I reckon that if he doesn't get it tonight, he never will. Great start to the game, 4 goals all up, excellent pressure all over the ground. As much as he's deserved it before, this has to be the one surely.

He should.

Savage has already been nominated this year. Breust was very good too but Menzel's was against better opposition I reckon. We'll see what happens with other eligible players tomorrow.

Menz is a fantastic talent, going to be a super player for us for a long time.

Case you guys didn't notice the young guy with the subs vest on, Mitch Duncan, came on and got stuck in straight away, got knocked out, didn't faze the kid, just kept boring in.
By the way, noticed he's put on some size, he ain't small!

Duncan played well too, but in case you didn't notice Meto, Duncan got his well deserved nomination in Round 2. I don't think you can get 2 nominations in the same season. Duncan should be right up there with a chance to pinch the award.

What about Hunt?
He has been very consistent and keeps doing the job

I've said it before in another thread Gogeelong, Hunt just seems to belong in the team as though he's been there forever, and always plays consistently well. I struggle to remember that he is still a rookie, but he would be well deserving of a nomination at some point in time. I just think Menzel stands out more and should get it for this game (and probably should have already had one anyway).

Our kids can play, that's for sure. The future is looking good.

Yep I don't care about whether he gets the nod or not, if he does what he did last night often, we will go a long way this year.

I reckon Mitch Duncan was nearly as good. Especially after getting nearly getting knocked out - only to come back on and continue to play well. Really good signs.

Also a very good kick.

Agreed, but Duncan already has his nomination, so we'd like to see Menzel, Hunt, Vardy and Christensen get theirs now.

Fair enough - just wanted to make note he took a knock and kept going - says a lot about a player. Duncan passed another test last night.

I reckon he will be a goal kicking mid for us in the future (if he isn't already). Just get him going forward and take shots at goal from inside 50 m arc. Such a really nice kick. Looks very balanced.

He should get the nom but as others have said its not super important , just a little benchmark which confirms what we all know that Geelong have pulled a rabbit or two out the hat from the 09 draft.

The more I see of him the more I like. Just like Duncan , he has ice in his veins when set shot shooting. Lovely little left to right soft fade in his standard kick allow him to kick those right pocket goals , which usually are oh so hard for right footers.
As I have said before , just wait till he haas done another couple of preseasons. When he starts to really get strong he is going to rip sides apart. I can see how some might see a bit of Bizzell in him but I think thats under playing Menzel's talent. He may not be quite the same high mark as the Biz but he has certainly more weapons than him around the ground. If his marking gets stronger he is player who could be a dangerous mobile FF in the years to come.

Thought Dahlhaus from us played a worthy game on Friday, but Menzel's game easily beats that. Hoping our guy's hairstyle makes the selectors notice him more.

Your boy, who was a Falcon, played really well, and deserves a nomination, but it seems they often nominate a player after several good showings, and Menzel has shown a lot this year, last night the icing.
