I think the Festival of Football will be great. Really the money the Government is tipping in is fairly small given how much they tip into events like Womad and the Festival.

People will focus on that one weekend buy I think it's designed to get people back to the football. The SMA and the SA clubs are losing a heap of revenue so I think the pay off might come as the year goes on.

We need to get Sth Aussies off their tushies & back to the Adelaide Oval .....crowds were very disappointing this year

Norwood Oval gets a game!!! Told you brucetiki

Great to see AFL played at the home of football

'The Herald Sun reports Barossa Valley is set to stage one match and Norwood believed to be another venue.'

It hasn't been confirmed yet.

Ideally, I reckon the 3 non-Adelaide Oval games should be played in regional areas.

Stupid question, when they say tickets are free to club members, they mean members of the participating clubs?

AFC members don't get access to all games?

Participating club members get access to games involving their teams (ie we'll get access to the game involving the Crows only).

I reckon the AFL will release some sort of 'Super package' that will include tickets to at least all Adelaide Oval games.

What are the non AFL games, Sorry?

I agree (FTFY). With all due respect to the suburban grounds, the marketing / tourism etc is maximised by putting games out to areas like the Barossa, not Adelaide suburbs.
Alternatively - Would people want to travel over for a weekend of footy then be stuck in a regional venue?

Plus, Barossa/Hills/McClaren Vale are close enough people can do day trips as it is. They'll get tourim boosts anyway

Infact, maybe more so (People in Adelaide for games, might be turned off going to the country to check out hahndorf/Barossa/Victor etc. if there's a game there involving other teams.)

I really don't know. Say it's Essendon v GWS in the Barossa. Do Bombers and Giants fans plan their visit around staying in the Barossa - footy one day, wine the next and maybe a day trip to Adelaide for a game at AO? Or would they rather stay in Adelaide, watch one or 2 other games, and make a day trip to the Barossa for their game? It "feels" right to me that there should be multiple games in regional areas, but I'm no tourist behaviour expert.

Maybe there'll be some extra business for bus operators, however it pans out.

IMO .....more chance of Port and Crows games being in regional areas .....and main VIC Clubs at AO and surburban grounds

Idea is to boost Sth Aust tourism ......interstate fans will travel to Adelaide (Coll, Carl, Ess, Rich) .....but they won't then go to regional areas IMHO

AFL will want to maximize attendances .....has anything been said about double headers at Adelaide Oval ?

You sure?

I would not be surprised if bicks is on with ginever in 2023. Rowey has been away a lot since the delisting and the dynamic between bicks and timmy is much better.

could see rowey getting saturday mornings and calling matches

What about members of non-competing Clubs ?
All club members of the teams playing will be able to attend, including double up games on Saturday & Sunday.

Which means Crows & Port will be scheduled for Thursday & Friday night games.

Basically the state government is funding the admission fee for non Crows & Port games in anticipation of increased tourism from non-SA members trvalling across to watch the game.

Good deal if your team involved in the double up games.
