We dont need any more KPD now Brander is moving back there.
Matthew Parker would be sweet if we could convince him to come over. I don't imagine we would have to give up a lot in a trade.
That's true but Brander's a forward I believe anyway ....Ben Miller has the most upside of the five options though .

Been watching a bit of him, very good around stoppages and by hand. Kicking looks poor at times.

Nothing has changed in the AFL in the last 30 years. There's players that get the ball and set things up for the next bloke with a weighted kick, versus the player who hacks forward with no vision but gets the meters gained stats. In West Coast terms it's the Kemp vs Mainwaring. Class vs gut.
Richmond found the balance. They developed or recruited the class who create and finish and have developed or found the gut players who run chase and tackle to compliment the talent. It's that simple. Hawthorn did the same, kept their core and found complimentary players.
We did it in 2018 with young players on low contracts playing significant roles in Rioli, Ryan, Duggan, Cole and Venables. Older talented players complimented by young low cost talent who haven't been paid yet.
Unfortunately we're in the middle now where these under 23s want to be paid but aren't going to help our high talent core get over the line again.

Miller as a junior was a ruck. Played in the Kalgoorlie league and rucked for WA in the u18s. Was described as a tough ruckman, Gold Field league does that to kids playing against men.
So not a bad option to add ruck depth and kp defense depth PLUS add some hardness to the team.
Good option IMO.
195cm isn't big enough to ruck at AFL level imo.
And if he is coming in as a kpd, he should be 5th in line (Gov, Barass, Edwards, Brander) - obviously performance could move him up that order.
I don't particularly like the idea/optics that the strategy seems to be to have 3-4 reserve players in key positions and ruck, but midfield depth that thins out at the first injury.

Wow that Geelong board. Just about deserves a thread about just how shit Geelong big footy posters are.
This is always going to be viewed in light of how our season went. If we got a flag no price was too big, fifth losing to eighth though and people will question it.
I'm pretty happy we got our player, gives us a better chance of getting a second with Shuey and co on the list still.
