Coaches under pressure in 2018

No way would Beveridge be under pressure. 2019 maybe if they continue but he delivered them their first flag in a period where many weren't expecting it. He is fine. Not to mention Bulldogs weren't terrible; sure they didn't make the finals but they lost a couple of close games, finished just outside the 8; nah he is fine.

Simpson is screwed if eagles miss out on the finals again. And I imagine the pressure would be on Lyon if they have another terrible year despite his contract. Richardson probably as well.
If he can't produce next year then it will confirm 16 was a fluke. Must improve next year to survive.

First Premier since '09 to miss finals and looked miles off it all season.
Reports of major disharmony behind the scenes, players coaches all the way up to the board.
A favourite son stepping away and a few Premiership participants to be traded no doubt.
Got to wonder what the future holds for the Dogs.
Are they returning from whence they came after the briefest moment in the sun? How hard will they fall? There's potential for a major and sustained crash here I feel, "Footscray has gone dark" style.
I wonder will the AFL need to step in and assist as they have with this club in the past and are currently with the GCS?
Why was this moved?

They still made finals in 2015 and just missed out this year. The team isn't a heap of crap. Lyon has given freo two bad years and he is fine. Beverage won a flag; 2019 is when anyone will care. Winning a flag gives you a massive benefit of the doubt

No contest- If Nathan Buckley gets reappointed just image the feeding frenzy if they start the season 2-5 or similar, he would be gone at the bye.
Rubbish, He could go 0-22 and not get sacked, because nothing is his fault.

EDIT: This was an OP about Bulldogs in general, not Beveridge as a coach, moved here immediately after thread was started by a seemingly very touchy Bulldogs mod tonight. Poor form.

I'd like the AFL to step in and assist. What are they assisting with again?

Absolutely clueless. We have one of the youngest cores(our best players) in the competition, yet you're asking how hard we will 'fall'?

Our top 10 rated players this year by Champ Data are:
1 Marcus Bontempelli (21 yrs old)
2 Jackson Macrae (23 yrs old)
3 Luke Dahlhaus (24 yrs old)
4 Mitchell Wallis (24 yrs old)
5 Toby McLean (21 yrs old)
6 Jason Johannisen (24 yrs old)
7 Lachlan Hunter (22 yrs old)
8 Shane Biggs (25 yrs old)
9 Caleb Daniel (21 yrs old)
10 Marcus Adams (24 yrs old)

Our 3 best players in our Premiership win last year were Johannisen (23 at the time), Tom Boyd (21 at the time) and Bontempelli (20 at the time).
We've also got a 23yr old All-Australian Jake Stringer who is currently injured (As well as off field issues having just divorced after having 2 kids at such a young age).

We were simply a very young team that won a flag way ahead of schedule, then got ahead of themselves and celebrated too hard in the off season (as seen on almost all their instagrams).
To think that a team with this talented young core will "fall" and "crash" to the point where the "AFL will need to step in and assist" is probably the dumbest thing I've ever read of Bigfooty.

Even if Bevo is the worst coach in the AFL (which he isn't), natural improvement from age/experience of our young core would be enough to keep us competitive in the future.

Just imagine if Bucks gets a two year deal and the sacking talk is just as strong this time next year. At least with a new coach you'd feel like progress is being made towards something. With Bucks still in place and Collingwood still getting flogged, it'd be same old same old. I think the fans simply wouldn't turn up.

Except the Pies haven't been getting flogged at all this year, which is definite progress over 2015-2016. A positive percentage, seven losses by under 20 points, plus a draw, and only two losses by 30+ (the biggest being by 37).

I would expect the consistent competitiveness and buy-in from the players to result in an extra 3-4 of those near misses and valiant losses to be turned into wins next year.

Man this is a lazy attempt at trolling. Lift your game a little.

2018 is the 3rd and final year of the list reset/overhaul.

Absolutely zero pressure on Bolton internally.

Correct, we would have to reach Melbourne under Mark Neeld levels if ineptitude for him to be in danger.

As long as we keep seeing a clear game style and individual improvements he will be fine. Obviously would like to jump up the ladder ASAP but we need to be realistic. We still lack midfield depth and a functioning forward line. Some of that will be resolved by natural improvement and by good drafting/trading. 2019 is realistically when we should be jumping up the ladder and if we aren't by then Bolts will be in trouble.

He'll get a 2 year deal for the purpose of keeping the media at bay. But no-one is fooled, he has to get Collingwood back into the top 8 in 2018 to be around in 2019.

Adam Simpson - took the Eagles from strength to strength in his first two seasons followed by two equally disappointing seasons. Expected a flag and missed the finals instead. With an aging list will need to make finals to remain beyond next season.

Luke Bevridge - After the incredible 2016, the Dogs were this years biggest flop. With high expectations and a keen President finals are a minimum

Nathan Buckley - although now likely to stay on until at least 2019, which should keep media at bay, internal pressure remains. Must improve w/l ratio

Ken Hinkley - has yet to have a win beyond week 2 of the finals. Will be into his 6th season. Grand final or bust.

Ross Lyon - despite some competitive performances a string of 100 point hidings have the Dockets asking if he is the right man to go forward with.
Unlikely that he will survive the bye if the Freo are bottom 4.

Brad Scott - stuck in no mans land. Needs long term commitment or may walk.

Beveridge - I think he will be fine, I have a feeling they'll scrape into the finals next year (just not get anywhere).

Hinkley - It is harsh to stay on "Grand final or bust." Won't have to make a grand final for him to be safe.
Unless if Port finish lower than 10th next year, I reckon he is safe.
