Promising game.

Good marks, probably would have had more in dry weather.

Looks to attack with disposal. Once he finds his feet his around-the-ground work will be damaging.

Great leap and with experience against the best will learn the craft enough to win his share of taps.

Will a little more composure would have had a late goal.

Impressive game first up for us imo.

It was a pity he didn't get more of a run before it began to rain, don't think the wet would have suited him.

Yep he showed some good signs today, was very impressed with his body work in marking contests. In about the only time where he had a 1-on-1 contest, he easily outmarked his opponent. So perhaps he should be a forward option?

Not convinced that he’s a capable ruckman though.

I agree with drummond that he dosen't look like a "capable ruckmen" but it was his first game.

He looked good, he tried his best and got quite a few possesions, be intersting to see what he producers in the future.

Yep good first up game and does look promising but no way as a forward option, that shot he had from basically the goal square was a disgraceful effort.

Back up ruckman who can help out around the ground - he looked OK – forward option, no fing way.

I thought Brad was quite good in conditions that wouldn't have suited him..looks to have good skills and is far more agile and switched on than Griffen for mine, I'd play him for the rest of the year for sure on today's showing.

Was quite impressed by Brad's game today, took some great grabs and contested really well, not sure we should right him off as a ruckman just yet, managed 10 taps from little game time, something to work with.

I wouldn't mind seeing us use him as a CHF a bit more, won't kick heaps of goals, but I think he could provide a great contest around CHF, couple him with Tippet playing deeper and perhaps a Walker or Gill as a more mobile/roaming marking option could work alright. Something's gotta be done with that forward line and Jericho, Mcgregor, even Stevens arn't the answer.

Brad is worth persisting with, takes a good grab and moves well for a big man, however we need to be patient and keep playing him at the top level

Gee I thought he was shocking in the ruck.

But otherwise, wasn't toooo bad. Seemed to handle the pace and what not of the game reasonably well.

He played against experienced campaigners in the ruck.

Has the body. Has the leap. Most importantly, you can tell from his marking he is a good judge of the flight of the ball.

All he lacked against those blokes today was the experience.

All that and he still had the 10 taps in limited time AND looked good around the ground.

Of course for Drummond cos he's 21 and and only playing the game for about 3 years he should be like Cox, what a Cox!!

The guy with time and patience will be good, bloody quick, good at taking a mark and rucking is a LEARNT craft. Think of what Maric, Biglands, Hudson were doing at 21. Were they getting 10 hit outs and taking strong grabs int he AFL from limited game time! The guy will be good

Maric and Moran are only 9 months apart. Ivan was getting 10 hit outs and taking strong grabs from limited game time when he played last year.

Pretty happy with Moran's game today. I would like to see him handball it more from congestion. One thing I noticed is that he tends to try and manufacture a kick out of a pack situation just to hack it away.

Good use of the body when he had to and took a couple of strong marks - one at each end of the ground stand out in particular for me.

Agree - the thing that sets him apart from Tippet for me (I realise they are different Players but..) is he seems to understand football a bit better and has an idea how to position his body to give him the best chance to get the ball

however he could just be avoiding body contact so who knows.

actually his marking was bloody impressive

already better than Messen as well - so thats good

Looked Eons better than Meesen's did in his 2 games last year.

I would persist with Bob until the end of the year, has good skills around the ground.

He was alright, but you could tell his nerves were playing a part...

Made two made decisions in his shots at goal, which should improve with time and experience. The set shot, obviously should have run around, and the running shot on goal he had more time than he thought.

I agree he looks like he has potential - but the P word is becoming very frustrating.

I think potential seems to imply a long term project.

I actually think Moran could be a pretty handy player in the not so distant future. It'll be interesting to see how he goes next week, without the first game (for the club) jitters.

My thoughts exactly re being more agile and switched on than Griffin. One simple moment that stood out for mine was a quick thinking handball he made to the corridor side of the ground. Nothing special, but he had the awareness to ignore the player running past on the defensive side who was running into all sorts of trouble. Then there’s the great hands!!! So good given the conditions.

His ruckwork will suffice purely as backup, however I thought he spent too much time in there yesterday, particularly against quality experienced ruckmen. Would like to see a bit more of Tippett in the ruck with Maric resting and Moran up forward. He’ll obviously need to ruck at some stage and he’s serviceable, so no problems there. Hopefully he’ll improve in that department.

Sooooo many positives to his game when you put him next to Griffin. Got toe, can play anywhere on the ground and pretty good skills (great hands!!!) Missed a couple of shots on goal and you’d hope for some improvement there, but as a backup ruckman he’s a versatile package. More exposure to AFL will make him a good footballer, and future AFC Mr Fixit ala Scott Stevens (hopefully better).

FWIW, I really liked Griffin at the start of the season, thought his ruckwork was a feature of our winning ways earlier on. However, he doesn’t have the flexibility to play in a team with Tippett and Maric. Maric was brilliant in the way he went about his footy when left in the SANFL for the start of the season. He forced his selection, and has been sensational since breaking through.

I don’t know much about Griff’s performances since missing through injury and/or being dropped, but the numbers don’t look like those of a scorned AFL footballer hungry to claim the #1 ruck spot back.
