At 100% vaccination rate the virus will not die, get that through your thick skull. Again I’ll say this, you’re vaccinated & protected right ?

Spare me the personal insults if you cannot debate an issue rationally I am not interested in your opinion. You have just joined a small but select band in my ignore box.

All Victorian gathering caps to be lifted from midnight tonight

Victoria premier Daniel Andrews is speaking now and has confirmed that the state will imminently pass through the 90% double vaccination mark, so new, relaxed restrictions will come into effect from tonight:

What do these rule changes from 11.59pm tonight mean? Well, first and foremost, there are no more caps, there are no more closures.

There are no more rules in terms of how many people can be in different spaces.

As it is to your home, back to normal. The number of people in a pub or cafe or restaurant, back to normal.

There will not be Covid rules that determine how many people are at the pub, it will be the liquor licence, back to normal.

You can stand up to have a drink, dancefloors, all of those things that we have missed, and that are absolutely about getting to as normal a situation as possible.

That normality that we have all craved, we are able to deliver that as a result of the amazing work that Victorians have done in getting vaccinated in record time. And in record numbers.

At 100% vaccination plus other measures there is the ability to get the reproduction rate so low that it will.

“If your brakes work why are you concerned mine don’t?!”

The level of individualism in our society is really quite f@&ked up. How about get the jab so that you reduce the risk of transmission to other people who genuinely can’t get it themselves?

Er, what is this other people?

Yep. And I think that was exactly what Tribey was saying, with a spot on anecdote.

The risk from any pandemic comes from its societal impact. So discussing it in terms of the rights of the individual is just showing peak ignorance IMHO.

Just like Polio, right? Just like the flu variants that have disappeared because of vaccines and being more conscious of hygiene?

Vaccinated? yes. Protected? to a point....... and a bunch of unvaccinated imbeciles are going to be spreading it at a much greater rate than those who are vaccinated.

PS - might be time to cancel your membership since you'll probably need to get jabbed before you get into AO given what they just announced for the Ashes

Adelaide Oval's new covid jab policy is somewhat amusing. If you have a medical exemption and can't get the covid jab, you are deemed safe and can enter the ground provided you have had a negative test in the 72 hours prior to entry. But if you are unvaccinated without an exemption, you too can have a negative test 72 hours prior to entry but you will not be allowed in because you are deemed unsafe.

The SACA and the SMA are still flirting with compulsory vaccination for patrons at the Second Ashes Test which starts on Dec 16. They have made a statement re staff but have not yet extended it to patrons. The borders will have been opened for almost 3 weeks by the time the Test starts so the chances are there will be an infected person or two in the ground.

Just got the following via e-mail from SACA - you need to be double jabbed:

Venue Capacity
A venue capacity of 35,000 has currently been approved for the upcoming summer of cricket. This represents an increase of approximately 10,000 over last summer. The increased capacity will cover all days of the upcoming Vodafone Men’s Ashes Test Match, the seven prime time Adelaide Strikers KFC BBL│11 matches, the two CommBank Women’s Ashes matches scheduled for February and the Men’s Dettol T20 International between our recently crowned T20 World Champions and Sri Lanka on February 18.
SACA will continue to work with Cricket Australia and Adelaide Oval to ensure SACA Members access is maximised and the match day experience is world class.

Adelaide Oval Vaccination Mandate
Following this week’s release by the State Government of the new Testing, Tracing, Isolation and Quarantining (TTIQ) model, the Board of the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority has determined that Adelaide Oval will become a full COVID-19 vaccination only venue. Proof of full vaccination will be required via smart phone or a printed immunisation statement for all game and event day patrons aged 12 and over. Anyone who is not able to provide proof of full vaccination, or a valid exemption, will be denied entry. Anyone found to have entered the stadium without the necessary proof will face removal from the stadium, ticket cancellation and a three-year venue ban.

The Stadium Management Authority believe this is the best way they can minimise the risk for staff and patrons being subject to the TTIQ policy. This practice is becoming the standard at major events in Australia and around the world because it provides confidence to everyone attending that they’re in a very COVID-safe environment.
SACA has worked tirelessly with the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority, SA Health and SA Police to create an environment that enables as many people as possible to return to the cricket in a safe environment and we thank them for their ongoing support.
We understand that this is a significant change for Members. Please reach out to our Membership team should you require any assistance.

Many thanks for the heads up. Always good to get some inside information. it is probably the only safe way to go and as dav 3 has posted it has some implications for AFL club season ticket holders. The ruling is from the SMA and not the SACA so that implies the that mandatory vaccination will apply to all activities at the AO.
