Barry Hall has written a submission to the AFL to be awarded the 2008 Brownlow Medal. Cooney "won" that year with 24 votes and Barry Hall got 4. But, after reading Max's very astute article, he's realised that IF he hadn't have snotted Brent Staker and got 7 weeks for it, he would have been eligible to win AND would have played 7 extra games which he MIGHT have been BOG in all of them, earning the 21 votes he needed. It makes sense.

His submission would gain extra traction if he described Cooney as "current Bomber player" and signed off "Barry Hall ex-Western Bulldog champion".

The Bob could table it on AFL360 and Robbo and Gerard could start a media campaign.

Who were they again? IIRC, one of them was Sh(m)itt. Don't tell me Bulldog Pannell was one of the others?

On second thoughts, don't tell me. They do a tough job to the best of their ability and without their input AFL would not be the wonderful spectacle it is today.

Donlon, Bannister and you got it in one, Pannell.

My favourite bit of that article:

"Then against North Melbourne in Round 6 it was the same story. The Bulldogs had one fewer scoring shot than the Kangaroos but had higher-quality chances, meaning in a game they lost by 16 points, they should have won by eight."

They had one less scoring shot than us, but they still totally should have won anyway?

That bolded comment is so funny! :D:D

Pannell was on a roll there until he overdid it with the Adelaide game. The umpire Nazi at AFL House said to him "no more Bulldog games for you, Bulldog!"

Loses nothing on a 2nd reading. To think I missed the 'Brotherly Love' reference on first read. You have earnt your goats this week my friend.
The fact that the statue is rusty is that extra flourish of genius you don't get just anywhere.

And of course 23 to 14 free kicks.

They got an armchair ride with those lime green marghetts.

Yeah the way they kicked that night, more free kicks was a disadvantage

We do like betting our left testicles around here.

Too many X chromosomes bouncing around in that left sac. Just sayin'

Kingy should know.. he has a daughter!!

The umpires appointments have been released and there is NO PRIZES to guess who Bulldog Parnell is umpiring this week.. he may even get a massage inflight in business class.

Shirley not the Port Adelaide game?

Don't tell me Bulldog Parnell is umpiring someone other than his beloved Bulldogs??...

The ink of the Bulldog Premiers 2016 tattoo has barely dried, he was going to have the big reveal to his idol Willis Minson at the first bounce this weekend..

That's cruel!

SIAP - http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-09/your-clubs-midyear-report-card-part-two

What's worked:
The pre-season plan to hit round one firing on all cylinders. The Kangas are winning games they're expected to and have set up their season with nine wins on the trot.

What hasn't: It's not a major concern, but Ben Brown can be exploited when he pinch-hits in the ruck and North can lose some momentum.

Who haven't we seen enough of yet: Mason Wood. The versatile forward has impressed in his four games, but lack of opportunity in the early rounds followed by concussion means it's been a stop-start season to date.

Indispensable: Robbie Tarrant. Todd Goldstein is irreplaceable in the ruck too, but Tarrant is in All Australian calculations and no other Roo can stand monster key forwards with the same surety.

Coach score: Brad Scott shook things up over the summer after failing to win in round one from six attempts and – now a game clear on top at the halfway mark - the Roos' slow starts are a distant memory. His staunch defence of ageing warriors is being rewarded. 10/10

Big improver: Luke McDonald had a dose of the second-year blues last season, was brought in late for the semi-final and dropped for the prelim, but has cleaned up his kicking and is making much smarter decisions in defence.

Didn't see that coming: Nine straight victories to start the campaign. Some North fans still get nervous, but these Kangaroos win the games they should.

Non-negotiable: Having taken the opening half of the season by storm, the Roos' experienced group can't afford to waste this opportunity by dropping off and coughing up a finals double-chance.

Pass mark for the rest of the year: North has arguably the toughest run home of any side but, two wins clear of third, the Kangas shouldn't let a top four spot slip from here. That's the minimum for a pass mark, however top-two must be the aim. - Travis King

Seems reasonable enough.

They only spoke about us briefly:

- could not have positioned ourselves better. took full advantage of our draw
- challenge will come in second half of season. Johnno says we will definitely finish top 4 but he expects top 2.
- Kingy said we have unique players (Waite, Wells, Harvey, Ziebell) that will help our chances.
- Kingy said that he thinks we have to be the healthiest list come Septmenber because he's not sure about our 22-25th ranked players
- Healy said something about needing to get back Higgins and Jacobs and get them fit before September to have a chance.
- Kingy is genuinely fapping himself silly on national television over how good the Dogs and Adelaide are. I mean properly pants around the ankles, appendage in hand, reciting statistics in increasing fequency and with an ever higher pitch, waving his free hand overhead clutching an image of the Bont as he reaches his impending climax.

Perhaps an artist could be commissioned to create a painting of this epic fap? Something with a bit of a biblical feel like the Last Supper for example? A flush cheeked King front and centre, about to baby bird a gaping Robbo as the frequency of his fap rises to a crescendo....Gerard bathed in the divine light of the Premiership predictor in the background ...Archangel Brad Johnson grinning like a Cheshire cat in the background as he prepares to ascend to a higher realm...The Bont overseeing it all from a golden winged throne high in the clouds...
I'd be more than willing to shell out a grand of my hard earned for a limited edition print of such a piece. Fully framed of course...

Funny that, i never once felt like we were going to lose that game despite it being a low scoring and technically close on the scoreboard.
We dominated it.

Seeing that a free kick for is regarded as a contested posession, and the chihuahua's have scored more than 80 than they have given away, i am not surprised that Kingy interprets the raw data and concludes that they are the toughest team in the league

He's ba-ack! After a couple of weeks in the wilderness not doing Bulldogs games (where he can do his thang) or our games (where he can screw us over), he's doing the Port v Bulldogs game.

If he's not careful, he'll need a police escort to the airport after the game.
