Since Lions need points, how would we feel about trading our pick 20 and 26 for their first round pick? Is there another club we could do this with?

I'm not worried about Brander. We got it wrong. Every club gets a few wrong. For me it's the opportunity cost. It's far easier to find elite KPDs in the second round than it is elite mids. Bazzo looks really good and was pick 37. We just don't need to pay better than pick 30 to find 2x elite KPDs, so why do it?
That's kind of what I was getting at, I agree I wouldn't bother using a high pick on a KPD. Bazzo, Barrass, McGovern (and even Edwards - I still think he comes good) were all picked late. I'd question the need to even worry about picking a KPD in the main draft this year considering who we've already got on the list. Maybe a long term prospect in the rookie draft?

How about the best player at our 1st just might not be an inside contested mid.

There are some very one dimensional thinkers posting on here. Target focused on one type of player only.

To the point where they dont even consider we have two 2nd round picks to use and we just drafted a 193 cm inside mid who looks pretty decent.

Would you be upset if we drafted Sheezel?
Yeah I'd go cheezels if he's there with our 1st and if not available I'd go the Poo

If we are going a KPP I'd rather go a forward.
Or just keep dixon on the list for another year and go for a big forward next year
Personally the only tall I'd draft this year is a ruck

If we were inclined to trade our two second rounds for Brisbane's current pick 16 I wonder if there would be some value in exchanging our pick 2 for two mid round 1 picks (i.e. pick 2 exchange for picks 7 & 10/11). Obviously no team is in a position to offer this currently, but there will likely be one or two clubs who might be in a position post-trade week. This could see us net something like a Hewett and Mackenzie combination for our first two selections with our third selection being pick 16. Would this be a better option than just Sheezel/Phillipou/Wardlaw who we could pick us at selection 2 but will all be gone by pick 7?

Weckert could be an interesting rookie option, medium forward future lecras/cripps kind of player, kicked 8 in sanfl ressies debut

Not eligible until next years draft. Less than 4 weeks older than Phillipou as an example though so it just shows how young Phillipou is in regards to this years draft group.

If we were wanting to trade down I’d be more inclined to offer Adelaide pick 2 to secure phillipou in exchange for their pick 4 and their first next year and send back one of our seconds.

Early reports suggest next years draft is stronger and it’d leave us in a likely position of having two top ten picks in a strong draft whilst still securing one of wardlaw/McKenzie this year.

I’d also be getting hewett to play the homesick card well and hard. I don’t care if he falls to fremantle but let’s have some top end WA talent unavailable to Victoria for a change.

Make one "what" appear? An elite mid?

How do you know there isn't one in there? There probably is one or two in there, we just don't know who.

Most drafts elite mids have shown enough to be confident you know what you are getting.

To date this doesnt look like one of them. So the probability you will land one is lower than average.

Thats what he's saying and I agree. We dont want to 'reach' with pick 1 or 2 and end up with a ok player.

Peoples thoughts on Oli Hotton? His name caught my eye is a Fox article. Vic kid described as "one of the best and cleanest stoppage players seen at school level". Could be there around our 2nd picks possibly. Played a ripper in the wet. He isnt a monster but he sounds like a real goer.
