Hey fam

So, with Can-Am nearing it's completion, FIRA having finished a while back, the NAFL running business as usual but ANAL apparently in limbo (what's happening there, Fizzler, Stewart2Austin, NM_Mitchell and The Half Back?), I thought I'd bring back up that FJGD Champions League idea floated a while back and volunteer to organise it, assuming no one else called dibs .

Here's my proposed structure:
  • Premiers from the last completed season of NAFL (Hobart Hornets), Can-Am (TBD), FIRA (Valletta Pride) and ANAL (TBD).
  • Round-robin format mirroring the UEFA CL Group Stage.
  • Top two from the round-robin will play off in a best-of-three final. Higher placed team gets first choice of uniform for games 1 and 3 (if required).
  • Teams will use the same designs from the season in which they were crowned premiers.

Of course, there is still lots to work out (participants, league logo, allowing different templates, a logo round, prizes, what to do with reserves premiers etc.), so this won't get started for a month or two at best.

But if the board doesn't want me to go it alone, I'm also open to having an organising committee made up of some senior members of the board to write the regulations and ensure we have the best possibly run Champions League.

Over to you, FJGD.
League comps are too saturated. 2 or 3 is more than enough. Plus there's people thinking they can take on more responsibility than they inevitably can, ala the ANAL, or the CCRC being posted weeks late, etc.

What about the old Heavyweight championships? That way people can get some immediate feedback on designs rather than being locked out

I've actually been thinking about that, if no one else wants to run it, I'll pick it up again after my exams.

Well I was honestly thinking of running a soccer design league- if people are interested?

Yes

A football league or two at absolute max to offset the set in stone NAFL should really be it.

CCRC should go again. A soccer league something I've been thinking about too.

Four teams and eight or nine three day long polls really ain't much effort.

I'll run a soccer comp. I've been campaigning for one for a while now, plus we have had a rugby one so I thinks it's time for a soccer one.

I'll run it because i'm pretty sure I am the only frequent poster on the board who hasn't run a comp yet. (just as long as i'm still allowed to enter a design)

Would you run a weekly comp? I think that if we had s few weeks of that under our belts, it'd be more experience before the launch of a league based comp for the same subject

I can certainly run a weekly comp or a league comp. exams coming up in the next 2 weeks, then i'm pretty much done for the year.

So I got plenty of time to do it. Plus I believe I am capable of running either.

PROPOSAL

"Football League of Oceania"

An association soccer competition comprised of 12-18 more teams based in Australia and New Zealand (with potential of one or two teams from Asia) set across a Western and Eastern conference. Bidding would ideally commence immediately, with the competition beginning following the conclusion of the NAFL Reserves 2015-16 season. This competition will also include a knock-out cup.

Entires will require an original logo (no recolours) and three full kits with front and back- a home kit, an away kit that contrasts with the home kit and a Cup kit.

You might want to include what would be required for each design and any other rules that would be incorporated (e.g. shirt shorts and socks, or just the shirts, what kits would be required, are logos needed and if so do they have to be original or can they be recolours, will there be a limit of the number of teams from a specific region/state/city, etc.).

That way it will give everyone a better idea of what you are proposing (though I don't see a problem with this receiving the required number of votes)

If people would prefer to avoid conferences, that can be done- just thought it'd be an interesting idea.
Conferences based on location haven't done very well in the past (Actually, I think it's about 50/50 from memory).

But in saying that, if there was two competitions going (a conferences one and an overall Cup where one team plays everyone in both conferences once) I think it may work

Yeah, I think if you're bumping something 4 months old and it hasn't gotten 10 likes, it's a no.

We need some sort of time limit here. Good ideas get their 10 votes in a day, tops. Certainly no longer than say, 3 days.
