No one is going to say we played a great game of footy yesterday but our 3 talls outscored Adelaide’s, GC, Hawks and drew with Brissie with their much talked about three tall forward strategies. Bullies 2 talls outscored them all.

Do you mean this one?
I was gonna go pull it out but the media team are hot onto it;

My seats are on the other side of the ground and I couldn't work out how he did that.

And at the end of that clip ... Lews Young - holding the ball. Josh Daicos - play on. That was almost exactly the same thing Daicos did in the closing stages against Freo the other week.

Players can sometimes get away with it if they get their other hand to the ball even if it isn't actually a handball (or the umpire can't see if they did/didn't), on the full replay there's a clear gap and the umpire was in perfect position so he was gooooooooone.

As for Serong it was on our side and I still have no idea either. I have no idea after watching the replay 10 times.

Although JOM did a good job inside after half time, he isn't the answer. Is Jackson the answer. Not so sure, he has the craft ATM for it.

Relying on JOM inside will look like pre Young days when the mids were getting smashed.

I don't think JOM is the exact answer, but I thought he did a pretty great job in challenging circumstances.

Since he's come back from injury he's provided a lot more of the post-Mundy presence/experience we originally brought him in for, team oriented stuff at the expense of some of the out-and-out better form he was hitting earlier in the year.

AND our 3 did it in the rain and with a swirling breeze that they had to adapt to. Bulldogs 2 talls were under the roof and out of the wind, so you'd expect them to have a bit of an easier time.

I was unsettled during the game and even after it became apparent we were going to run over the top of them I still felt it. The disturbance in the force it turned out was the retro jumper. I had to research to see if I was right:

- At some point they have got their wires crossed and taken the anchor size from the original jersey (no flukes, thinner and higher). The original purple haze jumper had a much thicker anchor as per the home jumper of the time. The thin achor makes this copy look too purple!

- The original also had a wide flare up to the neck, where as this copy just goes almost straight up. The flukes also end too close to the armpit in the new.

- The original also only had only white advertising patches on it, which probably helped the aesthetic.

I am not a crackpot. Thank you for your attention.

You’re not crazy, I noticed the exact same thing. This jumper was uncanny valley.

Speaking of that jumper... I campaigned long and hard for the purple haze to become our new home jumper. In fact, I take 100% of the credit (or 1500% as Trump would say) for the change away from the red and green thanks to this thread in 2008.

But... now I've gotten used to our new jumpers it felt like the anchor last night was lacking something, and not just the uncanny valley thing you're talking about. It just seemed a little less sharp and menacing than the chevrons. Almost gave off training jumper type vibes.

I'm really hoping we stick with our chevron jumpers forever now and they become an iconic symbol of the club like the old Vic clubs have.

Watching the replay reinforces what I thought live - there's been some egregious short steps from Freddy where he doesn't commit his body through the ball. The worst I've seen from him since the first Saints game.

Weirdly enough he's a barometer of sorts for us. Not because he sets the tone, but because he reflects it. Those days where we're just not switched on and ready to crack in it stands out so much in his efforts.

I think after the St Kilda game the sense of maturity with the defense is evident. Normally previously when we getting smashed in the clearances and the ball coming in thick and fast the dam wall would just burst and you'll get ryan throwing his hands up blaming the players upfield in frustration, or they would think fck it, let the flood gates open

But even yesterday although the blues were able pile on the early goals and cracks in the dam wall they held strong

My theory on Freddy is that he is cognisant to the nth degree of the duty of care to the opponent rule when approaching a ground ball contest.

I knew he had plenty of the ball.

He got the most disposals as a docker with 30 disposals.

I know he is a defender or defensive flanker.

He looks like a versatile mid that could get 20 to 25 disposals a game on the inside mid role or outside mid.

He is clean with the ball
Try Clark in the midfield. He has the speed and aggression and ball winning ability and kicking. Put Young back to half back until his fitness is back and hes done a full preseason again. Wagner to the wing. Run Forrest Run. We will be a running machine.
