Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

The announcement has been delayed so that we can finalise the details of the competition. Also, there's no point posting too much about it now, seeing as we only start in June. We can assure you that all will run smoothly, and we wish to host a competition that matches the caliber of other medium sized competitions on this board.

I said I would put something out yesterday, so I did.

There was no need for the graphic though, a simple post saying that you had delayed the bid would have sufficed.

Unfortunately an assurance that it will run smoothly means nothing. Grandsun has done the same in the past and we have seen how that turned out. Put out a solid brief that is convincing to people on this board and have a proven track record of posting on the board and you might have a chance, but as it stands now with the current discussion about the competition on this thread including the responses to some of the suggestions I cannot see it getting over the line.

To get it up and running you WILL really need to provide everyone with a brilliant submission, and no more posts about it that do nothing but waste time or discard peoples thoughts and suggestions.

I am not trying to discourage you, but once people get turned off an idea it becomes really hard to get them to change their minds and at the moment I do not see many being in favour of this competition.

10 likes and a mods decision will get it over the line I would say. But will it get 10 likes? I think that's the point creagus is trying to make.
I'm on the fence whether to give it a like or not when/if it ever gets proposed. From what I've seen since I've been back and in the last few posts especially I think the comp will fall over if it gets up/goes ahead.

Has a champions league been brought up before? Let's say
Preliminary Round:
Runner Up of CAN-AM
Runner Up of FIRA
Runner Up of NAFLR
Runner Up of AAL

Main Stage:
Winner of FIRA
Winner of CAN-AM
Winner of NAFL
Winner of AAL
Winner of NAFLR
Runner up of NAFL
Winner of Qualifier
Winner of Qualifier

There are two options that could be done but to make it quick and sharp maybe the first option could work:

OPTION A:
Preliminary Round is only 1 game for teams to win to progress to the Main Stage. So basically Preliminary would be straight knockout.

OPTION A:
Knockout i.e. Quarter Finals one game only. If you lose, you are out

OPTION B:
Knockout i.e. Quarter Finals two leg. Home and Away legs. If you lose, you are out.

OPTION C:
Group Stages i.e. have two groups of 4 teams either have it one game vs everyone in your group or two legs i.e. home and away legs.

Feel free to ask me questions.

I raised a champions league idea a few years ago. Nothing came of it.

The main issue comes when, let’s say, Freight Train wins more than one comp. I would say that if a user wins more than one competition then they can pick which team they want to continue with and the teams below them move up a place.
Also could I suggest that the NAFLR winner probably shouldn’t be in the main stage by default. The winner should be in the Qualifiers and the runner up shouldn’t be in the Qualifiers.
Would the designers in this comp design a special Chanpions League jumper?

My proposal was no they use their jumpers from the season let's say with the champions logo on it.. If the users are happy to then they could design special champions league jumpers.

It'd be a good idea if someone else ran it.
Not exactly. I can't imagine how hard it would be to **** up a cup comp with four rounds at most. As opposed to a league which does take up a significant chunk of time.

Hey guys, so the BigFooty Olympics are back up and running! Put your bid in here:

I'm still keen on bringing back the Olympics idea Spanna_ had a couple of years ago. I was looking forward to that!

It required you to create your own made up country, flag, colours, IOC logo, as well as a cricket uniform, AFL, soccer, basketball, ice hockey and baseball (and some other ones I may not have completed at the time). As well as opening ceremony attire. It was a cool concept at the time :) Any interest?

How about a BBL style AFLX bidding comp?

Each week there's a new city is chosen, and we all bid for that cities license, poll comes up a week later.

1 team in Perth, adelaide, tasmania, Sydney, Brisbane, and three teams in Victoria.

What do we think?
Would rather more of a spread.
Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania, Geelong, Sydney, Brisbane, GC, North Queensland, Darwin, Canberra and 2*Melbourne.
2*6 conferences and a grand final.

Conference 2
NQ Brisbane GC Sydney Darwin Melbourne 2

Can you expand on this. What I am sort of understanding is that each week people place bids for a team (I guess by designing their uniforms and logos) then the winner of each makes the actual competition.

Can a person win more than one or if they win are they excluded from the rest of the bidding rounds? (can see the competition being made up of just one or two people).

The idea may have merit, but you need to really expand on it and flesh it out before I could even consider giving it a like.

Yeah mate that's fair, the idea is in it's infancy I will concede.

My idea was, as you said, each week there will be a bidding comp for a place in the overall comp. You are correct that that could result in two or three blokes could end up with all the teams in it, so maybe there would need to be a cap for entries.

Those successful bid teams would then play off within a knockout comp. Conference one one week, then conference two the following week. The three winners from each conference would then play the next week in another knock out, leaving three teams.

The final week would then be a three way poll to decide first, second and third place.

Does that clear up my thinking?
