Re: What is the point of Stanley?

We were going to get smashed tonight no matter what, I hardly think it's fair to blame Stanley. Basically every player was beaten tonight.

Again ill just say it again for the smart ones out there. I never said Danny Stanley is too blame. I just asked what can he possibly bring to our team to help us, that's all. I watched him play last season for us a couple of times and i haven't seen any improvement to his game. You may think its harsh judging him on tonight but when do we judge him? On the training track or in the VFL? Come on guys...

Has he ever played more than 1-2 games in a row???

Toovey, L.Brown on the other hand get to play SH|THOUSE every game!

Keep living in your dream land where Toovey is an elite mid and Malthouse is the premier coach of the league...

On this I just noticed Fraser on the bench I would like to thank the great man for finally running the bloke into the ground

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

Again, i can't see an upside in the guy hence why i asked the question. Which your answers don't really say much about his slowness and awareness which each time he plays for us he gets caught out and turns the balls over 3 or 4 times a game when he only touches it 10 times if that. It's Corrie and Brown first year at the club so give them a break. Medhurst took awhile to get going, hopefully Corrie can go along the same path. As for Toovey...oh my.

You blind???

"BTW, the upside of Stanners is that he's hard as nails, in and under and (usually) a very good kick!"

Do you think maybe the lack of awareness thing is that he hasn't been acclimatised to the speed of senior level caused by lack of opportunity?

Who cares if it's Brown and Corries first year at the pies..... They have been f**** useless at their previous clubs too and offer NO upside!!!

I would much rather get game time into our youngsters than play old hacks with absolutely no chance of taking us to our next flag.
Stanley, given a decent run in his prime position which is midfield, will be 10x better than any of the 3 players I mentioned!

What games did you watch him play and in them, did he play on the ball?
Did he get a game the following week or was he dropped straight away?

BTW, being patronising is not going to win you friends on this board pal!!

Ahh ok i just haven't reall seen his skills in place tonight, no need to get upset mate..He has gone in hard a couple of times however. Corrie is 25 and kicked the 3rd most goals last season for the Lions so he can obviously play and does offer us another small forward who can free up didak and leon in the midfield thats pretty obvious as for Brown i agree he is pretty useless but the reason he is playing is because of the poor form of wood and bryan, which finally tunred around on the weekend.

Sorry but if Danny Stanley is in our midfield then yeah, i think we have too many better younger players to fill those spots, Beams, Steele, Wellingham and co.. Four years at the club, how long should we wait for him to get acclimatised?

Poor old Fu (pronounced who) gets all angry when we lose because he has nothing else in his life :p

Harry Towel and beyond?

Mate... you are a deadset f*** wit!!!

If anyone is the keyboard hero, it is you!

Would love to organise a Bigfooty BBQ and see if your big mouth comes along.

If my memory serves me correctly he played a game last year, maybe two. I'm not a stat book so i couldn't tell you who he played against. But i do remmeber he looked slow and had no awareness, which is why i ask the question. where is he going..As he looks to have gone nowhere in terms of developing his game.

BTW im not trying to make friends on here mate, im simply sharing my view. If you don't like it then don't read it, ok pal!

Let's give him more than 1 game in a row to get the feel for the top level shall we?

Constantly racks up 30+ possessions in the scoobs week in, week out....
Malthouse continues to play him anywhere but in the middle and will not give him a crack!

Why does Toovey get a game every week?? Why does Brown continue to get a game?? and if Corrie isn't dropped this week I will personally deliver my membership to the Lexus Centre!

Fraser has said he prefers to run fulltime.. muppet

Thanks for that as long as I'm one of the old blokes sitting in the balcony:p or animal

Who said I'm your mate c-ock breath?

So you're not denying the deadset f***wit thing?

Enjoy your card and have fun creating your next username!

It's interesting that you have a go at other posters for having no life and yet you sit there taking potshots until you get red carded, and then spend all that time creating a new username.

I'm not denying that you think it :p

The difference between me and you, DNine, Fumanchu, Jerry Springer etc

I'm having fun... you losers are all angry

I take it that the 'etc' is the rest of the posters on this board?

Mate, no-one likes you... i understand you are here to cause trouble and you 'have fun' doing it.... but one day you'll grow up and realise that you have no friends and absolute no life!!

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

In every game that he has played, Stanley has looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights, has been slow (of foot and mind) and made poor decisions and disposals. By contrast, the likes of Wellingham, Beams, Pendles, Thomas, JA, Marty Clarke and (dare I say it) even Barham have looked like the instictively belong right from the start. Bottom line is that Stanley is not MENTALLY strong enough. He panics under pressure. That can't be taught or trained - you've either got the right make up or not. Stanley does not. He's had half a dozen matches or so and has shown nothing. He'll be dropped next week as Davis, JA and co return and should not be given another game.

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

Careful Wicksy acrabackra and goalsneak are sounding similar to the other stanley thread

Why do you say that?

Can't i voice my opinion, do i need your permission? My points are valid and i have asked a relevant question, regarding a player at our club is that illegal?

Would you like me to refer you to a ****** who can't spell 'life' or 'sucks' properly in your username? Didn't think so.. So please don't refer me to others.

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

Why is our gun VFL centreman and inside player continually played in the seniors on the half-back or half-forward flank and the dropped immediately after one game?

I also don't see the point in him playing if this is how he will be used.

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

I reckon Stanley deserves a few more games at senior level before we even think about forming a firing squad and it would be good if there were a few more senior players in the side to support him.

Wellingham showed a bit tonight...best game I've seen him play.

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

honestly i want him to do well but his decision making is ordinary.

only watched til half time but from what i saw he made the wrong choice most of the time. Get caught holding the ball when he should have handballed it, handballs to Corrie standing still and Corrie gets hammered.

Its just not Stanners though, Barham is a kid but he makes bad decisions and unfortunately it throws out all the chasing and hard work u leave out there

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

Tough game to come in for and he was hardly alone.

I hope he gets another gig next week, time at the top level will do him the world of good.
And in a year when we clearly aren't pressing for top end we hardly lose anything out of giving our young blokes some time up there.

He has been on the list for a while, I'd much rather see him given a decent chance at the top level and not making it, than leaving him at the lower level and never finding out.

He has a deft touch in close and he showed a bit of it tonight, there is a lot to work with regardless of what some trolls will say.

The jump from VFL tempo to this tempo (which was high for an AFL player, let alone a VFL player).

Give him a few weeks in. He can't adjust to the tempo at the snap of a finger.

Re: What is the point of Stanley?

Sidebottom came in for his debut and got 22 disposals.. no excuses for Stanley.. has blown every single chance he's been given

Mate, we heard you the first time.

You can keep stamping your feet and chucking your little tantrum all you like, but it doesn't achieve anything.

I just read a post about you calling another guy a broken record, surely you aren't that stupid are you? Read your own posts.

You'll be red carded soon anyway so make your tantrum worth it :thumbsu:

Just for argument sake, Stanley came in for his first game of the year and got 15 touches.

Move on...
