Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)

I'm happy with that trade. We clearly have three objectives this trade/draft period:
-we are taking three live selections in the draft and we want all three to be top 10 selections.
-nail our trade targets in Starc, Young and Dev.
-have enough points to match bids on Banfield, Williams and Evans

I don't give a shit about picks beyond the late teens in a shallow draft. Trade them as needed to get three top 10 selections and enough points to bid match.

Rodreguez and Curtin in that zone you dont rate.

And some other interesting types like the 2nd and 3rd best tall forwards and defenders.

Sorry but much as I want Macarthy on the ball, in the forward line and the backline he needs to stay at halfback.
Ginbey,Hough and Baker are not the best kicks. Starcevich is ok,Hed is ok and Young I’m not sure.
Games are won and lost from HB.Look how much better we looked when he started streaming out of defence.
Dursma will start in defence if we take him.He had a great burst of speed.
Bo Allan?
Whichever way you look at it our defence looks very good.
After Young came back from his knee injury, he surprised Tigers fans by adding an attacking game and was kicking beautifully by their reports.

In one of his interviews yesterday Clarke mentioned player managers putting players forward to the club to consider for those extra rookie list spots.

Robertson is going to fill one of them as we and he have committed to each other already

The other spot(s) to be filled will be sorting through a bunch of players to find the best fit - add Schoenberg to the pile with Berry, Macrae and possibly Swallow it seems plus any number of possibilities

The good thing is we’re casting a wide net for options that cost us zero in a trade but will build AFL experienced depth and also give our WAFL side the mature help it so desperately needs

Assuming we take Duursma, Cumming and Sharp and land our mooted targets it’s actually a pretty strong Beagles side. Yes Archer at CHB.

FB Ginbey Edwards Baker
HB Hough AReid Starcevich
C McCarthy Reid Duursma
HF Hewett Shanahan Sharp
FF Brockman Waterman Newton
R BWilliams Kelly Yeo
I Graham Maric Cumming Robertson JWilliams
E Hall Allan Gross

FB: Bazzo Brock Cole
HB: Grego Young Duggan
C: Banfield Hall Allan
HF: Long Hutchinson Davis
FF: Champion Livingstone Owies
R: Flynn Swallow Gross
IC: Johnston Evans TWilliams Walley

Encouraging a teenaged kid to go to a footy combine that he was invited to is woke? 😂😂😂🥴🥴🥴
Worrying about the AFL telling us off for draft tampering by telling one of our NGA's to find a reason not to go to the combine so will be able to take him without worrying about other clubs bidding on him is weak. And that is obviously what has hapenned.

Do you understand that if another club bids on him in the top 40 of the draft then we don't get him? All the time and money and investment we have put in over however many years goes down the drain?

What should be more important to us as a club - getting a return on our investment or hoping the kid has a good time at the combine?

We could of used the picks to trade up to 6. We are no chance now
Not many teams are going to be interested in any picks after the 30's this year. And we still can get pick 6 easily enough or one or 2 of ESS picks by splitting 1 or 2, using 12 and/or using future picks if we want. Our F2 is pretty valuable next year assuming we dont progress up the ladder. Even our F3 wouldnt be bad next year.

Looking forward to seeing Ginbey becoming more of an attacking threat. his kicking is not Mccarthy level but if Mccarthy goes into a wing/mid, Ginbey is a great replacement. Hopefully Hough can find some touch in defence again but a part of me feel like they’ll spend the summer developing him as a mid.

He has a point now we will have to match a much earlier bid than before the combine
There is no point. There is no guarantee or contract that he gets drafted to the Eagles so why would he jeopardise his overall chances of getting drafted. Even if the club verbally said we want you, you aren’t taking that risk.

We will give up pick 32.... You are kidding if you think Clarke wont do it

Nervous because it's Richmond he's dealing with again.

Surely we'd be due for some goodwill for helping to load their draft hand last year?!

I'm not confident but let's see how it plays out.

1 is a live option for me for a trade for something like 5, 21, 30.

Good point imo. I was thinking that putting Starcevich in the backline and pushing out McCarthy means a big loss in run and carry off half back.

Why does everything have to be thought of in such a selfish manner? This is a teenage kid hoping to do whatever he can to jumpstart a potential dream career in the AFL, and we're saying he should arrogantly play silly games to help West Coast out?

Like who the **** do we think we are?
We are the club that finished dead last with 1 win . We need every edge we can get .
