As a youngster, we were tortured by the mighty Guy McKenna and oh how I wished we would have a half back as great as him.

Then Enright came along and he was at least the equal of him.

He would have been a champion midfielder as well I suspect, but he was needed elsewhere.

His CV is absolutely ridiculous.

So gutted to see him go. Just an absolute icon of the club and a legend of the game itself who posterity will remember him as probably the best non-key defender of all time. Opposition coaches and players alike will be breathing a little easier tonight knowing that Boris is gone.

In other news, Cyril Rioli is celebrating his freedom this morning as he finally crawls out of the pocket he's been living in for the last ten years.

His game - and particularly his first quarter - in the 2009 Qualifying Final against the Dogs set the tone for how we played that series, when everyone was waiting for us to fall over.

Legend of Geelong, and the AFL in general. Had everything you wanted in a back pocket/half back flanker. Most of the good ones either provide plenty of drive from the backline, or shut their opponent out of the game. The great ones do both - and Enright is the best I've seen at balancing the two.

Little aside - he was one of the best handballers I've ever seen. Equal to Voss (I never had the pleasure of seeing Polly Farmer play).

Sad, but good to see him go out playing as well as ever.

Absolute legend of not only our club but the entire game. Goes to show you dont always need searing pace to be a star. Best reader of the play i have seen play and worked his arse off early on in his career to improve his kicking to the point where it was almost perfect.

There is going to be a great big hole at half back next season.
