On a day of what ifs….

Some here would still think going to to draft would’ve been better then getting Chad with pick 1 if he elected to come home.

The Swans would’ve almost certainly went CDT at this stage.

Pick 1 and F2 for the Chad. Our F2 looks likely to be swallowed up for Kehn or McGlade

Swans- CDT
Eagles- Duursma
Tigers- Lindsay
Tigers- Grij or NHH?
Eagles- Sharp
(Richmond I don’t go Sharp due to being similar to Smillie.)

A midfield of Warner, Hewett, Harley, Sharp, Hough, Phillips* and Yeo next year wouldve/could’ve been very nice. With Will Duursma bulking up off the hbf for a couple of years

The great what if.
Ecstatic Chas has taken that decision off us. Saved us from ourselves.

No thanks Jeff. Free as a RFA or not interested. Selling the farm doesn't work, just ask Tim Kelly.

Who's the most likely to get delisted this year? We need to cut more than what is allowed. My opinion:
Callum Jameison: 5 Years on a list. That is all.
Jayden Hunt: Just a seasoned body, always looks weak and panic merchant. Tries hard, but so did Langdon/Witherden
Jack Petrucelle: Fallen out of favour, was always a heigh ceiling/raw pick when he was draft, never got near his athletic potential. Times up
Dom Sheed: He'll probably retire, game's gone past him
Lochlan Rawilson: Not up to the next level, simple.

It’s not selling the farm.

It’s a pick which we could only hope would get to Chads level. F2 will likely only be used to match Kehn or McGlade as this stage. So really it’s 2 players in (one via the draft) and another 24yo jet for ‘2 picks out’

This wouldn’t be a Kelly situation due to where our picks land and our future pick are projected to lands.

Yep all of those are 99% gone.

Oscar likely gone.

Need probably 3 more minimum

we have 2 MSD extra players so going to have to delist/retire/trade 2 more than we draft and trade.
If we draft 3 and 3 NGA/FS players we are going to need to move 8 players minimum off the list.
Jamieson: delist
Rawlinson: delist
Barnett: delist
Sheed: retire
Cripps: retire
Hunt: retire
Petch: trade/delist

Only leaves 1 list spot for the following:
Livingstone: who deserves another year to develop
Bazzo: deserves another year to develop
Chesser: fighting for a spot with Bazzo imo
Newton: hasn't played so we don't know/if he doesn't show enough there are 2 spots for the above.

Livingstone is Cat B so doesn’t free up a spot unless one of the NGAs gets through and we are happy to take that risk.

We are likely to bring in players via trade imo. Understand you haven’t included Gov and likely Oscar as outs so that might cover that.

Long and HJ may have fallen back to no call yet for mine. 2026 is shaping as a massive year for them both.

Haven't included them as yet because if Oscar leaves we draft another in his spot.
If Gov retires which is increasingly likely, WC will trade in a ready made KPD imo, so hat just cancels that out.

Great work and breakdown, pretty well spot on imo.
Somewhere between 20-23 AFL quality players amongst this crew.
2025-26 draft another 10-12 and then start sorting the good from the not so good and we have the core of a decent team.
Add some quality trades to this and we are going to have a decent top 25 and some depth.

Haven't included them as yet because if Oscar leaves we draft another in his spot.
If Gov retires which is increasingly likely, WC will trade in a ready made KPD imo, so hat just cancels that out.
I doubt we take 4 picks before our NGA/FS as it stands. Walley, Evans and maybe even Banfield will be in the range of our own 2nd round pick and maybe the Hawks pick.

Only gripe Is you have Baker as a likely failure. He has been delisted.

Barnett too. Shows nothing

Think today's game against Norf proved definitively that we need an inside mid beast as the #1 item on our shopping list.

  • Killed them in tackles
  • Killed them in possessions
  • Killed them in scoring shots
  • Lost comfortably in the clearance

The fact that they were able to stay in the game as long as they did, and win no less, is at least in part because we still cant dominate clearances. We're reactive and playing off the back foot any time the ump takes the ball.
That plus the game should have been over at half time

Yep, just goes to show how things change when you get older.

Another one who couldn't wait to get away from Beveridge though.

Chad Wingard was another one

Didn't want to leave SA so manipulated his way to the Power, then ends his career in Victoria

I doubt we take 4 picks before our NGA/FS as it stands. Walley, Evans and maybe even Banfield will be in the range of our own 2nd round pick and maybe the Hawks pick.
I think we are drafting 3 plus our NGA/FS prospects.
If Oscar goes we have another high pick.
The most likely possibility is if WC feel the quality is there we trade up with our 2nd round added to the Hawks for a top 5-6 or use some future picks.
