No not even the strong clubs can.can the swans survive a year of 0 games in terms of missed income
This was in Sept, but yes. We've got a lot of native animals on our property, poor buggers down south.Road kill capital because its still got lots of animals left to be killed. Sad but true.
Theres been a very noticeable difference in the numbers of Paddymelons, Wallaby's and koalas etc since the fires up here in NE NSW

It is bated (sic). It seems ironic calling for the end of AFL season before it has started when AFLW continues to roll along unabated.
Nothing to do with crowds just the actual playing. It is bated (sic).
Not playing in front of crowds.
Everyone has to handle this thing their own way but I'm pretty much with your mum, I plan on not changing a thing in my life that I'm not forced to change and if I get it, i get it - I think I'm healthy enough to cope with it.Yep same with my parents. My Mum has informed me that she still intends to go into town for her daily coffee and, in her words, ”the virus can go screw itself”I’ve tried to explain the risks but she’s having none of it.
No club is going to fold if the season is cancelled.can the swans survive a year of 0 games in terms of missed income
No club is going to fold if the season is cancelled.
While revenue for the year would plummet, so would a lot of the costs invovled in running the club. It certainly wouldn't cancel the loss of revenue out, there would be a hit, but the league and all of the clubs are strong enough to take it.
The Swans would require a massive bailout if the season continued with no crowds. They have net assets of only $2.2m and rely on ~$500k-$1m per home game in revenue to survive. If the league was cancelled entirely, they would also require a massive bailout but the extent of it would depend on how much costs could be reduced (for example through player salaries being cancelled)No club is going to fold if the season is cancelled.

It would certainly require AFL assistance to most of the clubs, but there is enough money in the game for the to happen. I'm not saying it wouldn't hurt the clubs or the league, of course it would, but the clubs and the league will survive this. The Swans would require a massive bailout if the season continued with no crowds. West Coast and Collingwood would definitely survive, probably a few others.

Imagine if we had a serious problem.
Would be utter anarchy.
I am now leaning more towards hoping they just cancel the season.
Imagine if a Martin or Buddy had one of their freak games and there was no crowd there. I am not one for caring about atmosphere at the footy, in fact I love the NEAFL and practice matches etc because of the grassroots vibe at those games. But there will inevitably be moments this season that should go down in footy folklore, but won't, because they will just fall flat and not have the same effect without a crowd reaction.
Imagine if a key player like Heeney or Rampe or Aliir did a serious knee injury that then seriously impacted their 2021 seasons, and what for? So they could play a game or two in March/April that ultimately count for nothing when a fork is stuck in the season?
Imagine whichever team wins the flag having a permanent asterisk next to their title when they win the most compromised season in AFL history.
They're just the sentimental reasons it just wouldn't work. That's not even getting into the logistical side of things, or, on a far more serious front, the health and safety side of things.
I'm sure clubs would be able to find a way to keep their players fit and simulate the lifestyle of playing a match for 3 hours every 6-8 days across the months of April to September. Time to see what these sports scientists are being paid for.
AFL should just call it now. Yes it will ******* suck not having footy for another 365 days but it will be worth it when we come back to a clean slate rather than the shit-show I reckon it would be if they allow this season to be compromised.
If you shut down the whole country by saying sat home and quarantine every international for 14 days i doubt this thing is going awayyeah agree
rather wait and see when crowds are allowed then assess, and shorter season or nothing ahead of made up crap season

I would rather they attempt a crowd-less season than cancelling it completely just because of diminished atmosphere.
Almost half of our squad have contracts expiring this year, so this season is an opportunity to extend their career. If it is safe to do, I am assume the players would prefer to play than miss a whole season. It would be like being Essendon or suffering a season ending injury.
And potentially having no television revenue would put a few clubs into a even worse financial position.
