B Kerridge Rutten Laird
HB Smith Talia Brown
C Mackay Dangerfield Sloane
HF Vince Lynch Douglas
F Porplyzia Jenkins Jaensch
1R McKernan Thompson Crouch
INT Lyons van Berlo Grigg (Wright)

OUT: Petrenko (inj), Jacobs (inj), Callinan, Henderson, Reilly, Otten
IN: Mackay, Lyons, Jaensch, Grigg, Brown, Wright

Six changes (four unforced) is big but this is our worse loss at home in a long while. Need to be some hard calls made. Sando's first selection statement.

Major changes:
Jaensch back in and permanent small forward
Jacobs out with McKernan/Jenkins to share ruck duties
Kerridge to defence as 3rd tall
Mackay back in and wing

Line up a bit small but we've been slow as treacle and were killed at ground level yesterday.

Carl, Jacobs is likely to be available so I'd at least put him on the interchange for VB...

To be honest, I'd give Jacobs a spell anyway. He cannot be 100% fit based on what we've seen so far.

A fortnight off, freshen up, start again for him against Gold Coast.

The McKernan-Jenkins ruck duo went ok when he got subbed off. Yes, struggled in the hit outs but gave us an extra dimension around the ground.

Possibly. Now I think about its a good idea. But still don't like VB on the interchange... its not his stats that concerns me, its his captains game which is non-existent IMO.

I've named him on the bench but I'd have him trail Deledio all game

Unless we're going to drop serial underperformers like VB and Reilly, we might as well go in unchanged.

Dropping Kerridge will achieve **** all.

Drop Kerridge will be acceptable if its to bring Lyons back or to blood Grigg. But we certainly need to send a strong message by dropping a big named player.

Rather see Grigg and Riley get a game before players that we have already recycled this season

Agree on those two, but I'd be happy to see Johncock in.

Rewarding good form and punishing bad form will be a good start towards fixing some of our attitude problems.

Listening to Bickley today Kerridge will get a rest. You can read between the lines they are blaming the youth for being beaten up by Sydney.

Who will they blame when Richmond do the same?
The kids they bring in.

Yesterday had very little to do with kids. Our senior players were equally responsible for panicking, not getting the ball, not tackling, skill errors and not working hard enough. At least the kids have an excuse.

There is some validity in that. Crouch, Jenkins and Kerridge probably played the worst games they will play as AFL footballers.

That's how it works though.

Inexperienced players have some good games, some quiet games and some crap.

They still play because they will improve and you can still win because your senior core carries the team with them and leads the way. Theoretically anyway.

Ours doesn't and hasn't for a long, long time.

This is one of the reasons we have been reluctant to pick kids for 8+ years. We've got so many mid-rangers that don't really help us win games that we can't afford 2-3 kids who are having quiet ones as well.

So we have to fill up the 22 with more mid-rangers just to get by on a week to week basis.

I'll never be able to find the thread but I called Neil a cheat once for doing this, given that he cashed in on previous coaches who had developed Edwards, Goodwin, McLeod, Burton, Ricciuto, Hart and co but wasn't prepared to do the same for the next generation.

It's always interesting reading these threads.

Everyone who played is somehow talentless. Everyone who didn't play is full of ability and essential skills.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
