I am more than happy with Bode and would just about class him as untouchable.

Midfielder wise, I would only rate Francou, Stevens and James on par or better than Bode. Bode runs all day and does all the tought 1%ers that will help the team. He is improving his disposal by foot. Once he improves that, he might even crack it as AA midfielder.

Bode has turned into a consistent hard at it midfielder that is always at the bottom of the packs, the sort that coaches love. I think Bode would be welcomed with open arms by any club. Hell I think he might also crack it into Brisbane's 22. ;)

I'd agree with all of that but add that he's not quite untouchable yet........

In regard to a midfield role most teams only have 3-4 players that play the attacking role with others being used primarily to stop the opposition's best midfielders.

This is one of those rare situations where both clubs have been a winner in the trade and no matter what supporters from either club says I'm sure both clubs and the players involved are more than happy with what they got out of the deal.

We only have one negating player through the midfield and thats Stenglein. We usually go in with a very attacking style of game. Apart from Stenglein there is not one midfielder that I would call a negating player. 99/100 we play one tagger and the rest go head to head.

BTW, I agree that its a win win for both teams and we are all happy with what we got. I would like the deal even more if Matthew Smith turned out to be a very good AFL player, but I won't be holding my breath:D

Even players going head to head are designed to be negating at times but not full on tagging. I wouldn't say he does it all the time but Bickley has a very good negating style when needed but like a few others if you get the ball first you go for it. It really depends on the team you are playing and whether someone is blitzing or not.

I'm sure you'll see Kane Cornes become more attacking in the way he plays the game like has ocurred with Carr who can be damaging when he gets hold of the ball.

Another Port player (who I would also put in front of Bode) that will be in the midfield shortly after 2 years out of the game and can play both defending and attacking roles is Michael Wilson who is the seconded fittest player at the club behind Kane Cornes.

We're happy with our midfield and you're happy with yours and both are quite effective at doing the jobs they need to do.

Bodes an inside midfielder is he?? Well...learn something new everyday i guess!!

Id much rather Shaun Burgoyne than Matthew Bode.

Your joshin surely... Chocko would take him back tomorrow. LOL

If he was taht important he would never have let him leave in the first place.

He'd be after Francou, Stevens, Carr, James in the pecking order at Port. Would probably be equal with or a nose behind Schofield - can come off the bench, pickup your 15-20 disposals and provide a spark. Id also choose Kane Cornes over Bode but more because of their different roles. Bode is the sorta player you;d like to have on your bench. Bode circa-02/03 would add a lot to any teams midfield depth. However, when we had him, he was nothing more than an injury prone struggler.
We got Shaun Burgoyne out of that trade. Im more than happy with Shaun Burgoyne at the moment and would pick him everytime over Matthew Bode.

Given whom we landed with the transaction I could not give a ****. Further, define top quality... Voss, Buckley, Goodwin, Bode?

Bullcrap. Shaun has been are best performing forward so far this year, is coming 4th or 5th in the AFL goalkicking and has been in our top 5-6 players in every game this year except round 1. Goal returns of 1, 3, 5, 3, 3 and 4 isnt consistent?

Carr? Cornes? Pfft... these blokes are negating players and can't perform the dynamic work in the centre that Bode does. And Burgoyne isn't even a fully fledged midfielder.

Last year Bode picked up 448 disposals and kicked 22 goals in 25 games.

Burgoyne picked up 393 disposals and kicked 41 goals in 24 games. Just as good a season if you ask me.

Last time Burgoyne played as a "fully fledged midfielder" he picked up 422 disposals in 20 games - a much better return than Bodes season last year.

Id say Peter Burgoyne is just as good a footballer as Bode is.

God forbid if we put up any Crow player above one from the Port Power,

Funny how this thread started out as a Crows/Collingwood one & now it's a how good the paps midfield is & how Bodey would never get a game in their starting 22, i couldn't care less what you guys think of Matty Bode & good luck to you on drafting the younger Burgoyne i'm sure he will develop into a very good AFL player but isn't it about time to get over this anti Crow syndrome & look at improving your crowds for home games & winning finals that matter rather than bag the AFC & their players,

Colligwood will & rightly so start favorites for this game as the AAMI stadium & the crowds of opposition supporters hold no fear for them as has been proven in the past,

Crows will be without Nigel & possibly Goodwin throw in no Stevens, Burton or Welsh & Micky, Bucks & Eddie will be licking their lips at the chance to regain the respect that they have lost in the last 3 weeks,

Big danger game for the Crows this one,

A troll like yourself conceding defeat already noddy

a troll !! hey i can live with that o fellow troll, :)

actually i'm trying the Macca19 system of building up the opposition & giving reasons why Collingwood can win,

not nearly as convincing as him am i ??

I've seen almost every minute of the Crows this year. Bode's ability to get the ball is unquestionable, but he plays the long bomb almost each and every time, which 1) causes predictability to his play and 2) doesn't give your forwards much of a chance.

Last time i checked, it was a Crow supporter that first brought up the Port/Bode/Crows thing. Also last time i checked noone said he wouldnt make our first 22. But dont let the facts get in the way of a good whinge now will you!!!

Maybe you can tell your fellow Crow supporters who quite willingly joined into the Port/Bode/Crows discussion to get over it and move on as well! But thats right...its us who started it, us who have gone on and on and on about it, hours after the discussion finished whilst no Crows supproters joined in the discussion at all, isnt that right noddy :)

look at improving your crowds for home games & winning finals that matter rather than bag the AFC & their players,

And how do you suggest 6 online Port supporters can improve crowds or fix our 'finals problem'??

Last time i checked, Im not Mark Williams, dreamkillers isnt Greg Boulton, mic59 isnt Brian Cunningham and Guey_34 isnt Matthew Primus. So unless they read this board, which is highly doubtful, then maybe you should direct your comment to them, and not 6 online Port supporters - who cannot do a thing to fix our crowd "problem" (unless we buy 10,000 tickets each and give them away each week....even tho are home crowds are in the top 8-10 in the AFL over the last few years despite having the lowest amount of supporters australia-wide..but again, dont let the facts get in the way), nor can we don a jumper and get out there come finals time and get a kick.

So please noddy, tell me how i can fix Ports crowd problem and how I can fix our finals "problem"?

Well they do say Plagiarism is the best form of flattery so thankyou nodster!! :D ;)

And anyway...it only works for me :p

My thoughts on the game - on form the Crows should win by a good 8-10 goals....but Collingwood play extremely well at Footy Park. Almost like a 'home away from home' type thing. Only lost one out of their last 5 games here, and havent had a big thumping against them here for quite some time. Its quite feasable that Collingwood will get up here, despite their somewhat lack of looking like a Football team in the last few weeks.

Collingwood by 4 points.

Ive seen every Crow game this year and Bode doesnt strike me as the inside midfielder type that a Simon Black or Josh Francou is. Bode plays his best footy, in my opinion, when he is allowed to run away from the pack with the ball and use his pace.

Perhaps you should look back and see who bagged who in regard to Bode and where he was at when he was at Port.

Mind you you may need to take the blinkers off to see that as the bagging goes both ways............

As I mentioned more than once both clubs are happy with what they got out of the deal the Bode wanted at the time...........

As has also been mentioned plenty of times here and previously Bode would not get into our current mid-field rotation......now unless the rules change and every side plays 22 midfielders I don't see than changing now or during Bode's career...........I see your still selectively reading posts for what you want to see.........

BTW good to see you ended your post with your normal troll that you continually posted on our board.........nothings changed but that's expected with you Noddy.........

Actually, that was me. And I was taking the ****. However, surely it cannot be expected that Bode, Doughty and Gallagher fill the void of Goodwin (if out) and Johnson? Goodwin and Johnson compiled a half of what was regarded as the closest entity to Brisbane's brilliant midfield.

Now, if Bode is a 'top quality' midfielder, which I'm still yet to receive a definition for, then maybe that will give the Crows the shot in the arm required to overcome Carringbush. However, as I think he's not up to it, I'm a troll - supposedly a troll who never wanted Bode to leave PAFC ... so carry on.

Oh, and because I think Collingwood, being a quality outfit will return from their slump to beat the Crows - coming off a win against a lacklustre (and they were F*CKING lacklustre) Kangaroo team, I'm a troll. Please forgive my trespasses.

Guey is or was a port supporter,

My fellow Crow supporters were only defending our club & their players as all good supporters should,

Sorry Macca can't help you out on the crowd or finals problem & to be honest i hope you don't either, :D

Guey is a Port supporter yes but it was a Crow supporter than took him to task and said 'why do port supporters have a thing against Bode....'.

At last someone from down below who has shown some honesty & admitted to his sh*t stirring,

as for forgiving you your trespasses !! as dk would say "dream on"
