hmm swanny has only really had one good season, whereas coughlan has sort of half proven himself over a few seasons... as much as i love dane i think u'd have to say cogs is better until swanny puts a few seasons together

Yes but you must remember Parrot that not every young midfielder will turn out to be a gun like Marc Murphy or Kade Simpson :)

you'd think with such quality in the middle, the blues would win more than 3 games :D

Swan for mine.

Swan this year has dramatically improved his ability to both find the ball and dispose of it efficiently. In the first half of the season we saw him used as the linkman between half-foward and centre - creating run with his quick, handball clearances and finishing the stream of play carving the opposition defence with a spectacular goal (most of which unusually came in 4th quarters - I remember watching three different collingwood games placing bets with my mates as to how many goals Swan would kick in each game in the last quarter! My predictions were correct, thus I dubbed him "clutch") .

The latter half of the season saw him return to his 2005 role as a sweeper/shotgun from defence (not unlike Tarkyn Lockyer's old role) - hurting the opposition with his creativity, providing a link between full back and centre. His uncontested possessions increased as he found more of the ball and was able to have more control on the direction of play.

All round, served Collingwood well in both roles, displaying the consistency he has demonstrated since the beginning of '05 when his game time was steadily increased throughout the season (20% overall to be exact). I think at 23, he has a big future ahead of him and Collingwood fans should be smiling

Coughlan, equally a quality player. Has demonstrated in two of the previous 4 seasons he is in the elite category of mildfielders for his ability to find the ball. After finishing fourth in the comp for contested possessions in '03, (56 clear of any other Richmond player) he has gradually been able to avoid the contest more with Tuck doing the work below waist height, releasing Coughlan as a linkman

It is a shame about his injury, no-one likes to see an injury that severe to an established 24 year old. I wish him well next year, and for god's sake will the Tigers please make the 8??? So we dont have to hear it anymore, and I we can all watch their bandwagon supporters come out of the woodwork again!

All this from a Crows supporter... are you confused yet?

Swan...he was great this year, while Coughlan for mine hasn't yet been able to match his 2003 form. Obviously his injury hasn't helped but as the Tigers get back up the ladder, so will Cogs.

Coughlan is better, but more injury prone.

Swan's disposal is better, but he's more of a linkman, but he also kicks goals.

Too close to call

I must say even though i am a tigers supporter i do like Dane Swan. He has decent disposal and can kick goals. However Cogs has been around for a little long and Swan has only had 1 good year.

Also Swan is 2 soft, doesnt like the hard ball and seems to only have a stellar impact in a match when Collingwood are already winning (i still like him though), just like Tarrant. Has anyone ever noticed most of the time when Tarrant kicks a bag is when the game is already over or after Collingwood have taken control of the match?

typical dumb arse collingwood supporter;)
You see there is a thing called injuries which he has suffered really badly from the last 2-3 years, needing a knee reconstruction and missing nearly a whole year with OP:rolleyes:
