Howe has been doing a lot of dumb things lately and maybe this suspension is what he needs to pull his head in. Giving away free kicks the way he has, he needs this.
Yes free kicks for holding in tackles or going a bit high are the same as this....

Deserves 2 for the hit although it looked like he was trying to punch him in the chest and Cripps ducked into it.

I'd see any intent in the trip at all.

Really was looking forward to seeing Howe get the jobs on Fyfe, Sookwood and Joey Kennedy.

Just wow.
How punching was dumb. No doubt.
Crips movement away probably dropped his chin enough to cop on right on the button rather than high on the chest.
Trip..... **** off! He fell over his entire bloody leg.
Rubbish & a scapegoat act.
There is an anti Hawthorn movement.
Michael Christian is a **** stick!
110kg Hawkins pancaking the young Dees kid & hitting him in the face is not deemed intentional to hurt... so ****ing what! Lol ask the young bloke what that felt like.
As for Hurns bump; you couldn’t have asked for a more optimistic view of the situation. Honeychurch was hurt & he chose to bump. He could have swatted the little pup away with one hand & taken the ball with the other but he chose to bump.
I’m glad I have only watched that piss poor excuse of a show, max twice!
Har.. flipping ha.
AFL at its best

This ridiculous 'potential to cause serious injury' seems to only be brought out for incidents involving Hawthorn players.

The Hawks have been the only club to have players suspended for:
1. 'Attempting' striking - Rioli
2. At least 5 players penalised more harshly for 'potential to cause serious injury' (Hodge, Lewis, Lake, Howe, Buddy). Find me an example of any other club that has had more than 2 players penalised more harshly under this provision?
3. 'Standing on a players leg' -1 week, despite two previous far more serious precedents including Enright and Minson that only copped a fine.

Now, possibly 5 weeks for Howe?

Hawks need to get proper legal counsel and challenge both.

As a sidenote: Michael Christian has been abysmal and should be sacked.
The Walker and Gibbs reports as clear examples.

Also, Jordan Lewis got two weeks for headbutting air thanks to Monfries staging.

I wonder if Clarko has let him of the leash to do what he wants to become the player Clarko wants in our side. No Lewis, Hodge or Mitchell has reduced our side to mere mortals.

Is it? May have been this week but i like his aggression and toughness. This was stupid but like the way he goes about it!
I agree. Some things he does is stupid, but i would hate it if we didn't have guys who will dish a bit out.

AB3CC5EA-80F6-430B-B985-4592886D3172.gif I know Abasi asked us not to compare, but it’s hard to reconcile this which got nothing, to Howe being sent straight to the tribunal because Fisher ended up with a broken leg. Earlier in the season this same bloke got done $1000 for attempted tripping - it’s all so confusing as there is no way in the world that Howes action was intentional, which they’ve stated but yet here we are at the tribunal.

It’s the action that should be judged not the outcome and if this is a nothing and others are a fine then that’s what Howe should be judged on. I have no problem with him getting two for the punch because the action (intent) was there and how hard it was, whether he meant him to cop him on the chin etc is irrelevant - it’s the action and that’s how they all should be judged. Porkins should of copped two for his hit as well but he got off - it’s the action MC not the outcome.

Henderson cops a massive fine for casboult leading with his head - Hurn gets nothing for turning his body and getting hit by a guy leading with his head.

Everything is just down right crazy this season and MC and Hocking are just trolling everyone.

This was Clarko targeting their best or influential player in Cripps, using Howe, just as they had done with Lamb harassing Sicily last time we played them... Howe playing the role of a Lewis.

Whatever Howes intentions, whatever he did or didnt mean to do, the whole way he goes about his footy is plain stupid.

OBrien & Langford not in the side so you've got another target. Wonder who you'll cane next week with Howe out.

You posters saying he should get 2 or 3 for the punch just for being stupid/dumb ?? WTF ??
You posters should be slapped with a weeks ban from Big Footy for being stupid/dumb

since when is being stupid/dumb been a reportable offence deserving of a week off ?

If that’s the case then there a lot of AFL footballers who should be sitting in the stands each week, cause there are some really stupid/dumb footballers

He punched another footballer on the chin........ no other footballer has ever done that before, have they ??

It’s a joke that he got 1 week (when compared to many other punches & elbows) but the fact he got a 2nd week for ‘POTENTIAL TO CAUSE HARM’
FFS, that is the joke
I hope HFC appeal this charge & I hope the tribunal throw out the trip charge after seeing OTC’s video post above

The punch punishment is fully deserved regardless of the tribunal going easy on other players, they should all get done for that, but the tripping charge is some bs. I was at the game and had a good view of it, thought nothing of it until the person sitting with noticed that Fisher was injured. Nothing from the video changes my mind.

The strike - fair enough

The "trip" or whatever you want o call it - You have got to be F'n kidding me. Should be thrown out in 5 minutes, there was absolutely no intent at all in that, just a playing incident that went wrong.

100% agree. Was always gone for the punch...……. but no matter how many times I watch it, I still don't even see the trip. Just an accident.

One week or two, done before or not, it is pretty stupid to punch another player on the chin...…… because that has always been a reportable offence.

If Howe gets games for tripping, then the club should pull out the incident last week of Selwood tripping and ask what's the difference?

I only see 2 differences. He’s not named Selwood & he’s not wearing blue & white hoops.
At Geelong you can slide feet first into contests.
I’m still bemused that nobody in the media picked up on Selwood pulling Sicily down onto him thus instigating the knee to the head but I guess that’s the beauty in being a protected species

Suspend the action, not the result.

It was a f***ing trip, nothing malicious. Too bad Fisher has a fractured bone, horrible result, but no reason to rub Howe out for an accident.

AFL just looking to square up for the Burton incident

Sorry, I don't find blokes chinning players when their not expecting it as admirable or worthy of having my respect.
