Personally I would take Trescothick over Hayden any day for his consistency and reliability

stupid thread to make.. so what you are beating the windies what is there to brag about when u got completely outplayed by the english not so long ago, who cares about averages... the west indies have the best batsman in the world, it hasnt helped them

A fairer comparison would be

Trescothick > Hayden
Strauss > Langer
Vaughan > Ponting
Bell <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Hodge
Pietersen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hussey
Flintoff >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Symonds
G.Jones > Gilchrist
Giles <<< Warne
S.Jones > Lee
Hoggard > MacGill
Harmison > McGrath

9-2 Englands way

Harmison is greater than McGrath...right...well...possibly...wait...NO!

Also, you have used heaps of > or < for those comparisons in the middle order, but only three for Warney > Giles. Think Shane deserves a tad more than that, Giles is useless.

Geraint Jones is better than Gilchrist? Maybe you are referring to Gilchrist hitting it in the air a fair bit, at least Geraint keeps the ball down I suppose (when he is keeping).

Strauss is better than Langer? I think you're pushing the boundaries a bit there, being a bit lenient on your international exchange player.

Vaughan is better than Ponting? I think Punter has well and truly got Vaughan covered, batting, fielding and even bowling.

Hussey is better than Pietersen, as neither have really given enough data Tests-wise, you have to go on FC cricket. Hussey's record is better than Pietersen's, especially considering that Hussey is playing a higher standard of cricket. Pietersen is a glorified slogger.

Flintoff may be a lot better than Symonds, but you're still extending the boundaries by saying Symonds is in our first XI.

With those errors corrected, it is 6-5 Australia's way, meaning I won't bother explaining that MacGill and Hayden are a thousand times better than Hoggard and Trescothick...you probably realised that anyway.

Hahahha

Pieterson ********s on Hussey.

Pieterson can block, unlike Symonds....

- Trescothick vs Hayden: Hayden sh*ts all over Trescothick Eddie,
- Strauss vs Langer: Strauss, similar technique to Langer. Has a better career record, would still probably rather Langer, but that's probably my bias shining through.
- Vaughan vs Ponting: don't need to say anything about that,
- Bell vs Clarke: Clarke you would say has more potential, but both have played very ordinary when exposed to bowlers who actually know how to bowl.
- Pieterson vs Hodge: Fair enough call there. Pietersen has had a great start to his international career, Hodge's has just started and will basically be a seat warmer for our next superstar batsman.
- Flintoff vs Symonds: Flintoff hands down there,
- Jones vs Gilchist: Jones wouldn't even be able to catch a cold let alone a cricket ball travelling at 100km/h.
- Giles vs Warne: Don't even know how Giles warrants a spot in the English team. One of, if not the worst spinner in international cricket
- Jones vs Lee: Jones has had one good series, Lee is starting to find his feet again, but Jones wins this.
- Hoggard vs MacGill: No chance Hoggard is > than MacGill. MacGill has a better average, better strike rate and the only thing agaisnt MacGill is his eco rate.
- Harmison vs McGrath: How people rate Harmison as the second best pace bowler is beyond me.

Through my calculations:
Aus 6
Eng 4
With Bell vs Clarke, being deadlocked due to the crappiness of both players

These player v player comparison threads are stupid

I am not going to get involved with an England v Australia slanging match, both sides have their strong and weak areas. Both, are very good sides.

Finally.

Michael Clarke & Ian Bell = GREAT MEN COMETH.
Short term pain = Long term gain.

:thumbsu:
