

You couldn't have said it any better - i totally agree!
It was a shit team performance and dropping hartigan is going to help develop him considering we are lacking massively in this position. i still think lever is bait raw as well after watching some sanfl games thus far.

Sorry i meant to say dropping hartigan is not going to help him develop and we will need his height and size this year especially when we play the sides with big forwards like sydney.
Also lever is still abit raw****

There's no way I'd drop Hartigan.

Sure, he may eventually be a bust BUT there's no point playing him in the SANFL and being unsure of this come the end of the year.

This is his year (or at least till Pods, Shaw, Otten are ready) to play all AFL games. Let's see if he can make it.

Playing on average SANFL forwards proves nothing.

I haven't heard anything from the club suggesting they would debut Lever. Has he been going okay is the ressies? I have only seen his stats for one game and they weren't that impressive (10 disposals).

My money is on O'Brien getting an upgrade.

He also played well on Westhoff in the preseason - is an option for Ryder and Lever is no way near ready to contain an AFL forward. Would be a massive call. If he is thinking about playing Jenkins in defence Walsh needs to watch the St Kilda game when Sando tried it. I doubt he would get any sleep after viewing.

The thing going for Lever if he debuts despite not super form in the SANFL is that Talia's form was only "solid" at SANFL level before getting selected for an AFL debut (although in saying that I'm pretty sure he didn't debut until late in his second year). Also, he's probably no more likely to re-injure his knee at AFL level than SANFL level so I don't think holding him back to protect his knee would be why he's not playing.

We will learn a lot about Phil this week. He has already shown he intends to play the long game. Sando's selections were based on "which 22 players will give us the best chance of winning on the weekend". Phil's approach has been "What will improve our chances of being a contender in 2017". Hence playing Hartigan instead of Podsiadly in round 1. CEY instead of an underdone Thommo. Kelly instead of reshuffling the backline.

If ever Phil would be tempted to "pick the best 22" it would be this week but he may see it as a great opportunity to find out what the KIDS can do.

I'm loving it.

We would have to be happy with a loss of 50 points against the 2014 Shouldabeen Premiers. Port Power confirmed on the weekend that it was only the poor umpiring in the preliminary final that stopped them from winning their 38th AFL Premiership. (No one could doubt that Port Power would have monstered Sydney in the Grand Final). They have added arguably one of the best three players in the AFL in Paddy Ryder and despite having a very young and inexperienced team, their exceptional fitness and amazing team plan means a 100 point mauling is very likely.

The loss of one of the top five AFL midfielders in Ollie Wines will make little difference because the Port Power midfield is so strong and there are quite a few players in the Magpies who would walk into the Crows starting line up.

I doubt if there will be more than 35,000 at the match and half of them will have left before half time.

I am only going to see the Never Tear Us Apart pregame entertainment.

Oh, no need to be harsh. After all, the thread is about predicting the result of the game and describing how good Port are. Its not like it has anything to do with what changes the Crows might make ;)
