Provisional 2025 Draft order

Really hope the rumoured Cameron trade doesn't happen, especially for Hawthorn's first.

If we trade Barrass for draft capital for the rebuild, sit on it for a year then waste it on a player older and arguably inferior in Cameron it would be a huge waste of good draft picks.

Assistance package or pass please.

I am actually looking forward to our draft and trade period.

2024 proved 1 thing, with all the changes in recruiters, list manager, CEO and footy manager(Woosha) that we are in a different era, there was heaps going on behind the scenes regarding potential trades, we ended up with a good amount of AFL quality draftees.
I think 2025 is heading in a similar vein to 2024, 6-7 draftees with 3 1st round picks as a minimum, some 3-4 NGA/FS prospects that have some decent gems in their imo.

We will never know the full extent of what happens behind the scenes on trades but the fat we are linked to several like D Cameron, McVee, Erasmus, Phillips, possibly Davies and several others we don't know but whispers filtering that we are exploring several options is a breath of fresh air and as stated by Pyke & McQualter, we want to get better fast.

There are probably 10 players on our list that are not AFL quality or depth at best, arguably a couple more.

Getting access to the top end of the draft with our finishing position and OA getting pick 2 is a good list management decision for our future.
Hope we land 3-4 trades of the highest quality we can and 3 top end talents in the draft.

100% this.. especially
Players who no one else will have any interest in like Cripps.. he is not owed anything by the footy club at this time

Likely because the club knows more about who is leaving and who is interested in coming.

If the club has a deal done with Liam Ryan then Cripps and Kelly staying on makes more sense.

Just lost Gov a year early.

Likely lose Allen which wasnt in our long term list planning.

Sheed retiring early but not unexpected.

Petro is gone. Hunt likely gone. Cole?

One of Bailey or Jack Williams likely gone.

We have very few mature players.

I hate the idea of trading Hawks first for Cameron. It’s a quick fix that’s not going to fix anything long term & the price is just ridiculous. If he was 25 and hitting his prime then yes I’d do it.

I’d rather package Hawks 1st & our end of 1st & try and move higher up the draft order.

Sorry, when did we get an end of 1st round pick?

Bombers have 47 on there list. Needs to trim to 42. They have 4-5 draft selections before any free agency compo.
9-10 to delist.

Uncontracted

Prior
Setterfield
Hobbs
Lual
Visentini

I imagine visentini stays BC they'll lose draper.

Lual could be a good steal. Draft watchers in 2023 would have a better idea.

Setterfield would be the only one there I'd throw a contract at, but would imagine they'd re-sign him on good money.

Port, Melbourne, Carlton and North can all generate capital through trades. I'm not sure what Collingwood has to offer that they can afford to part with.
The Pies may not be able to afford to lose anything, but the likes of Cameron, Hill, McCreery, Elliot and Mihocek(that i can remember off the top of my head) have all had rumours/reports theyre not happy and may look at other clubs.

That would kill them in the short term but it would generate decent draft capital

Prior has had a pretty good year as a back man… 82% kicking efficiency and one we should have got last year… would be an upgrade on what we have

Id be content if we go into next season with Flynn leading the ruck again.
Yes it sucks, but I believe he has improvement left in him. Provided we add another young ruckman of some sort(or commit to Archer as a future ruckman) im ok with it. The cheap ruckmen floating around wouldnt be noticably any better than Flynn anyway, so saving the draft capital would be fine.

If the Bombers are delisting or moving on any of Setterfield/Hobbs/Tsatas id be pretty keen. One of Hobbs/Tsatas/Erasmus/Phillips/etc plus one older mid to provide more stability and leadership would be ideal imo.

Wonder if one of BW or JWilliams for Phillips with later picks moving around would work?

I mean, we could bid on Annable, but it's unlikely he'll be swimming with us next season.
If there was no academy restrictions i would take anabelle over both duursma and sharpe . Also patterson top 5 .

Just on duursma essendon are very keen on him and would need pick 1 they are also keen on prying his brother out of norf who isn't very happy there apparently.

If we could somehow work out a trade where essendon get both duursma's

Wce out pick 1
for pick 5 + 24 + 28

Ess out pick 5 + 8 + 24 + 28
For 1 + 38 + Zduursma

Nth out Zduursma + 38
For pick 8

We then package up our 2nd and hawks 2nd which would be pick 21 and 30 with 24 + 28 + Ryan(salary included) and no bids patterson Undwin
To GC for pick 9 + 15

2 sharpe
4 Cumming
9 farrow
13 Rodriguez
15 Curtin

Maybe not Curtin at 15 but I like it.
Perhaps Marsh at 9? then the WA boys Rodriguez and Farrow at 13 and 15
