well we know we cant continue the way we are for longer than 6 months ,
Don’t think we can do this much longer than another month. Harsh as it is life needs to move on. Government will define an acceptable mortality rate. After all they only tried to flatten the curve not eliminate COVID 19. Without a vaccine we could be like this for an undefined time.

well right now theres 985 active cases and 90 people (ave age 80) have died
not arguing we havent done the right thing and i think waiting to mid may to adjust is smart from here, but if this stays where it is give or take, then yep we have to move on

this is ruining more lives than its saving

rather than go around in boring ciricles about things completely out of our control

how about answers to this- i first went to the mcg boxing day 1997. it rained the whole day so saw no cricket and it was still exciting to be there

Agree I think the fact that the PM held a press conference discussing mental health shows more are struggling from the cure than the disease.

he also reiterated supression is our strategy

how are you going with it all

I am personally fine, though I am torn on how I'd like things to go moving forward.

On the one hand, I'm all for this lockdown to continue for as long as necessary. My priority is my granddad who is being cared for by myself and mainly my missus, but who will have a far more uncertain run of it if things open up, and my mum, who lives in the US as a high-risk person hearing worrying news about certain states re-opening when the virus is still at scary levels there. (Hence my dislike for Trump reaching nuclear levels in recent weeks.)

On the other hand, there are millions out there such as yourself with kids, a responsibility I don't have, and the thought of whole families suffering through this is equally worrying. Hoping this is not the case for you at the moment?

Only because we are holding the line. If we let go of the reins and it gets away then we will have thousands a day infected and a death rate of 8% not 1%. Remember one wedding produced 38 infected one worker at newMarch produced excess of 40. The multiplier is exponential. Our strategy has been to flatten the curve and buy time for vaccine. That is very sensible. Easing some restrictions is likewise sensible but only if we are certain we retain control.

First visit was 97 preliminary final Dogs v Crows. Had a great time never seen grown men cry about losing a game before. Dogs fans were shattered.

on one hand above you say we don't know about this. then you make several assertions as to what will happen

it will spread yes, if we have testing and quarantine then it should be managed in the system we have and have added too, they have consistently said they arent trying to eliminate it

i think gradually peeling back restrictions will avoid what you suggest happening

time will tell i guess, but given we cant guarantee a cure or a vaccine they will eventually remove restrictions or everyone will be sick and homeless

I read once luke darcy and co had organised premiership ring designs before that prelim

Mine was the best - 2005 GF!
Three rows from the top of the great southern stand, players looked like ants, didn't matter one bit, I was there - and when that final siren went (which we couldnt actually hear) it was one of the most amazing feelings of my life. I can't imagine ever feeling that again.

. Teachers are at the forefront of this.
No they're not.

Anyway I’ll continue homeschooling my children and trying to do my own job at the same time while teachers stay safe.
Again, what state and level are your children at?

that will be a popular opinion, teachers arent allowed to be criticised
What rational criticisms do you make of teachers that get shouted down?

I've been once which was in the '16 season. Swannies Vs Richmond. Tigers kick the winning goal after the siren :(

Are you a teacher and or do you have children

After that last couple of years have tended to be games against the Demons, just worked out that way, and I seriously hated the Hawk fans at that other game. They hit every hit every horrid middle aged white men cliche I've heard of. They were awful.

If lockdowns are going to be eased as they will be it’s best to start with regional centres that have little infection and no local transmission. Get all those places back to work without risk. Defer decisions on major cities at least until we see nil transmission without a known source for a minimum 2 weeks and only then and 100% testing rolled out in those centres to support risk free roll out. Personally I’m totally comfortable this going as long as it needs even until a vaccine is rolled out. Deal with it I say.

There’s no such thing as risk free roll out imo even if you test everyone today.

wont go back over old ground with the fact you will be fine while many won’t be. I did find it slightly sad and funny the CMO reinforcing practices like hand hygiene and staying away if unwell will need to remain, shouldn’t they be standard
