Just pretend I'm Damien Barrett for a second.. (gross)

IF
Dan Howe didn't belt Cripps
THEN
Would he have gotten the benefit of the doubt for the tripping incident?

I simply can't see a trip in it. A player fell over his already outstretched leg. WTF was he meant to do. Move his leg out the way and fall over?
on the tribunal board some are calling it a side kick or sweep :drunk:

So touchy in here!
what do you expect when you come over here and ask if one of our players has always been a dirty sniper?

Sorry, I don't find blokes chinning players when their not expecting it as admirable or worthy of having my respect.
but you listen to what blokes that chin women say?

Lol spin it any way you like Carey was spot on the money.. I'm not a fan of Carey, obviously a fairly average human in a lot of ways but he was right on the money. It's not a bad thing, Carey had some intel and it proved to be a pretty spot on call.

Shock ******* horror the little Geelong dweeb wants our players gone.

Like slobbo with his sick, insidious agenda to destroy us through the media.

Big nosed ******* twat
Whateley is a shocker. His hatred for Hawks is obvious if you listen closely to him. Whenever he praises us it is through gritted teeth. He loves to stick into us soon as he gets an opportunity. 2008 burns deeply for that Geelong dweeb as you perfectly put it

Have seen a few Carlton supporters describe it as being a ‘slide’ tackle .......

Guy lost me completely before our round 2 game , whole pre game devoted to how great it was to see the ‘holy trinity’ out there

At least Huddo feigns interest in other clubs better

Haven't paid much attention to Howe until this game. Has he always been a low, dirty player? Or was it just recently?

Please stop by regularly

It's been a tough few years for Blues fans since Kouta did his knee in the 2001 semi final, so anything that helps you enjoy footy more is right by me

Hopefully
C'mon you just know the Suns will get a priority pick so you'll have pick 2 and the wooden spoon
really helps you out

Have read most of the thread, but not all......

How is Taylor Walkers hit on Zack Tuohy any lesser than Howe’s hit in Cripps.
Walker comes charging through and collects Tuohy with the point of the should bang on the chin.
Where’s the potential to cause serious injury there.
Tuohy goes off the ground for about 10 mins, and at some point there are questions if he would even come back on the field.

As for the trip, which is a football incident.......hence deemed as careless, but gee, I didn’t see him swing his leg at him, and I certainly didn’t see no compound fracture. Sometimes the innocuous impacts cause more severe injury.
How many times do you see a guy do an ACL for something that looks innocuous, or a bloke gets a concussion because he got caught high in the wrong spot. To grade it as Severe is just dumb IMO.

I hope we take the strike to the tribunal, and put forward a strong case for both.......And appeal if we need to
Is it asking to much for consistency.

I only see 2 differences. He’s not named Selwood & he’s not wearing blue & white hoops.
At Geelong you can slide feet first into contests.
I’m still bemused that nobody in the media picked up on Selwood pulling Sicily down onto him thus instigating the knee to the head but I guess that’s the beauty in being a protected species

As someone else posted, I have no doubt Geelong spends many hours perfecting the art of receiving free kicks, and knowing how to give them away without being detected. They're masters at it.

Howe punched Cripps in the head dude.

Yer he gets that, he’s referring to the potential to cause injury. Load of shit that is. Interesting that the blues haven’t been questioned over keeping Cripps out on the ground considering how he went down like a bag of shit - one would of thought a concussion test was in order such has been the carry on. Cripps and fellow blues like to engage in the argy bargy but whinge like bitches when it comes back to bite them on the arse.

Feel sorry for Fisher that he broke his fibula but the good news is that at least he won’t have to play anymore of that shit football that your club continues to dish up

It's rare that they use it though isn't it? All for what, the look of the incident? What Dan did was stupid, and we don't want that rubbish in our game, however what Dangerfield did (stops up slide) was far more dangerous. He just got lucky that he made minimal contact to the Melbourne player who actually had some courage and attacked the footy properly.

Ditch the system and table and just grade the incident accordingly, and then say 'Dan, your hit on Patrick Cripps is worth two weeks suspension'.

my point was they use it, it's not just a Hawks thing, we just remember when it happens to us and not someone else

If Danger had broken someones ankle he'd be getting looked at, the media might be talking about it differently but as I don't pay attention to the media that wouldn't make any difference to me

What the trip comes down to is was it an illegal action, if yes then is it fair that the result impacts the punishment?

Someone raised that if they were on the street and Dan punches him that is assault, but if he hits his head on the ground and dies then it's manslaughter

As a society we like to punish outcomes more than intent, probably because outcomes are easier to prove

the trip report should be thrown out, i just saw it and he was using his leg to support himself as he went to ground, if Fisher wasnt so under-weight he wouldnt have broken his leg, look i really like Fisher i think he is a gem for Carlton, but he is under-weight for AFL footy and it was only a matter of time before he copped an injury...

2 weeks for the punch in the jaw and the trip report thrown out i would reckon... as you can see Fisher ran into his sprawled leg, which was supporting Howe as he went to ground.
