One problem with a weekly comp is that interest will die down pretty quickly. League comps sustain interest longer.
But there's no designing happening during the playing period so
 
I like the idea of using a random number generator for colours and whatnot, but I do think there are far too many league comps. I reckon it could work as a weekly comp. Randomly generate colours that everyone has to work with.
Who said it was a league comp? Just because it's in this thread, doesn't mean it's a league idea.

And that's what we need o do. We need to keep the interest alive. All the weekly comps get out on hold because the runner forgets or gets busy. I realise that life gets in the way, but surely others can step up?

My idea was not a league style comp. it was to run on a monthly basis with 2 weeks for designs to come in and 2 weeks for the poll. (Poll could be 1 week).
I like the idea of a random generator.
I can do it for say 50 colours, Nicknames and Location.
I will choose the first round and the winner of each corresponding rounds will choose the next.
I will also design up a winners board where each winner will be put on to.
 
I'm thinking of running a little comp here on the FJGD board,
would like some feedback on what others think and if it would be successful. Or in fact it may have been done before.

- Start of comp there will be 3 random colours given, each entry must contain 1 home Guernsey in these specific colours.
- Winner of the month will get to choose the 3 next colours for the following month.

It would be interesting to see the different designs that will come up using all the same colours.

I have randomly numbered 50 colours, 50 Locations & 50 Nicknames.
Winner of the month will give me his/her selections for the next month e.g. Colours: 8,34,48 Location: 3 Nickname: 50 - This will determine the next random team
Each entry will use the exact same colours, location and nickname as everyone else.
Each entry must have 1 Home Guernsey and 1 Logo
It is totally up to the designer if they want to add sponsors or not.
 
There seems to be a few other competitions almost on the go, but I'll just throw my idea for one out there.

THUNDERDOME - Two Teams Enter, One Team Leave
Obviously I've been watching the Mad Max movies recently.

This competition will work in seasons, each season will have two episodes and each episode will consist of one knockout style tournament. The polls will only last 2-3 days though so each episode shouldn't take too long. Hopefully that part isn't too complicated?

Each season will be based on a design element, like sashes, hoops, stripes, chevrons etc. A blue sash on a black jumper might not win so you'll need to think outside the box, multiple sashes, gradients or whatever you may come up with. The colours are up to what each person wants to use.

The goal for the 16 competitors is to create a jumper based on the element of the season and PM it to me by the due date. There are two episodes to give everyone a chance to make changes to their jumper. Use common sense when making changes, people are free to make fairly major changes but don't completely change the core idea of the jumper. Those eliminated early in the episode will have more time to go over their jumper, while those who last longer will have less time because they probably won't have too many changes to make.

Design a new Adelaide Logo and Away Guernsey combo? Club has shown signs they will change either end of the year or next.
I'd say that's probably more suited to a workshop rather than a competition. If you want to make it a workshop, you don't need the 10 likes, you can just put it up

I notice TigerDyer has a connection with EagleOz so I'd be pretty disappointed if you were trying to manipulate the system, I respect you as a poster.

I'm also not going to count the likes from those three accounts toward my idea.

OK So I just found out that those other 2 were my brother who signed these up to get me more likes for the comp. please ignore these.

Ah yes, when FJGD went through its warm up top phase. What a time to be alive.

FWIW, I literally just got a laptop that might actually be able to think about running Photoshop, so I should be able to enter more comps more often. I get most of my ideas for weekly comps on the couch, but it's at least 15 steps from my couch to my desktop computer, so my motivation for the designs usually fizzles out pretty quickly.
 
OK I have another idea for a brand new comp, hopefully this one might get the nod to go ahead.

This is something totally different and hope you may all enjoy it

ULTIMATE TEAM DESIGN SHOWDOWN (It’s time we all worked as a team)

  • Teams of 3 (these teams will be drawn at random so the top designers cant just team up)
  • Each team will produce 1 Home strip, 1 away strip & 1 logo ( 1 member does the home strip, 1 member does the away strip and of course the other designs the logo)
  • The only thing that each team will be able to discuss before designing is, Name and Colours. The rest they must come up with themselves.
  • Each person must PM me their designs.
  • Each team must nominate a captain who I will PM him/her their other team member designs and they must put them all on one picture (this is the reason I need everyone to PM me their designs so I know if captain has changed any designs)
  • Each team will have 2 weeks to get their submissions in. with 1 week for the poll.
  • There will be 10 rounds in total, each round there will be a different design category.
  • After each round teams will be rewarded with a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. Whichever team has the best tally after 10 rounds wins.
Anyway this is what I have come up with so far, if anyone wants to add their opinion feel free.
Lets hope I can get 10 likes for this.
 
As I am looking to change a few things for the Jumper Tipping Competition for next season, I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in having tipping competition over the summer so I could test some things out. Hopefully this will make running the AFL version much easier and streamline the rules through without any errors. I was looking at either doing the EPL (starts Saturday night), the A-League (October 8) or the NFL (September 11). Thought?
