The Lions rarely play at the MCG - yesterday was only their second match there for the season while last year they had 1 match there. Maybe they should have requested yesterdays match be moved form the venue as it was unfair to play at a ground they aren't used to & is also longer than their home ground meaning the dimensions would be new to them

That sounds like a ridiculous take on things doesn't it - and that's because it is, just as it's ridiculous to suggest it's unfair to play finals at GMHBA because teams rarely play there

Gabba - 156m - 138m
MCG - 161m - 138m
GMHBA Stadium - 170m - 116m

which is the odd one out?

From an article last year - maybe all games should be played at the MCG & UNSW in Canberra since they are the closest in dimension to each other & surely that means it's the only fair option...

AFL BOUNDARY DIMENSIONS
Ground - length - width

UTAS Stadium - 175m - 145m
TIO Stadium - 175m - 135m
GMHBA Stadium - 170m - 116m
TIO Traeger Park - 168m - 132m
Adelaide Oval - 167m - 123m
Cazaly’s Stadium - 165m - 135m
Optus Stadium - 165m - 130m
Spotless Stadium - 164m - 128m
UNSW Canberra Oval - 162.5m - 138m
MCG - 161m - 138m
Jiangwan Stadium - 160m - 136m
Etihad Stadium - 160m - 129m
Mars Stadium - 160m - 129m
Blundstone Arena - 160m - 124m
Metricon Stadium - 158m - 134m
Gabba - 156m - 138m
SCG - 155m - 136m

Seriously though, is he as bad as made out?
Is that what club insiders and players think?
Or is it just a supporter thing?
I've always thought of him as a pretty good coach, and he's helped us to the finals this year, again.
If we go deeper than previous years I can't see him being replaced.

Im not saying good or bad ..just that its time to turn over a couple of the coaches

GABBA - it's in Queensland and thus is harder to get to if you play for Richmond; they may get lost going to the airport...

Totally agree - would love to see some fresh ideas & faces around the club

Surely time to move on the likes of O'Bree & Knights, and I also wouldn't be against Enright maybe having some time elsewhere.

KP stands out as far too narrow to be representative of the mean. Its a locked in inadequacy now ... as there is no easy way to change it..

Didn't notice how similar SCG and Gabba are until now

His mantra has always been to be put the club into a positon to compete in finals.

At the start of season not a soul predicted GFC to finish top of the ladder. Minor Premiers.

An amazing achievement.

Mission Accomplished.

Maybe now he should work on being able to compete in the finals. Putting yourself 'in a position' to do something isn't much good if you completely fail to follow through. If you're satisfied just making finals, then more power to you. I think currently success is measured by premierships, or at least the prospect of competing for them, and in every finals outing since 2011 we have looked completely incapable of making a GF once finals starts. How many top 2/4 finishes has that been coming from? You tell me, the stats are being bandied about right now. Geelong, the best H&A team of the decade, far more top 2/4 finishes than anybody. Number of GFs? Number of flags?

Sounds like unfair dismissal to me.
For which one? Enright or the other 2?

Don't get me wrong, loved Enright as a player, but I prefer the idea of our retired players getting experience or exposure at another club.

That's what we should be aiming for. Also should try to bring in people from clubs that have recently been successful. Keeping too many of our own or keeping the same people for too long runs the risk of the club becoming overly insular and stagnant in its thinking.

Getting rid of coaches that are obviously coaching us well?
Might need a better reason than "fresh faces" and "hasn't been exposed at another club" to send them packing, surely?
Even Carlton waits until things aren't going so well before sacking staff.

Let's see how the finals go.
Yes, I agree. A poor to very poor showing would change things.
But, it would be very unstabilising and bad for moral to simply sack performing coaches(particularly past champions) because of the reasons stated.
Of course, football isn't quite like the corporate world, but our club has done well (and I don't just mean on the field) by being stable and treating people appropriately.

I reckon the job security of those mentioned would be utterly dependent on our performance in these finals.

They've been able to get us to repeated final series yes, but they've also been unable to get the mental and physical ability of the boys to the standard required to be a genuine finals contender in years by.

If they get us deep this year then their perseverance and mentoring should be recognised, but if we crash and burn early yet again, well, maybe it'll be time to acknowledge they simply can't get us over that hurdle.

Yes, there's always an if.
I'm sure part of their KPIs are very much invested in better finals results.
