im just quoting what all the draft experts have said, sharp lacks the athletism to be a elite player (this doesn't mean he wont be a very good player.) there's reasons why people like cal have him at 6 even though he's been the best performed player this year.

The fact he will never jump like Naitanui or be able to power away from stoppage like Reid is negligible

His frame attitude and skill set fit our needs to a tee

A ultra consistent big bodied distributer with leadership qualities and capable of hitting the scoreboard, has been playing seniors for 3 years as mentioned

Complete no brainer at 1 or 2

If Simpkin was to come to us, he’d cost the Hawthorn R1 pick we hold (currently pick 15) at a minimum

He’s 27 (same age as Baker, Graham and Waterman) and contracted to 2029 at a value reportedly around $1.2-1.3m per year

Not the worst option and has been a solid contributor for North through a difficult period

I’m pretty ambivalent towards him as a trade target. Definitely helps our midfield but the cost is up there. If it was just the Hawthorn pick I’d probably be ok with it

Doubt that it’s a live option though

Would not waste a 1st on Simpkin, that pick and even 19 could land a Farrow or Rodreguez, some nice sliders around that pick and 19. Use those on the future.

And really a younger Dev would bring just as much as Simpkin for 20 cents in the draft dollar IMO.
