Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)

Not sure both will be there though.

If i was to guess Demons would take Robey at 2.

Tigers then probably just take Grlj and trade 4 to Blues who would take CDT.

There's every chance Bombers take Schubert and one of Sharp or Cumming to pair the SA kids. They may take Taylor but i think they would see the benefit as we do in adding a couple of team mates.
I was thinking of Essendon for that trade. 2,13 for 5,6. Not sure I’d do 2 for 7,8 with the Dees unless we knew they were there

I'd be waiting to see what Melbourne/GC do today. If GC give up 7+8, their points situation becomes fairly dicey. Patterson then becomes a live option, and I'd be seriously considering keeping pick 2 and trying to pair him with Duursma.

I can see the dash, flair and bit of mongrel of Patterson being something Mini would love to bring into our gamestyle. Very good player for the modern game with a high ceiling, and probably something we don't have off halfback as yet (half back with midfield potential??)

Duursma + Patterson + slider to 13 or Duursma + Sharp + Cumming (pending a 2+13 for 5+6 trade).... both sound good!
Any pick splitting should definitely be happening after we know the GC points situation.

Only been following glimpses of trade period but are we pretty much done with what moves we’ll make in this one? Don’t mind what’s unfolded but is that is pretty much done now until the draft?

Apart from pick swaps yep....we're done.

And we have two more opportunities to trade picks after trade period finishes.

Unless there's a curve ball, yeah.

Appreciate it - looks like there is a few big dogs still on the table including the usual Demons suspects. Hopefully some stuff outside of us still to go down to make for an interesting end to it

Surely Gold Coast will just match any early bid and go into deficit next year if needed. They will be backing themselves to be top 4 so if their first rounder slides back abit they wont mind. Or they will just trade a future pick into this draft and use that to match. The thought of us getting Patterson is just pie in the sky stuff IMO.

Anything is possible but a few things to consider.

By finishing top 4 they will have 3 double ups against Lions, Cats, Pies, & Gold Coast.

If they do not get Merrett then lose Jiath as well as Worpel then their list is weaker than last year.

Where as

Crows add Ah Chee

Brisbane add Allen & Draper (lose Starcevich & Ah Chee)

Fremantle add McVee

Geelong add Worpel

Gold Coast add Petracca & JUH (lose Flanders, Ainsworth & Buderick)

GWS add Oliver

Swans add Curnow (lose Florent & Hayward)

Saints add TDK, Silvagni, Flanders, Ryan

The only teams in the top 12 that didn't improve their lists are Collingwood (3rd) Dogs (9th) Carlton (11th)

Injuries will always play a big part but i'd have to think the Hawks would be worried how many team around them have improved their 2026 squad
TBF, they weren't far off last year.
Both Worpel and Jiath don't really move the needle.

Day standing up is the big one.

Because of our general dislike for Hawthorn, I think it colours our opinion of how good they are.
Two years ago, nearly made a prelim.
Last year a prelim.

Thy might not make the 4 (I think they will) but there's no way I can see them missing the 8.

Although I agree, I present to you the 2013 Eagles. Who had more talent on the list than this Hawks unit...

Happy Dyson Sharp day today!!! In about 7 hours we will see if we hold pick 2 in which case I'm convinced. Welcome Dyson you were always the one

People joke about trading 2 on the day LOL. Sure sure. Pie in the sky stuff.

People need to learn to connect the dots
The reality is we don’t necessarily need 2 to take Sharp. If there’s a deal to be had I hope we take it. Other clubs seem to want Robey, which is great because his profile isn’t one I think we need.

The points deficit a club can carry over is only 1167 points.

If we bid on their players at 1 & 2, they need to stump up 3367 points this year to match with 1167 carried over.

Not sure how they manage that if their top 10 picks are traded out.

There is a limit to the amount of deficit they can go into though. If they get behind that number, then they will have real problems as other clubs look at their future picks and go "fire sale" looking at their F1/FF1 for bargains.

Sharp at pick 2 is too big a risk. Good as he is in his position, his lack of athleticism makes it that much harder to translate it to AFL level.

Need to remember the guys in the AFL are the best of the best across probably 10-12 drafts. That's who he'll be going up against.

I'd be pretty disappointed if at pick 2 he only ever becomes a role player.

Sharp's the best inside mid available in this draft, something we sorely lack. He's a bull who will dive into the bottom of a scrum and emerge with the footy.

Priddis had f*ck-all athleticism and did the same thing.

By getting picks back...
From where are they getting these picks?

Take out their top 10 picks supposedly getting traded and they only have 2400 points. They need pick 15 back to cover the points. Then consider list spots needed to hold a bunch of late picks (currently holding 5 point carrying picks, exc. 7&8).

And that's before their existing picks get discounted because of our bids.

It's gonna be tough.
