Injury Dane Swan

Swanny is a very family oriented man who loves nothing more than a quiet cup of tea at home with his mother on a Saturday night. (am I doing this right?)

The guys a club legend and anything shy of him retiring on his own terms is very sad.

Couldn't believe it when I heard of his injury.:(

To be fair most people's end is swift and sudden in sports, not many get the Kobe Bryant farewell tour.

Yeah but still very sad if he hangs up the boots.

I could just see Dane Swan's last game going something like 40+ disposals 3 goals and cheeky good bye gesture of some kind that would give Carowhine Wilson enough fodder to write rubbish for the rest of her life.

For me, this is more depressing than the loss itself. Such an idiosyncratic footballer and character of the club for a long time. It's sad to think he will out of the team for so long and probably never get back to his best (ok, his best is behind him anyway but you know what I mean). I hope he plays on next year.

I hope to god this isnt the end for one of the best individuals to ever play the game.
There will never be another swanny.
Absolute freak on the field and highly doubt there is one person from any club who doesnt like him or suppoter ( which is very hard as his been black and white only)
Very odd character outside of football which is prob why everyone loves him.
I hope he gets back and his ijuries arent as bad as thought.

I have big footy wherever I go on my phone, most of us do. :p
It takes a special kind of person to have a previous account banned for good, and to start it all up again

Have never understood that, why would you do it?
Happens a lot all over BF. Someone told me when some join up, have two accounts anticipating one will get banned.

personally I think he will go on next year. whilst he has this attitude that he doesn't care. for a player that has been elite consistently the best part of 10 years cares. and like last year that he wanted to prove doubters wrong I think that he may want to prove doubters wrong again. no champion would want finish like that. and on a side not. " this injury aside " I believed he still had 2 - 3 years in him.

Swanny is half a shot to go on in 2017 if we have a decent year, so pull your finger out Collingwood.

Saw a report which suggested his body would be up for it, but another pre-season after a season of rehab? I certainly hope so, but I've got a pessimistic vibe.

I can see you're the sort of person who likes to nurse the illusion that you're in possession of a reality which escapes the rest of us. And so I repay your sarcasm with my own: good for you.

Thing is, no one is blind to Swan's faults. The thing is we love the man despite his faults. The thing is that despite his failings and foibles he's played his f****** heart out for his team for over a decade, and he's performed for his team again and again and again... That's a part of the man's charm for Collingwood supporters and for supporters across the competition, but you've been so immersed in your 'reality' that you missed it. Pretty sad.

The hilarious thing about your speech is I actually agree with all that, and if you weren't so blinded by emotion you would of seen that.

On-field Swan has been one of the modern great players, with a doubt.

Oh you know me, Kappa, I just get so emotional, so caught up in things. I could have sworn that you suggested that Swan's off-field life meant that he didn't really care about anyone except himself. I'm just glad I gave you some hilarity. For what it's worth (not much), your posts have inspired a chuckle or two as well. :thumbsu:

Nice graphic. Swan's tatts look like the doodles of Keith Haring. Was he your influence?:)

Thanks, glad you like it.
Keith Haring is fantastic, though he didn't directly influence me for Swan's ink i'm stoked you made that comparison. I'm sure he at least somewhat influences all my work though.

Ah yes, my mistake.

Swan is a brilliant player so let's all stick our heads in the sand and pretend his faults are non existent because it makes us all feel warm and cosy.

Reality sucks anyway.
Shoot a man when his down not true form. I know plenty of people who have heard him speak to young kids at footy nights and they couldn't speak more highly of him. I am sure off field many players are similar and given the recent revelations this last week it's pretty true. He will be and is a pie legend.

Already is a pie legend....... Swanny!!!!

The Swan injury sure changes the expectations of the season in a hurry.

Missing the top 8 seems almost certain now based on my evaluation with another 11th/12th place finish looming as a result.

Hawthorn/Geelong/Sydney/West Coast/Fremantle/Port Adelaide/Western Bulldogs/GWS/North Melbourne/Richmond should all be better with Gold Coast the team I'd have competing with us for 11th if I'm to guess a rough ladder order today.

The positive is it's an opportunity to start to get more aggressive in our introduction of young players. Or at least so I hope, as we're not going anywhere this year.
