2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

In all honesty I don't know why we have a recruitment 'team'.

All we need is Matty Clarke and all he needs is access to our Bigfooty recruitment team think tank that is likely just as qualified as the rest of the Eagles jobs for mates recruitment team to spitball ideas.

During draft and trade period events he can just reward a few of the best posters on here to join him in person.
Well put it this way. Up until recently, our ability to select even an average midfielder, outside of gaff or sheed, is that baren, that the club would have had a better result plucking names from a hat.

Ok anyone who mentions cripps to rookie list will be themselves be placed on the rookie list
Was such an obvious move to make especially given the extra four rookie spots. Now we’re further limited in the draft ffs

Well the Carlton team mannger said the selectors left him out over night but nobody collected him.
They probably got their days mixed up

We need to avoid those with injury niggles (tbf to Mitchell he had 1 major injury rather than niggles). Senior players who are actually playing is key for us in the next 3 years.

Ideally some super hard workers who are 20-24 and have had some bad luck (an injury, positional challenges where senior players keep them out of the side, being generally played out of position). But aside from that 30-32yo’s with hopefully 2 years on the clock will work.

As much as we lack 24-28yo’s, I don’t think shopping for DFA’s in that age range is wise. There isn’t generally the improvement that is hoped, and the upside is much lower than younger guys (and obviously they don’t have the runs on the board of the older guys).
Wouldn't former 1st rounder Ben Hobbs be worth a shot, hard at it inside mid/extractor that the Bombers have played at half forward this season strangely. Haven't you guys been given a concession of being allowed 4 extra rookies on the list? What's to lose?

Notorious plodder Ben Hobbs? There’s about 10 other blokes I’d be getting in first

We're already adding Dev Robertson and, reportedly, Finn McRae, as well as looking at Will Phillips.

Don't need another of the same type. Would rather take a punt on a ruckman.

Thought it was a given months ago that Cripps has re-signed, announcement from the club or not.

Whoever we pick has to be the best player available to us at that point of the draft, regardless whether they are NGA or F/S.
It's not about that lol, we only 5 free spots instead of the 6 required to match 3 bids.
Why not just be prepared rather than leaving it to chance?
Just delist someone like Owies for God's sake.

How do payouts work with delisting someone who's contracted then picking them back up? Do we have to pay them their full contract value, then pay them again for the contract they get rookied with? If we delist someone in contract and they get picked up by another team, do we still have to pay them out?
