Had the bushfires debacle led to a decent COVID response by Scomo? Like he didn't want to be caught with his pants down twice? He's done a decent job imo.
He started off a bit ragged (going to the footy etc) but once the Premiers made it clear they were going to go it alone if he didn't up the ante he's done pretty well. The National Cabinet was a great idea and the fact most of the premiers are sensible pragmatic people and he hasn't had to deal so much with the science deniers among his feds has been a bonus for all of us.

Singapore today with another spike of 300+. Looks like the loosening of restrictions have increased it somewhat. In saying that they have a high population density in their city so it’s easier for the virus to have more of an outbreak compared to Australia.

This is a big problem for countries that bring in a lot of semi skilled labour. Companies house them in dorms & it goes through it like wild fire. Would be interested to see how the gulf states are handling this issue as there are tens of thousands of indentured south Asian nationals working there.

In each dormitory apartment they put 20 workers - conditions are ideal for rapid spread.

As long as Singapore locked the apartment complex down tight (and let's face it, they have the means, power and public support to do so) then the 300+ new cases aren't that big of a deal - it's fairly easy to segregate them from the locals. They are also all fairly young and fit.

What punishment will he get if he sneaks out of jail to visit her again?

What a loser. Imagine letting the whole state know you're a selfish dweeb.

Wow, just look at the UK's death rate. 1 in 8. Not good.
And the figures over here are actually stranger and in many ways worse than that.

The figure Ashley used (88k cases, 11300 deaths) is the hospital figures. That's the one they are using. Yesterday it was...
'Figures released on Tuesday revealed 12,107 people had died in hospital with the virus, an increase of 778 on the previous day.'
This is also the figure used by worldometers and is sourced from the HM Government Dept of Health and Social Care witter feed @DHSCgovuk

The important bit is the words 'in hospital'. Anyone who dies in the community or in a care home has not been counted in the official figures.

A bit of that going on in the US as well, New York added 3,700+ to it's tally last night of previously uncounted deaths and Florida is not releasing any news about cases in their aged care facilities.

But slightly concerning that WA has 4 cases of non-cruise ship or overseas arrival origin.

COVID-19 UPDATE | 5 new positive cases overnight bringing the state's total to 532 . 1 case is from the Artania, 2 from the Costa Victoria, 1 is from close contact with a confirmed case and 1 is still under investigation.

3 from 5 with one a close contact.

Ah that makes sense. Better but still not at zero.
