    Now we come to the awarding this season's Pwned Trophy. This goes to the player who makes the opposition melt the hardest and the rest of us laugh our arses off. It is one of the club's highest honours, passed down through the generations of Wazzas in recognition of their services to lulz.

    Welp.

    Round 13 started with FootyGuy13 crying havoc and letting slip the opening posts of war, and at a reasonable time of the week. A hearty huzzah to you Sir! We were at home for the second week in a row, hosting the reigning premiers in the Ophidian Old Farts (I threw up in my mouth a little bit just typing that). It was a week where they were welcoming back their quarter-tonne captain after a dozen weeks of purgatory thanks to a few hare-brained indiscretions. So that meant that the OOFs were up and about, which led to a reasonably active week. Some of us cooked, some of us went on a road trip and some of us said "WTF is with all the camels?"

    And so to game day. In the past two weeks we've seen a 102 point win against one team and a ninth loss in eleven games against another team. Surely we'll see something other than an outlier this week right?

    Yeah nah.

    The team who have grown accustomed to being kissed on the peen by the sim in their 2.5 season history were surprisingly kissed on the peen by the sim. Piggy Smalls kicked our first goal with just under a minute to go in the second quarter. That's right we were scoreless for the first 49 minutes of the match, which would have been OK if the opposition also didn't score much. That they scored 13.4 in that time however was not OK.

    Could we stage a stunning comeback in the second half? Well we kicked three of the next four goals to reduce the margin to... uh... 63 points, before conceding six of the final eight goals of the match which mercifully was over. The damage? [counting fingers and toes] plenty.

    Remember the Gumbies? The team we beat by 102 points a fortnight earlier? Well they had the last laugh by winning and by extension re-overtaking us onto the top of the ladder. They had now guaranteed finals qooty, which we could do with at least one more win from our final two games of the home and away season. Win both though and we could go back to back in minor premierships. Who knows??

    In terms of individual highlights it was slim pickings from our end folks. TheInjuryFactory (23 disposals/2 tackles) had the most disposals, zackah (16 disposals/8 marks/2 tackles) had the most marks, pantskyle (15 disposals/9 hitouts/3 tackles) had to ruck against two people, Piggy Smalls was the only multiple goalkicker with two, and I continue to hug.

    Coney Island Warriors 8.4 (52) were defeated by Gold City Royals 7.15 (57)​

    Round 14 was Heritage Round, so there was plenty going on. League-wise, there was a series of qooty games played between rep teams from various SFA eras which a few of us were a part of that raised over $1300 for the Women's & Children's Hospital in Adelaide.

    Heritage Round also means another week with the Gold City Royals, which means a few things - a close qooty result, an amicable week, The Filth Wizard reminding his former teammates that the grass actually is greener, and a lesson from Professor Guts. And all boxes were suitably ticked.

    We then got to a rainy game day, the third in a row at home and the Van Cortlandt faithful were looking forward to seeing a victory after a couple of rough weeks. A second successive week of nil goals in the first quarter though saw some of the more fickle Warriors supporters make their way to the Dungeon Brewery at quarter time. Those that remained got to see a dour final three quarters where we held the lead for a little bit only to give it away again, and by the end of a soggy Sunday arvo we kicked more goals than the visitors but lost by 5 points.

    Even though we've lost three on the trot and the weather wasn't great, we've fallen over the line to officially make finals for the second season in a row with everything to play for this week against the Swamprats. We could finish as high as first or as low as eighth.

    FootyGuy13 was the best of us with a team high 25 disposals along with 7 marks, with CursingFijian (20 disposals/4 marks/2 tackles), The Filth Wizard (3 goals), Ocha905 (16 disposals/8 marks/1 goal), Mesc (15 disposals/3 marks/2 goals), zackah (13 disposals/4 tackles/1 goal), TheInjuryFactory (13 disposals/5 tackles/4 frees for) & Dinsdale (15 disposals/1 mark) all putting in decent shifts in what was a soggy scoresheet.

    Sin City Swamprats 11.7 (73) defeated Coney Island Warriors 7.12 (54)​

    It was a weird old week. The boffins at SFA house wedged two rounds into one to finish off the home and away season, however only the reigning OOFs actually played two games. The rest of us played one, and that was in the traditional Sunday Friday 3 afternoon time slot. We got our shovels and went underground to visit the Sin Citizens as we looked to not only snap a three game not winning streak as well as secure the double chance in the finals, but to also salute for toxic in his 150th game in persimmon, thus earning himself Life Membership at Coney Island.

    It actually turned out to be the quietest week of the season volume wise, with 17 of us turning up including Dinsdale while out riding his bike before it needed a new lithium powered heart. The hosts were led by their captain, their former captain, the 250-game having admin, the former admin, a Brian of Nazareth lookalike, and a meat shield. We collectively marvelled at Maxwell's challenging Wankhede double-ton. Pleasantries were pleasant, which was nice.

    You know what isn't nice though? Mud. Collectively we were playing for both the minor premiership and the double chance, and there were quite a few Wazzas looking to capture individual accolades, and we got simhoused mud. Still, our opponents were also simhoused mud and I'm sure a team named the Swamprats hate mud as much as we do right?

    Oh FFS sake.

    The past two weeks have seen us have awful first quarters, and when the hosts kicked the first goal of the match after 36 seconds it seemed like Punxsutawney philreich was about to foreshadow another six weeks of winter. But lo and behold we kicked not one first quarter goal but three straight to only trail by 13 points at the first break. But we were at least kicking straight.

    So we kicked two goals and six behinds in the second quarter, but managed to limit the Sinners to one goal to cut their lead at the half to a single point. We actually hit the lead for a while in the third quarter before a goal from Dear Leader saw the hosts three points up at the final change. The final quarter saw us add another one goal and four behinds while the Rats kicked four goals of their own to see them salute at the final siren by a game high 19 points. Our impersonation of the Optus network was as painful as it was comedic.

    Other results in the final round meant that pretty much anyone who could overtake us on the ladder overtook us, with the only exception being the Delons. And as a reward for their failings, they get to come and visit us next week in an elimination final.

    Muddy conditions usually means scarce stats, and round 16 was no exception. Ocha905 did well to have 17 disposals and 4 marks, TheInjuryFactory (15 disposals/3 tackles) lived under packs, pantskyle (13 disposals/12 hitouts) won the ruck contest, CursingFijian (12 disposals/7 marks/2 tackles) & Dinsdale (11 disposlas/4 marks) held up the backline, The Filth Wizard & Agent93 kicked two goals each while Reginald Perrin Freofalcon & ya boi kicked one each (I got some cuddles in), and poor old toxic was given one (1) handball by the sim. Happy birthday to him it seems.

    Coney Island Warriors 13.7 (85) were defeated by Mount Buller Demons 18.13 (121)​

    tautology /tɔːˈtɒlədʒi/ noun - the saying of the same thing twice over in different words, generally considered to be a fault of style (e.g. they arrived one after the other in succession).

    We discovered here that elimination final is an example of tautology in that being eliminated from season 36 is pretty f*cken final.

    Look it was an enjoyable enough week in the match thread, as math threads with the Deez usually are. In fact we had two match threads, the regular one and the extra 'Survivor' one. We came second there too.

    And so to game day. We got fine weather in the sim for the first time in weeks, but the first quarters remained the same. We've had some brutal first quarters in the past month, and when the visitors kicked 4 goals in the first 10 minutes the trend looked like continuing. Eight goals to one by quarter time and it was confirmed. We actually marginally outscored the Dees in the rest of the game but the balloon of enthusiasm was well and truly deflated by then, despite the visitors' claims of impending epic chokes. Six goals was the final margin, and the descent from first place to elimination was final.

    There were plenty of outstanding individual performances, led by the centreline of zackah (34 disposals/7 marks/5 tackles) Ocha905 (30 disposals/6 marks/3 tackles/1 goal) and FootyGuy13 (20 disposals/3 marks before being sent down back), the followers in pantskyle (26 disposals/19 hitouts/3 tackles/1 goal) & TheInjuryFactory (28 disposals/7 tackles) got plenty of it, The Filth Wizard bagged another Michelle while Piggy Smalls kicked two before swapping positions with spudmaster who kicked his first two goals of the season, and Dinsdale (14 disposals/8 marks) CursingFijian (16 disposals/6 marks/2 tackles) & Purple7x08_24 (8 disposals while holding Tarks to only 4 goals) held down the defence.

    When I first tallied up the votes and saw who won, and then got FootyGuy13 to double check the votes (thank you again Guy!!!), I was a bit embarrassed. Not sure if you've noticed but I'm not from the okeydoke school of self promotion so I tend to keep any individual accolades on the down low. I've forfeited awards that I've handed out in the past, particularly in the Free Kick thing I do, and was considering doing the same here. But then I thought it's not really me giving myself a Frankie if you've all voted on the result. And that makes it probably the best thing I've won this season, because it came from my teammates.

    Thank you all for not only throwing some votes at me, but for also being the best bloody teammates a Tongan could ask for. You are the reason I do all this crap on here, and although we preach our mantra of being here solely for each other's amusement the winners of this season's premiership proves that sometimes the sim does love an underdog. And in the sim's eye we're the greatest underdogs of them all. Here's to next season!!

    Here's how the final leaderboard panned out. TheInjuryFactory & The Filth Wizard ended up tied in second place on 28 votes, Ocha905 capped off a magnificent rookie season by coming fourth one vote behind them, with four time winner pantskyle rounding out the top five a further vote back. zackah returned to the club with a bang coming sixth, FootyGuy13 was seventh on 20 votes, the departing CursingFijian eighth after coming home with a wet sail, Dinsdale was ninth and Agent93 & Freofalcon tied in tenth place.
