Pick upgrade always an option.

Collard was part of our NGA.

One of Essendons 2nds is about right.

Ryan plus 50 to Lions for Ah chee. We pay some 2026 salary.

Swap for Alex Davies at the Suns is close.

Carlton an option, pick upgrade with Dean bids threatening the compo pick for TDK.

And that isnt including future pick swaps or other players.
WTF! Ryan is a better player than Ah Chee and now we are giving up picks and paying salary? What world is this.

Depends entirely on what we are selling him for.

First Round picks will probably go up to pick 30 this year which also means second round picks don't commence until pick 31.

So exactly what type of pick package would you want for a contracted Liam Ryan in a shallow draft?

I'd take best offer, whatever that is.

For mine Liam is somewhat of a one trick pony in terms of the position he plays. He has one of the smallest "burst" windows in the team (but to be fair it does create great highlights). He is not a 4 qtr contributor, can go missing in games regularly.

I could give you t least 30 "smalls" that make a better contribution to their side on a week to week basis.

For mine we already have a strong Ryan replacement on the list in Hutchinson. His pre-WC life he was a small forward with solid overhead capability and scoreboard history. We have since tried to reverse engineer him into a mid and it isn't working. At least he will now have a tank to be a 4 qtr Ryan replacement.

We also have Champion, Brockman on the list with likely Walley and Williams to come in the draft.

He will hold back development and growth.

Hutchinson nothing like Ryan - in fact it could be argued he is the very opposite, only thing in common is they might play forward.

Ryan is a highly skilled, one touch, speedy burst player - Hutchinson is a fumbler, one pace player whose best attribute atm is his tackling.

PRE RE-MODELLING

Pick 3 – Jack Hutchinson (West Coast Eagles)
Jack Hutchinson, a high-flying forward originally from Wonthaggi in the Gippsland League, was selected by the West Coast Eagles with pick 3 in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft. After showcasing his aerial prowess and goal sense at Wonthaggi, Hutchinson transitioned to the VFL with Collingwood, where he continued to impress. His journey from local football to the AFL underscores the opportunities the mid-season draft provides for regional talents.

And

Draft bio: A high-flying country footballer for Wonthaggi in the Gippsland competition, Hutchinson was encouraged to have a crack at VFL by his coach and ex-Pie Jarryd Blair and he hasn’t looked back. In seven state league games, Hutchinson has booted an accurate 9.1 – including multiple goals in four of his first five matches - and shown clear AFL traits, with his powerful marking ability, speed and athleticism catching recruiters’ eyes.

And

It is clear to see why Hutchinson has quickly emerged as a leading mid-season draft candidate. He ticks the box athletically with his leap and power, while also covering the ground nicely and presenting as a viable marking target with terrific forward craft.

His upside is evident with highlight reel marks and goals, and it seems like he has only really scratched the surface of his potential having only just entered the state league system. He should appeal to many clubs on pure talent, and specifically to those looking for another marking target to chop-out for their talls.

Imagine being that incompetent you take a bloke with all that forward potential and turn him into a fumbler, one pace player whose best attribute atm is his tackling.

Rueben Ginbey was a gun junior defender. He was drafted and remodelled as an average mid. How circumstantial that when given a move to his previous preferred role that he thrives?!?!?!?

What if we're not going to get band 1 for Allen, so the club is negotiating a trade for Starcevich and Ah Chee? That would melt this board more than pick 3 for Baker.

It wouldn't surprise me. Throw in Ryan to Brisbane as well.

Fumbles sure, but once paced ? What are you watching ?

He looked disinterested for too many games . Trade him out if someone wants him because I would have him playing wafl

Ah Chee would be a good get, silly to suggest otherwise.

Would add experience in a key age demographic and class forward or back.

Ryan will stay I think - just seems like a classic Colin Young ploy to lock in that extension he'll be chasing. Expect him to extend for 2-3 years once Harley and Oscar are sorted. For better or worse. 2 years beyond '26 takes him to 32 - that would about do it.

I'd say they are similar and Ah Chee is two years younger.

Maybe it's a straight swap.

Not a bad exchange IMO as Lions get a premiership small forward who could help them win another flag..

Eagles get a quality medium premiership forward two years younger. Good Cripps and Owies replacement.

Ah Chee gets his well earned pay rise and should still be able to contribute when we contend finals again.
