You might as well rename the poll:

Do you support Carlton?

A - No
B - Yes

...and you would have the same results :)

Murphy had a great year and will only get better as he works on a couple of his weaknesses. Cotchin looked great aswell. Honestly cannot split them in potential so I have no idea.

Cotchin probably will win the poll though, we aren't liked much around ere us Carlton folk. That will affect the result unfortunately.

i found these two were quite similar, couldnt tell em apart, but had to go with cotchy just ooozes class:D

but heyy i wish we had murphy i reckon hes gona be a mad player:thumbsu:

Cotchin hands down.

Murphy is an extremely good player but his disposal IMO lets him down. Still think Carlton should have taken Ellis with #1 pick.

Cotchin is the beez kneez has so much time, will be an elite player of the highest sought.

Cotchin is better.

But he won't ever win anything that matters because he landed at Richmond and he's their only good midfielder.

Tambling, Deledio and Foley is the worst support cast in the AFL.
what the hell are you on, tambling is a better than average player (just where he was picked that people believe he should be an out and out superstar), Deledio (FFS) cmon, this guy has won a best and fairest, grand final sprint, army award and NAB rising star, to say he is apart of one of the poorest midfields is ludicrus, and foley, WTF, have you even seen him play, he is a dynamo at clearances and can run with the ball almost as much as someone like judd (although not as consistently).

Cotchin is in a different class . . . Murphy will end up being a nice stat-getter, ala Peter Bell. . .Nothing more.

You're counting the grand final sprint? What next, Lou's Handball?

Comparing a solid midfielder to a class midfielder. Cothchin without a doubt.

Ellis is better than Murphy because like Cotchin having class is hard to find. In high pressure conjested situations you need to be so precise with your disposal and class will always break games open. Murphy is more likely turn it over and end up in a goal down the other end.

This comparison highlights why Carlton are going to struggle for a while.

You really can't go too wrong with a number pick, somehow Carlton did twice.

If Murphy was draft in the ninties his terrible skills could have been more easily covered up in the kick to a contest style play that dominated that era. Richmond just traded pick 42 to Port for a player that is a better contested ball gatherer and has superior skills than Murphy.

Then when there is a A+ grade midfielder in the draft and Carlton have pick of the crop, they draft a guy that was cloned from a strand of Josh Fraser DNA.

He's a ruckman/midfielder the Carlton fans tell us, so is Fraser guys, and guess what, Fraser isn't any good.

Not much thought has gone into the Carlton rebuild. Get an injured Judd and hope he carries us to a flag like he did at the Eagles, is pretty much the strategy they've employed.

I'm sorry but prepare yourself for a bit of a let down if that is what u are expecting.

I think if most clubs had number one pick that year then they would have picked up Murphy, now im not going to be a biased supporter cause there's nothing i hate more. I believe Murphy has done great since he debuted, was on track in his first season to come close to grabbing the rising star, except for his shoulder in round 13, last year was coping the number 1 tag each week cause in his second year of footy he was carlton's best midfielder, and this year i think he had a great seaon coming second in our best and fairest. All of you guys are right though his disposal does let him down at times, and is one of the major flawes to his game. I still believe that other aspects of his game, still show that he could be an elite player, and disposal can be fixed. As for Cotchin I didn't watch enough of him to have a high opinion but i do remember his game against carlton this year where he chased down murph and tore us up in the first half. Cotchin does seem to shine in area's murph lack's such as class and disposal. Give cotchin another season or two and i think it would be far to rate the two but for now we have too very good players begining there caree's it seems a bit pointless to compare.

i love our players being compared all the time, alot of self doubt by mostly richmond n hawthorn people

hmmmm. Cotchin is a first year player who already has elite disposal and composure compared to Murphy who has had 3 years and butchers his kciks that he gets from handball received

Cotchin looks very clean. Having said that, I noticed him fumble, lose his footing and sell his teammates into trouble against the better pressure sides.

I'd put this down to him being young and still learning the game, but he's not elite level yet as some are saying. Murphy has done alot more and truly is a ball magnet. Two very exciting prospects.
