New Zealand will keep its borders closed to most international travellers for a further five months. Fully vaccinated international travellers will be allowed to enter the country from April 30, 2022, onwards with the re-opening staged over time, COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins told a news conference.

I’ve started to follow an antivax page on FB that a friend of mine keeps sharing posts from.
It’s very strange seeing into their group think, but some of the stuff makes me chuckle…

They don’t trust mainstream media. Call it fake news.

All that footage, thousands and thousands of hours of hospitals overrun and people dying of covid19 is fake and all lying actors according to someone I know.

In the next breath he days that (the easiest things a person can fake such as ) the youtube videos he puts up of anti vax ‘experts’ speaking from their basements is the ‘truth’ and in no way made up.

Not a great endorsement for the efficacy of vaccines

A colleague (early 50s) in Europe who had AZ in July also told me he caught it start of last week. Said it was like the longest, worse cold he'd ever had.
I wonder if the vaccine only offers protection against low levels of exposure.

Here's a better example of the efficacy of vaccines:

Ms Webster said in hindsight she would have taken more heed about risks she picked up on, like the restaurant she was in not checking vaccination status, and some wait staff not wearing masks.

Sounds like an anti vaxer wait staff probably sneezed it all over the table

It just shows that being vaxxed means we can still easily catch it. So you must still exercise caution if you don't want to get it. The hospitalisation and ICU numbers in NSW and Vic obviously tell a great story about the success of the vaccines in keeping people out of hospital, but it's not the answer that a lot of people are expecting it to be.

Such an absolute low life.
I hope for his sake he doesn’t catch covid19, he looks a prime candidate for a serious outcome, much like Palmer and Kelly.

So if I work a casual job as say a retail worker or am a tradie running a one man show, have been at an exposure site, go get tested and test positive ... does the government pay me to isolate? If the answer is no then good luck getting fully vaccinated people who have already done the right thing to put their livelihood on the line and go get tested.

If he got the vaccine in early July the efficacy would have fallen in the 20 weeks since he was vaccinated. AZ are saying protection offered by their vaccine lasts longer than others but testing has shown that Pfitzer can fall as low as 47% inside of 20 weeks. The Australian Government has approved boosters for 24 weeks after full vaccination but on the latest evidence from the US and UK it could easily be 20 weeks.

At least your friend did not die and I assume he did not finish up in hospital.

I honestly wouldn't blink an eyelid if I found out that fat piece of shit died of COVID, he's a human (along with Palmer and Kelly) the planet can do without.

Correct he said it was a little difficult to continue working (from home) but he was able to, but hasn't yet got his sense of smell back. I also had Pfizer in July, so I would also expect my immunity is getting low too. At least there isn't as much of it around compared to Europe right now.

So "we're back to normal"?

HALTHCARE didn't fail. The end of the world didn't occur?
Your idiotic rantings didn't eventuate?
Who would have guessed?

Yes, because we locked down at the peak of this wave and opened when the vast majority of the population was vaccinated? Who would of thought?

It won't be the last of it though.. as the efficacy of these vaccines wane and we start to see breakthrough infections it will be imperative that front line workers and people that are particularly vulnerable get a booster shot to avoid carnage through the colder months next year as we are seeing in Europe now.
We are already seeing front line workers especially in HQ who haven't had the booster where I am now getting breakthrough infections easier and more frequently than midway through this year.
