You are thinking way too much into this, let it go.

No I'm not. It is an elemental hatred of them.

Despite what Yoda says, hate is at the very least a utilitarian emotion.

It allows you to define good.

Some of you have missed the point I think.

I'm not talking about you singing the theme song from your seat/area among the Essendon supporters. I was referring to a group of North supporters going to the Essendon end (Victory Room area) purely just to get a rise/bait opposition supporters. Which I'm not holding judgement on, it's just something I wouldn't do.

I sung the song just like every other North supporter did when the siren went.

Y'know what.. I just find this an incredibly soft point of view to take. On the night I personally never found myself anywhere near the Victory Room so hold no personal investment in this particular argument. But if this were any other team, would you give a ****? Honestly? This was an AFL game between two teams that have a bit of a historical rivalry.
Why are you getting your panties in a twist at the fact that North fans were getting stuck into the *essendon fans? The drug scandal only provided context to the insults and taunting. For North fans, *essendon will always be looked upon as an inferior joke of a team. They are pathetic. The fact they are now revealed as drug cheats has only enhanced and solidified that view.
Massive respect to everyone that sung the North Melbourne song in the vicinity of *essendon supporters. Hearts to hearts and hands to hands. Have some f***ing pride.

Yeah....nah

Yikes. I remember back in the day... the positive and sunny times believing North Melbourne supporters were somehow a little more intelligent than most typical AFL fans. Damn you, Internet for destroying that fantasy. :(

This coming from a person who has a 3 month old account on Bigfooty and is suggesting that I've got my panties in a knot? Have a read of what I first posted regarding this topic.

missed this as I am in London.. sounded fun :D

So you were born hating Essendon?

Pretty much. I know not every North supporter has the same multi generational location based link to the club like I do ... which is a good thing and doesn't in any way make me "more" of a North supporter than anyone else. In fact, we NEED more people to come and discover North and that is something I welcome.

Hence why I'm not saying you have to hate them like I do. It isn't mandatory. But feeling sorry for them in this case, I just don't get.

Say their plane they hired for that pre season game went down a la the Man United crash in 1958 (I think) Busby's Babes etc, yeah sure, that's a tragedy.

But they were trying to cheat in 2012. If we hadn't lost to them in Rd1, we would have got a home final, not had to go over to Perth and be smashed by those scum.

Now, Essendon barely beat us in Rd1 when they were all on the juice. Later in the year, once the drug program had stopped, we ran all over them two blokes down. Their cheating had a direct impact on our season.

You feel sympathy for that?

I have sympathy for supporters who worse case scenario won't have a team to support for a couple years. Try to imagine that for a second, that's rough. If that was our club, it would kill us.

In reference to some of my opinions I had on here and even on the Essendon board earlier in the year, what I said was before we knew about AOD 9604, Thymosin Beta 4 and the Ziggy report. Based on what I know now, there has to be accountability for whats been going on, the AFL will whack Essendon hard and so they should. In terms of players, I still think they are victims in all this and don't deserve bans. The situation they were put in is kinda like.....for example going to your local GP and getting an injection for something, but your doctor ends up giving you something else accidentally or purposely. Who is at fault in that case?

Very poor governance is what I'd call this, not cheating.

That won't happen.

You've swallowed Ian Hanke's PR bullshit. They took illegal substances - it's cheating. They knew it wasn't vitamins. They knew it was something that was meant to enhance their performance or their recovery. That they didn't ask the right questions to the right people is their own stupid fault. And culpability begins with the leadership group and Jab Watson in particular. I have the mildest sympathy for first year recruits who followed the example set by buffoons like Watson and McVeigh.

Love the work here. :D

Those guys leading the chant are always trying to get a rise from oppo supporters no matter what the team.

Had them have a big go at me when North were flogging us by a ton.(I was just walking past)

I think they're flobs tbh.

But the general crowd was great. Low numbers though, people probably scared off by the email from the club during the week which was annoying.

Sorry Dan but you are wrong, the intention was to gain an advantage over other clubs in the competition by stretching the rules to breaking point, that is cheating. We went to Nevada to gain an advantage (legal) * went to Nirvana to gain an advantage (cheating). The rest is semantics and working out the most suitable gradient of consequences for the * players and staff who participated knowingly or unknowingly in the cheating program.
