I honestly feel dumber for reading the last few pages, such a non issue that ROB has his photo taken with someone who challenges the ideals of one side of politics. Society works better when we have those voices because when we don't, we have fascism, or worse, communism, I'd always view those who want to keep a voice silent with some scepticism.

I've seen some hysterical comments on social media too. I've seen one compare it to the situation with Tex last year (and calling for a similar length suspension), and another contemplate whether they want to continue supporting the club (despite this having nothing to do with the club).

This dude is an alien. Unbelievable

I was very proud of myself for beating Steph Curry on the weekend in a game of 1 on 1. Now you could argue it was not ''the'' Steph Curry it was my neighbour Steph Curry who manages the local Pakistani takeaway.

I'm not up with the RNJW/... I am too foolish to read the site rules slur game, but what is the 'all meat diet' about? Is that based on Pete evans and his paleo thing or something more fun like lizard people and the illuminati child trafficking ring that I discovered Qanon was about a few months ago.

Jordan Peterson is on an all meat diet.

can you name a few controversial left figures that you'd also not want him posting on Insta with?
That's actually an interesting point.

I'm not sure what would make someone a radical left figure in this day and age. It's not like we have folks advocating violence for a "greater good" anymore, like a Malcolm X.

I'm not even sure what a controversial left position could be. Communism? That seems very 50 years ago.

Peterson seems like a bit of a pompous knob, but that's not a crime. I don't understand why he need to be so anti Trans folks, and I don't know why he has to be so outspoken against the Australian convention of acknowledgement of country. I guess there's no massive downside for ROB publicly aligning with JP, unless a teammate gets put off somehow.

He's been a clinical psychologist for a long time and taught at a number of colleges including Harvard. What are the topics that are 'outside his wheelhouse'?

Cleaning your room is fantastic advice particularly because it applies to everyone not matter your circumstances.
He's pretty controversial around his opinions towards transgendered folk.

Is that because you don’t find any positions of the left controversial?

The British labour was led until a couple of years ago by a nasty old trot with deeply antisemitic views, supported Hamas and any other anti-western power, lauded by every grizzled socialist and communist and had undeniable links to a Russian state who had previously released old KGB files showing they thought him too stupid to be an asset (likely true). British intelligence deemed him a threat to the country and would not share classified materials with him

That controversial enough?

I don’t know either but I suspect his books are a place to start for anyone who cares enough.

And that’s the real crux here, that we need to be very careful about. What if a teammate had a problem with him because he was gay? If he converted to Islam?

That’s the essence of equality laws, that they right do not give veto’s to people who find others objectionable in protected ways

Otherwise we’d find ourselves hostage to every cretin with a crayon and enough time to write to a club or business.

Do I think Jeremy Corbyn is too controversial for an AFL player to be photographed with?

No.

I do think Clementine Ford is pretty divisive though, so she probably qualifies.

Except the majority of his books are innocuous.

He doesn't become the hero of the anti-woke right until he becomes an anti-trans spokesperson, later in his career, when he starts to rail upon what he perceives as political correctness and gender rights invading is personal freedoms.

This is the only thing worth unpacking.

A teammate who is gay MIGHT have a problem with ROB for so publicly promoting his agreement with Peterson. Frankly, there's a massive chance they would.

That then fosters team disharmony, potentially fracturing the club.

Completely avoidable - of course Peterson or anyone can expound their views and potentially monetize the interest in them. ROB can also believe whatever silly shit he wants.

I'm less interested in a player wanting to publicly promote their support for someone who can be divisive towards the club.[/QUOTE]

No he isn't. He just doesn't want to be legally compelled to lie. It ultimately has to do with freedom of speech, transgender was merely the vehicle that brought the issue it to the forefront.
C'mon, all the stuff around Elliot Page was completely unnecessary. He did that just to be a dick, and burst into tears when he was temporarily banned on twitter for it.

I'm not sure what freedom of speech at Uni if Toronto had to do with his refusal to use the names of people who had transitioned.
