They won their first (VFA) senior flag in 1896..the last year before the breakaway comp and the formation of the VFL.

1901 to 1909- 4 GFs, 2 flags
1910 to 1919- 6 GFs, 3 flags
1920 to 1929 - 7 GFs, 3 flags
1930 to 1939- 6 GFs , 3 flags

1940 - 49’ No GFs
( WW2 starts in 39’ until 1945. Many Collingwood players enlisted)

1950 to 1959- 5 GFs, 2 flags
1960 to 1969- 3 GFs, 0 flags
1970 to 1979 - 4 GFs, 0 flags (77’ draw vs NMFC)
1980 to 1989- 2 GFs, 0 flags
1990 to 1999- 1 GF, 1 flag
2000 to 2009- 2 GFs, 0 flags
2010 to 2019 - 4 GFs, 1 flag ( 10’ draw vs Saints )

2023 1 GF, 1 flag

Hate to admit it but that’s a pretty good record that no other club comes close to…

Could people please stop counting 2010 as making 2 grand finals.

5 flags in 70 years?

how far back do we need to look for a club like the hawks to have 5 flags?

They’re been involved in a grand final nearly every decade for120 years ..that’s the point.

Just because everyone ignores and scoffs at Port Power’s ridiculous ownership of the Port Adelaide Magpie SANFL flags …doesn’t mean you should get uptight.

How many Grand Finals do you think were held at Victoria Park? The MCG is the home of football, we just happen to play home games there.

It’s interesting too that out of the 45 grand finals..Collingwood have only played one of them not at the G. (1901 Lake Oval)

The MCG was taken over by the Allied forces for a few years during WW2 and GFs were played at other grounds.
But the Pies weren’t involved in any.

How many of the other big clubs made GFs every decade until the 80s before expansion and equalisation?

Really? How about an impressive record for a sporting club over 120 years?

How about …” Collingwood’s impressive GF appearance record vs the other foundation clubs”..that a better title?

Jesus, very touchy

Don’t even know the stats but it doesn’t seem as impressive if four sides have made GFs basically every decade from 1900s-1980s. Kudos to them for consistently making it to GFs since when the other three have had long dry spells

It’s the sheer number of gf appearances that dwarf other foundation clubs in EFC, Carlton, MFC and Geelong that we’re talking about ..

So why don't you do the research and let us know?

As for this Collingwood record, I'm extremely impressed!

Errrrr…HFC didn’t join the league until 1925.
Won their first in 61’

The other way around......

The pies are a great club but the hawks won 3 flags last decade, 1 the decade before and 1 or 2 the decade before

Thus the hawks only have to look back 30 years for 5 flags

For me, there is no club like the Hawks

The pies are definitely great but most of their success exists in an amateur era

Thanks you Shane Heard as a neutral, for looking at this from a positive perspective rather than a way to use it to put down a collingwood supporter. The consistency over such a long time frame is quite remarkable, and I am quite amazed and grateful that they find a way to keep appearing over such a long duration.
After the passing of the great Ron Barassi and talk of a Barassi curse. Being into history I looked at Ron Barassi birth year, which was 1936. Collingwood won the flag, followed by loosing the next 3 in a row 1937-39, then again in their next appearance in 1952. Over his lifetime Collingwood went from a positive winning grand finals records to very poor performing team, 5/23 GF win record. and I wondered after his passing that it ends with a Collingwood premiership just like it did with his birthyear

Other fun facts…In the 40 seasons from 1920 to 1960.Collingwood played in 19 of those Grand Finals….with basically 10 years wiped in the 40s because of the Nazis.

Damn you Hitler , damn you to hell . I didn’t like you before , but now I’ve learned you stopped Collingwood’s GF streak you’ve really gone down in my estimation.

There is no such thing as port power?
They're the same club. Anybody who's dismisses this clearly doesn't no history.
We take as much ownership as our success in the amateurs as you do and as every other club should.

Last time I checked 5 mins ago , port Adelaide magpies still have a team in the SANFL.
Collingwood FC have always been the same one club.
