Round 1: 1, 2, 13

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)

St Kilda have also been highly graded despite reneging (yes Ross you did reneg) on a deal they’d agreed in principle with Leek Aleer

Trying to justify it by saying GWS gave him a contract so he still as a spot is horseshit. Two years on $500k at best is a long way removed from ~$3m over 4 years the Saints offered him

I can’t believe how little blowback they’re getting in the media for what was a really shitty thing to do

It’ll bite when they go for their next recruitment drive and the managers push back.

Media might forgive - player managers will not

Eagles academies insta just posted our NGAs/FS that got selected for WA Summer Squad

Garrison Kenh
Lachlan McGlade
Robert Farmer
Harper Banfield
Elijah Williams
Cody Lee
Jamayson Ketchup
Kyan Perera

Not sure which ones are 2026 or 2027 eligible
So we have 8 NGA/FS prospects in the Boys Summer Squad and another 2 injured and not included??
That's a serious group to get some prospects from.

I’ve got no issue letting Ah Chee go if they deem him too expensive or counterintuitive to a rebuilding side on inflated $$.

Not if they’re just trying to be polite choirboy cucks.

It does sound like they looked at pursuing him at the end of the season, decided he wouldn’t fit the system, and they’re not going to flip on that and now go after him just because he’s available.

I’m happier with that than if they’d said that they didn’t want to step on Adelaide’s toes or something.

Although I think he would add to our list, especially with Ryan leaving.

Exactly the comment you want to hear from your list manager so you know they are assessing all avenues to improve the list.

Meanwhile we get flaccid Clarke telling us Ah Chee isn't a list need for the worst side of all time.
how many 26-28 year olds do you want club to bring in and play? he aint 23.

we initially feared that club would do this, brining in older players . or keep older players too long and now we are calling for it back again? at end of the day, there are young kids that need games, whether you think they are good enough or not. if we aren't winning games, you can bet people will ask why we brought in ah Chee and not just play a kid.

can't have it both ways.

beside the fact HE doesn't want to come here.

In his interview with Twomey and Beveridge this morning he said something along the lines of Ah Chee wants to go to Adelaide and he understands his reasons.

So sounds like it’s a preference for the city of Adelaide as much as anything else and we’re happy to stay out of it

I like Ah Chee as a player and was as excited as the next person when the trade fell over thinking we’d be a chance to get him in the PSD but there’s clearly reasons why we won’t pursue it that aren’t because Clarke is soft/too scared

So let me get this straight..

If this imaginary 5 year deal figure everyone is attaching to Ah Chee is "silly and irresponsible" for West Coast to pay for, with it's oodles of salary cap space and no talent to spend it on..

And yet completely normal and reasonable for the Crows, an actual functioning AFL team that isn't a basket case to pay for... Is that correct?

I get Clarke may have had discussions and put a line through Ah Chee earlier in the the year, I get he wasn't realistically in their sights and they've moved on.. But guess what, things change.

He now comes FREE compared to having to pony up picks to get him here initially under earlier discussions. He's a best 22 player you're leaving on the shelf because what... You haven't planned for it? Well be fluid, be flexible, get planning.

What exactly is the downside here? "Omg Ah Chee could leave or request a trade in a year.." So? It's not like we coughed up anything for him. So he leaves and we're in the exact same situation as we're in right now. Big whoop.

If Ah Chee is that stubborn about getting to Adelaide he shouldn't have let himself come out of contract where he's forced to enter the PSD in a NATIONAL competition. Sorry cob, that's draft tampering. There's 18 teams that can use the PSD, it's not just for your destination club to nominate.

He also acknowledged there will be some conversations about it and that there had already been some.

Agree, following your list strategy and respecting a players wish to not move to your club =/= soft/weak.

I really like that we clearly have a list plan and are being v intentional with who/when/what roles we are bringing in. Ah Chee's an automatic B22 inclusion, but not sure he really moves the needle for us - those 5yrs @ $800k per year are likely better spent elsewhere.

I find it hard to believe that you're not acutely aware of the myriad of differences in the situations both teams find themselves in, and how those situations may influence their respective recruitment strategies.

where's your sauce for this list. Surely didn't come from Ketchup.

I think it's less about whether he's worth that contract fullstop and moreso whether that contract is worth it for WCE, in our current position.

Not too dissimilar to it being too risky for us to match OA's contract offer, whereas Brisbane are in a position that they can absorb the risk/reward.

Ah Chee is a v good player, and the perfect type for a team in their window such as Adelaide. They're a good enough team right now that the opportunity to have him help them win a flag outweighs the risk of bringing in a 29yo on a 5yr deal or whatever.
