If we draft trade in Dev, Steele, and draft a couple of gun young mids, what’s the odds of seeing Tim Kelly lining up in the centre square for the opening bounce of the 2026 season?

Liam Ryan wants to move for family reasons he said , so i believe that but should get more then a future 3rd pick .
Cripes charity that is for Stk .
All should be sorted soon enough this week , even next few days hopefully.

Still pretty decent imo. Pre season will tell the story but form late was decent.

Very different to either of those and not sure any mid that is drafted besides Sharp would get big numbers in the middle at the start of the season.

If Saints want to chase a 28 year old in contract All australian, but then only offer an F3 then it's opporent and we just say no - it is that simple. I dont care if Liam comes back and doesnt maximise his ability, accepting that trade would be embarassing and continue the horrible precedent of us being bent over at the trade table.

Contracted and with the contract they are rumoured to be offering it is worth more then the F3.

Abhorrent?

Haven’t seen that reported anywhere and not aware he’s got any family in Melbourne.

He’s apparently close with Brad Hill and some other Saints players but that hardly qualifies as family reasons.

Even without steele, Tk could find himself at wafl level if a few of the kids start to improve a bit.

Tk pulled his finger out late in the seasons so hopefully the idea of being relegated to the two’s might give him enough motivation to perform again

Trade in Steele for Ryan + Chesser pick.

Trade up to get Fold Coasts pick 7

3 picks in the top 10 and we don't split anything...

Was a tweet yesterday from one of the myriad of vanilla-faced pencil-necked poindexter AFL "journos" on X.

I saw one talking about pick swaps but didn't see anything specifically talking about Ryan for an F3

Thats crazy. Just keep him disgruntled if thats the offer. Won't believe it till it happens

He’s a true clubman so it wouldn’t happen unless he’s told to explore, but Touk Miller would fit the mould of Steele/Neale we are after. Was pushed out of the main mid rotations but still surprisingly won the BnF (make of that what you will as the Brownlow medallist finished 7th). He’s 30 by next season so if it came down to a squeeze they would sooner see him go than Humphrey but he would want to hang around for some success given he has been there through the low times.

Still holding out hope that Walter and/or Davies could be enticed but no word other than us hopeful fans. They must have no faith in King staying beyond next year since going after Curnow and now JUH with Walter already in the magoos.

Why are we adding a pick for a washed limited midfielder whose club wants rid of?

Because despite all of that Steele would instantly still come in and be our best midfielder?

I'm expecting the Chesser pick to be some throwaway trash in the 40's so happy to just pony that up given we'll have little use for it anyway.

Coin toss really. I'd argue Steele is worth more than Ryan, given he was his clubs captain until 5 mins ago..... however Ryan is contracted so... 🤷🏽

2025-2026 Jack Steele is not better than Harley Reid, he’s not even better than a half fit Elliot Yeo.

I don’t blame any of you for barely watching Saints games, but trust me he’s absolutely useless for the majority of games, he’s reactionary not proactive, he’s slow, he can’t kick, he doesn’t hurt you, he’s useless outside of stoppages and not even very impactful in them.

His own club has stripped him off the captaincy and is forcing him out just as they finally look like fielding a competitive team.

Rowell won the b&f
Miller 3rd

He's not leaving

It's probably correct that Harley is better and Yeo was better in 2024. I think this review is a bit harsh though. He would add positive leadership that was seriously lacking in the midfield last year (Maybe less of an issue if Yeo is back and playing well in the mid). Steele also does lots of the important inside stuff that doesnt get flashy highlight reels. He's not his best anymore but he'd be in our best 23 at worst he's better than Kelly in the midfield.

I don’t think there’s any world where the bombers part with 5&6 for 2 regardless of what we tack on the end of it. We’ve seen what splits of pick 2 & 3 have netted us in the past and it’s been nowhere close to 5&6. People hoping for that are going to be disappointed imo.
Yeah but that's 1 pick on its own for 2

2 + 16 for 5 + 6 allows essendon the best player of the open draft after duursma.

So CDT or Robey then have 16 for simpkin north wanting a first rounder .

16 allows them to get simpkin without having to rely on hawks pick 10 merret trade .
