No, I'm claiming that KPP forwards are more important / valuable than midfielders.

If you are tossing up between KPP and a mid you should take the KPP.

do we need another KP?

if so, we should get on our horses and start trading some of ours

we once lack proven KP

we now have too many unproven KP

however if essendon does end up chosing rich (which is a 50/50 to me as they need another key def for fletcher/michael) then we should pick the next best, which should be hurley

yarran at 3 seems a little high

my thinking was for essondon
fletcher getting old- replacement sh!t and plays for freo now
mal michael- getting on as well

the replacements off top my head is paddy ryder and courtney johns:p

so ill be thinking essendon goes for hurley

maybe rich conveniently gets injured and doesn't play in the carnival or go to draft camp. That may help him slip a little. I really think yarran is exactly what we need also and it would be well worth getting another first rounder (mid to late) or upgrading our 2nd round pick in to the first round. Seaby, Graham, hunter, hansen, armstrong, nicoski, Chad Jones and rosa are all tradeable in order to get it. Yarran will idealy play on the HFF and be rotated in to the middle, like an early gary ablett jnr, ben cousins or shaun burgoyne. Is quick, with deadly skills and can kick bags when playing in the pocket.

you make him sound like a superstar

it is highly unlikely any clubs would trade their first round picks, so unless yarran slips into the 2nd round theres no possibility of receiving his services.

only seaby, hunter and rosa have trade value. not enough for this years 1st rounder.

The Rich option is gone. Bar a mirraculous trade, and no I'm not talking about Kerr.

There is no way we will finish low enough.

Essendon will grab him with pick 2.

As much as I'D LOVE him at our club I would prefer us to give finals a crack.

:(

id like some proof that the rich option is gone bar mirraculous

what gives ppl to think essendon will nab him @ 2?

isit me or do most wce posters here think we will seriously "give finals a crack"

unbelivable what i read here

WC have only won 2 games. Still have a toughish draw and are not out of the shit yet. Sure the Adelaide win may be the start of return to form, but it could just be an aberration. Anything can happen between now and the draft, whose not to say WC get struck by a host of injuries again and Freo/Essendon hit some form and get on a winning run.

We won't make it, but I'd rather see us try than have the Carlton approach.

We can't delibrately loose.

What do you suggest we should do then?

Who else would the Dons get?

I'd like to see the odds on that.

I'm just saying my opinion.

We won't finish second last. We will win, at least, enough games to finish 12-13th.

I'd like to get Rich (wouldn't we all ;)), but I just can't see it. I can't see us continuing our poor form for another 13 weeks.

Sure, it may have been an aberration against the Crows but I don't see how we can pay like that and be in the position we're in..

We've won two games and there are 3 teams below us, it just shows there are a few teams much much worse off than us.

mate, i have not suggested once of "T A N K I N G"

which is the term of delibratly losing

what in your bloody mind thinks we will make the 8, let only having an impact? you dont get medals or admiration in finishing 8. teams get remmembered in the top 4

what do i suggest we do?

im not the head coach of wce, but continue to play the kids get games under their belts, try new plans, players in diff positions. with this, u cant seriously tackle games week in week out. its the inexperience and adaptment that will be the probable cause of the lost - not ie carlton leaving travis johnstone unmanned for the whole game

collingwood, hawthorn, geelong, doggies, adelaide usually have an unchanged lineup bar 1 or 2 players ie injury or kids

i guess u havent seen our draw, but it is likely that carlton and richmond will finish above us.

i guess u havnt read through this whole post

who else would dons get? ive posted more than twice stating that essendon need to find an already made key def ONCE fletcher and michael are done. they dont have anyone on their list that will cover FB, Ryder @ CHB and Pears as third tall, hench hurley is a POSSIBILITY.

rich option is gone pfft.

We won't finish low enough. I guarentee you.

So what, playing the kids like we did on the weekend, and beating Adelaide by near on 10 goals?

Our draw isn't that bad mate, besides playing Hawks and Geelong away.

It might not be gone yet, but it will be come seasons end, unfortunately.

why dont u read more posts and go through them all?

our 2nd half is easier then our first?

go look at richmonds and carlton fixture and see if they will finish above wce

what makes you think we will play like adelaide for the next 13 games?

it will be between essendon/wce/freo for rich

Read through 5 pages to please you? Unlikely.

I didn't say we would, but I said we played kids and we played better than we have all season. Isn't that a sign we're improving?

We'll see on saturday where we are really at.

I'm thinking that we will finish a little too high to snag Rich in the draft (unless we do a trade, which will be difficult). Most people expect him to go in the top three. But then, strange things have happenned in the past. I didn't think that the Eagles would get Hurn with pick 13 either !

No disrespect to Hurn, but I think Rich is rated a lot higher than Hurn was at the same age

True. But Hurn was ranked a lot higher than 13 at the time he was drafted. THAT is the comparison that I was trying to make. Rich could possibly have a poor Under 18's Championship (I don't wish that on him, but it IS possible), which could see him slide out of the top 2 or 3 draft prospects.

I think hes going to be either a Docker or a Bomber guys. Don't think you guys have much chance of getting your hands on him.
The only way he would fall past our first pick is if we had pick 1 where i would assume we would take big Natnui. So in summary you will probably finish higher then us and more then likely have very little chance of getting hold of him.

The chances of him falling from the top 2-3 are bugger all and none mate.

With Hurn i think the issue clubs seen with him is that he had already physically developed and didn't have the improvement that a lot of players at the same level had in him. There was probably 4-5 guys who were at that similar level when drafted but they had bigger scope for improvement then Hurn IMO hench why he fell to you guys.
Also with Hurn to me he seems a little slow and one dimensional which wouldn't have helped his cause. I didn't rate him at draft time and honestly rate him even lower now.

That said this is no troll so please dont turn this into a well Hurn is better then "insert docker" etc. Not how it was meant, just a general observation.

Sidebottem sounds useful, as does Tom Swift (Two great names there !:)) but I still think that, for a first round pick, i'd rather a goalsneak forward like Yarran or a close checking small defender (I don't know who that might be). Do you think that Sidebottem or Swift are likely to be better than Masten, Ebert or Scott Selwood, the players with whom they will be competing for time on the ground ?

We need a quick mid more than anything imo. We don't need a crumbing forward desperately because we have Wirra and LeCras, but what we're missing is pace in the midfield I reckon.

Well Hurn did finish high in the "Rising Star" award (5th) last season, so I think that , if you don't rate him you are in the minority. He has been injured this year, which has been a blow to both him and the Eagles but he has shown enough in his 30 odd games to suggest that the Eagles made the correct decision in trading to get high enough to pick him. His developement (before injury) was certainly ahead of the other players that the Eagles drafted that year (McKinley, Spangher). Mc Kinley in particular has shown a bit this season while Hurn has been injured, but I expect that Hurn, if fully fit, will come back strong next year.

Wirra is getting on and he has been having injuries, Le Cras is already injury prone. Which of the midfielders that we are likely to get has the sort of pace that you are talking about ? I can't see us getting Rich, so who else ?
