Because Victoria is a Covid invested swamp that can’t get their sh*t together.
There is bound to be more players test positive in the coming months as there are shop assistants and all types of folk spreading the virus around. Even the NSW Premier is now saying for her people not to travel to Melbourne unless it’s urgent. All of the other states are looking at keeping borders to Victoria closed. Just pause the season for 2 weeks and move everyone interstate
we had 7 cases yesterday from 6200 tests but don't let that get in the way of your media brainwashed hysteria

they didn't get infected though did they? So how did McKenna? What did he do? The magic virus floated down his chimney I suppose.

That's some interesting reasoning; do you think McKenna went out of his way to locate and spend time with someone who had the virus? Or do you think those two who breached the rules, had everyone they were meeting with tested to ensure they were breaching the rules in a safe manner? Or is it just... luck?

12 community transmissions in the last 24hrs which is a massive concern.
Your own Premier has even said that things are getting out of control and that lockdowns may be the answer

this is the type of response from a bloke who has posted on bigfooty 32,000 times. Sad and pathetic with ridiculous bias.
Sad and pathetic is having possibly the lowest post to reaction ratio I've seen on here, because it means no one gives a toss what you say.
Thanks for Pickett
Glad you're happy with his output... on the sidelines, suspended for breaking rules..

do you touch yourself to your 'post to reaction' ratio you loser. Get a life

yeah really disappointed with his 1 game career so far lol, you can have him for nothing if you want

huge clanger from your trade/recruitment department that one

Another stupid statement. The outcome of that trade isn't known yet. But given it's Melbourne who has had 1 decent year in the last 15, and s**t the bed last season in grand style, we like our chances.

WA Premier just announced phase 4 easing of restrictions in WA, including allowing Optus Oval to host 50% crowd. That means as of next weekend the AFL could have been playing games at the newest, safest major stadium in the country in front of 30 000 people (the specific number quoted by the Premier).

Melbourne reported them to the AFL for sanctions and dropped them.

Essendon named McKenna to play.

You do know the timeline right? McKenna was named to play Friday PM, he received an abnormal result from his Friday AM test on Saturday AM. Whereupon he was re-tested, then a positive test result given mid-afternoon Saturday.

So when they named him, the latest available information (received Friday AM) was a negative test result from Wednesday's test.

Tell your Premier to open the borders up

This has impacts, including draft order.
IMO Give North Melbourne pick 1, strip Essendon of their first and second round picks this season and next, and let Melbourne keep whatever pick they end up with instead of giving it to North.

It's the fairest solution.

From the sounds of things they named a player that had blatantly disregarded the warnings and advice from his club.

"Essendon and the AFL and the health department are currently working as we speak to see how many players will be quarantined alongside him.

"The details of his breach have been revealed, he has confirmed that he did attend an open house viewing, his lease was up for his house so he looked at another house.

"Then he effectively went to visit family and friends, the host parents who effectively bordered him when he came across from Ireland.

"He did that despite the explicit warnings that this was a COVID breach, despite the explicit warnings that Essendon had handed their players after Brandon Zerk-Thatcher was suspended for a COVID breach last week."

Is this information right or wrong?

The WA Hub was offered early in the piece before the season restarted, providing the Vics came here and did 14 day quarantine. The AFL refused, much to WA's disgust and the whinging Vics comment from the Premier. Had the offer been accepted and all Vic teams moved to hubs and hotels in safe states there would likely be no Covid issue at EFC now and we'd be playing in front of 30 000 crowds with all that money and jobs generated for each AFL club from next weekend.

Would have thought that guarantees a hub in Perth after this round of matches

Do you think our premier should? Put footy aside would you want people from Victoria travelling to Perth at the minute? I was leaning your way last week but now I am happy for our borders to be closed.
Hell no, not to Victoria.
The rest of us though that have done the right thing.
Im still disappointed WA and SA haven’t opened up.
