Croad has more strings to his bow, a lot more versatile.

Crap, Rivers is twice the player Croad is. He may be able to go forward, but he'll go possessionless, just like down back ...![]()

rivers was awesome in his first season but since then hes been ordinary
Half true.rivers was awesome in his first season but since then hes been ordinary
Croad getting last years AA CHB spot would suggest what he does, he does well too.Rivers. What he does do, he does well..
His versatility is a huge positive, not a negative. Can be played as a genuine CHB or CHF, but by virtue of being the only genuine KPP at Hawthorn the last couple of years, he's been forced to chop and change, and play wherever he's needed on the day. That hasn't eroded his value in either of those positions though.Croad has always been an inbetween, CHB or CHF? Not really either. .
Agreed, Croad has had 9 years in the system. Rivers is a great young player, and I'd love him at Hawthorn, but it is an unfair comparison.Plus it's a bit unfair to be comparing Rivers to a guy that's four years his senior.
